with the thought of how to make money. Many of them stilt believe in the myth ‘from rags to riches’. However,
not everyone becomes a millionaire in the richest country in the world. The vast majority of Americans have their

unemployment benefits. It is also commonly accepted that in that country of welfare there are some people living
in cardboard boxes, sleeping on the pavement and carrying their belongings in plastic bags.
Another American obsession, apart from money, is being tit and healthy. Illnesses make life complicated,
hence Americans put a lot of effort into prevention. They regularly see specialists, take tons o f vitamins, minerals

nature in your country where you will:
— express the organizing committee your gratitude for the invitation
— inform about the problems of air. land and w ater pollution in Ukraine
— inform about the measures to ensure pure air. oceans and seas done by the United Nations
and G reat Britain in particular
Dear members of the organizing commettee! Let me express my deepest gratitude to all of you for the
invitation. I’m so happy to become one of the participants of this conference.
The protection of nature has become one of the most burning problems of the 21st century. We need certain
things to stay alive and healthy. We need clean air to breathe, and pure water to drink. We need also food that is
safe to eat and housing to shelter us. The Earth provides people with mineral resources, rivers, forests, fields —
everything that makes the foundation of industrial and agricultural production. The development of industry' has a
bad influence on the nature of the whole world. People often do the things, that pollute lands and waters greatly. It
is very dangerous because it hurts the health of people and provokes different diseases. We live in a community so
we can save our health only working together.
An intensive development of industry results in air pollution.
Today many factories use devices to reduce smoke, dust or harmful gases. Special kinds of gasoline for cars are
effectively used in many countries, including Great Britain.
It is very important to ensure pure air, oceans, and seas by improving technological progress, the quality of
raw materials and fuel, to do everything possible to protect people and nature from radioactive and air pollution. I
consider that the only way to overcome the catastrophe is to put the air, oceans great seas and lakes, under
international control, perhaps under that of the United Nations.
The accident at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, Ukraine, in 1986, caused radioactive contamination of a
vast area around the plant. Ukrainian government, together with international community, has taken all possible
measures, including the closure of the plant, to neutralise the perilous effect of radiation on the environment.
In Ukraine public organisations and individuals support campaign for environmental protection.
In conclusion, 1 must say, many scientists and world leaders realize that the Earth is in danger. There is only
one way out of this terrible situation. Either we stop killing the Earth or we kill ourselves.

camp chairs, and gas lights. We need to use tough safari clothes, good shoes, a hat for the sun and dust, a torch, a
sweater for cold evenings, toilet kit and towels. The only horrible tiling for me here is the weather.; some days are
too hot; some - too rainy!!! Yesterday we spent the day driving round the game park, and with the benches facing
outwards, animals were easy to see. Expenses here are minimal. Much cost comes on photographs. But service
generally is admirable. Everything is really fascinating! I’ve made many wonderful photos that would remind me
