Preface
Our education system effectively provides a base for learning the English
language and helps students to understand the underlying concepts of
grammar and linguistics. In addition, this learning material provides the
functional approach of language teaching, understanding and application
of various concepts to students.
This workbook is designed to enable a holistic learning of the English language,
and is an efficient tool to achieve comprehensive success in the ISFO – English
Olympiad.
The main aim of this workbook is to assist students in developing and improving their
ability to address questions on varying aspects of language learning.
This book consists of five sections for all-round preparation for the talent exams:
• Section A (Vocabulary): This section helps to develop various aspects of vocabulary,
word order and punctuation.
• Section B (Grammar): Questions related to various concepts of English Grammar are
included in this section. Students stand to gain in identification, understanding and
analysis of the concepts.
• Section C (Reading & Writing): Here, students get to solve questions regarding a
variety of reading comprehension passages in English. For effective communication,
specialised expressions are used for different situations. This section helps practise these
responses for various situations using appropriate expressions and inference of any
statement.
• Section D (BrainBox): This section tests Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) based on
the entire syllabus.
Sample test papers for further practice and answer keys have been provided to augment the
learning process.
