Eid ul Adha is main celebration of Islamic world along with Eid ul Fitr. This day is marked by
Qurbani of Annam animals( cow, bull, goat, sheep, ram, buffalo, and camel) as a continuation of
Sunnat e Ibrahim(A.S). According to Quran and Sunnah shedding blood i.e, Qurbani on this
occasion carry great Ajar and is obligatory for well to do individuals. This Eid teaches us sacrifice
of our wordly wishes, total submission to the decree and will of Allah and providing every
possible help to needy brothers and sisters.

encompasses every aspect of humanitarian assistance and social wellbeing of suffering
humanity. From disaster to education and WASH to health, construction to disability, no facet is
left unattended. No stone is left unturned in bringing joys to the lives of helpless people,

implemented with enthusiasm, religious zeal and dedication throughout the world, spanning all
the inhibited continents, from Asia to Africa.

Alkhair Foundation Qurbani project in Afghanistan:

Alkhair Foundation reaches every corner of the world, wherever suffering communities need its
services. This year Alkhair extended its Qurbani project to War torn, extreme poor Afghanistan.
The highlights of this project is as follows.

Situation Analysis :

Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world. More than three decades of war and
no end in sight, has pushed this country at the verge of extinction.

Poverty actually kills more Afghans than those who die as a direct result of the armed conflict; it
is both a cause and a consequence of a massive human rights deficit. Poverty in Afghanistan is
widespread throughout rural and urban areas. More than 40 per cent of the urban and nearly
70% of rural population – are believed to live in absolute poverty and a further 37 per cent live
only slightly above the poverty line. Afghanistan has the second highest maternal mortality rate
in the world and the third highest rate of child mortality. Nearly 50 percent of population
predominantly children suffer from malnutrition. Only 23 per cent of the population have access
to safe drinking water, and only 24 per cent of Afghans above the age of 15 can read and write,
with much lower literacy rates among women and nomadic populations. Decades of Armed
conflict has turned Afghanistan into a country of widows and orphans. Nearly one million
widows in the country , half of them resides in and around Kabul. An estimated 50% of them are
aged 37 or below with four to 5 children to feed. Without any income source they have but only
two option left, either Beg or sell their children to Warlords. Nearly 1.6 million people are
internally displaced in Afghanistan, forced to live in dwellings where food insecurities are
highest, and water, sanitation and health facilities are scarce.

Afghan households tend to be large. Agriculture and seasonal labour are traditionally the major
activities for a large portion of the population, but these have suffered from nearly 30 years of
conflict, low investments and natural disasters,as a result agriculture is rarely the main source of
food or income.

Project Implementation :

The situation in Afghanistan is unimaginably worst and need immediate humanitarian

assistance but the bitter fact is, no humanitarian organisation is providing support. The reported
abduction, killing, armed robbery and injury of NGOs workers, threats, and insecurities, prevent
any humanitarian service organisation from working in Afghanistan.

Alkhair Foundation took a bold step in extending its Humanitarian services to Afghanistan.
Hostile terrain, insecurities, impossible access to rural Afghanistan and alleged bad weather
didn't stop Alkhair team from extending helping hands to Afghan brothers and sisters.

Although time was very short and human resource very limited, but Alhamudullilah we
successfully accomplished our project in Afghanistan. Animals were purchased through local
vendors and in their selection all the guidelines of Shariah and standards set by Alkhair
Foundation were throughly followed.

Slaughtering and distribution points were selected and deserving individuals were issued
tokens. On the 1st day of Eid, Alkhair Foundation slaughtered 100 Qurbani Animals(50 bulls and
50 goats) in the predefined slaughtering points of district Kabul and........ . Meat was distributed
among deserving community members at various points located in............. Slaughtering, meat
chopping, meat packaging was performed in clean and hygienic environment. Special attention
was given not to hurt dignity of individuals on every distribution point.

Qurbani project outcome:

This project was first of its kind in Afghanistan. Although challenges were numerous and time
was limited yet by the grace of Almighty we are successful in achieving our goal.Alkhair Qurbani
project directly benefitted...........individuals in the extreme poor regions of........ And......... Our
main focus was those malnourished widows and orphans, for whom meat is a rear luxury.
Besides them extreme poor families and disable persons all got their share of meat on this Eid.
This project brought smiles and cheers for those who have long forgotten these traits. Hopeless
widows and orphans pray endlessly for Alkhair Foundation.

Objectives :

To perform obligatory zabiha on behalf of our Donors.

To revive sunnat e Ibrahim(A.S)

To reach out to those widows and orphans who have no source of income and seldom taste meat.

and that delivery of human services is possible with the use of right strategy and right tools.

To help marginalised community without hurting dignity of individuals.

Final words:

We are much thankful to Honourable Donors of Alkhair Foundation and and Chairman Imam Qasim
sahab, whose extensive support made us capable of making great Ajar and to be a source to bring
happiness in the lives of suffered and helpless. We are also very thankful to our local Afghan team who
managed this project successfully with very limited human resource and limited time. People of
Afghanistan were very thankful to Alkhair Foundation and they prayed for its donors.

Alkhair Foundation is considered as a ray of hope by hopeless Afghan people. They prayed and hoped
that Alkhair Foundation will continue its Humanitarian services in future, throughout Afghanistan.
