Introduction
One of the Core Applications included in the ISIS v2.5.0 Base-Software is Workshop
System Management (WSM), an easy to use, user-friendly Web-based Configuration
and Management tool for the ISIS Cluster System. An ISIS Cluster System is made up
of two ISIS servers label ISIS1 and ISIS2. (ibase1 & ibase2)
Through WSM, the center’s 3g Center/Dealer Administrator can configure and manage
the ISIS servers in the cluster system.

ISIS Base-Software Installation

The ISIS Base-Software Installation has a four-phase process. Phase 1 and Phase 2 of
the install consist of two independent processes which do not interfere with each other.
Therefore parallel execution of Phase 1 and Phase 2 is recommended.
There is a dependency between Phase 3 and Phase 4 because both ISIS Servers run in
a Cluster System therefore the ISIS1 server must first be configured and registered while
the ISIS2 server is shutdown. After the Configuration and Registration of the ISIS1 server
is successfully completed, then the ISIS2 server can be switched on for Configuration
and Registration as well.

Phase 1 – Installation of ISIS Base-Software on both ISIS1 and ISIS2 servers

Two scenarios for a new (Full) installation of an ISIS Server using ISIS v2.5.0 Base -
Software (DVD):
• Without WIPE process - (Re-Installation of both ISIS servers running Pre-installed
ISIS v2.5.0). No formatting nor partitioning of the hard drives take place.
Example: This procedure is performed if an error in the host software is suspected.
• With WIPE process - (Installation process for corrupted/misconfigured ISIS servers).
This process should only be performed if directed to do so by first level support or
installation instructions.
Phase 2 – Preparation of a Laptop/Notebook or PC
(as a temporary configuration station)
Phase 3 – Configuration and Registration of ISIS1 server
Phase 4 – Configuration and Registration of ISIS2 server

ISPI software installation packet (Starterkit V2.0)

5
ISIS - Workshop System Management
Prerequisites for ISIS Base-Software Installation
Only the first installation (after delivery of the ISIS) is carried out by an SBS (SIEMENS
Business Systems) technician. All subsequent software updates and installations must
be carried out by the 3g Center/Dealer Administrator.
If a problem occurs with the ISIS system the user should first of all contact the 1st level
support helpdesk before attempting any corrective action. A Wipe & Reinstall should only
be undertaken at the request/recommendation of the helpdesk.

Required Software

Starter Kit 2.0

Number of
Software
CD’s/DVD’s
2 ISIS Base
2 Wipe
1 ITools
1 ISTA

As the Wipe & Reinstall procedure requires CD’s and DVD’s to be inserted/removed
from the CD drive on the ISIS server it is recommended that you use a PC in close
proximity to the ISIS servers.

Network Connectivity Check

You should run the ICC Connectivity Check software tool V2.0.1.0 or higher
before starting to confirm the availability of the registration and update servers in
JETstream. These tools can be found on the DCSnet web page under the ser-
vices/workshop menu. This software tool and user instructions can also be acquired
by contacting the Workshop technology helpdesk (API).

6
ISIS - Workshop System Management
ISIS1 IP Address
The ISIS1 IP address will be required for the WSM. The easiest method to obtain this
address is to view the display on server 1.

LCD screen of the bottom server (IP Address of the primary ISIS1 - “ibase1 *” displayed)

ISIS Administrative Password

The ISIS Administrative password is assigned by the original installer. This will be required
to perform various WSM functions.
Example: Powering down the servers.
If this password is lost/invalid, contact the workshop technology helpdesk.

Valid ISIS Dealerspeed or S-Gate User ID and Password

This ISIS user id and password expires after 30 days of inactivity. Please check your
account prior to any ISIS procedures by logging into the Dealerspeed (S-Gate) homepage
and resetting the password, if prompted to.
Centers/Dealerships utilize Dealerspeed to maintain the account.
Internal/Corporate sites utilize S-Gate to maintain this account.

Both ISIS Servers Must be De-registered

If this procedure is not performed before a WIPE, the process cannot be performed local-
ly. You must contact workshop technology helpdesk or first level support.

Workshop subnet IP range/ISIS IP addresses – including DHCP

exclusion range (if applicable)
The specific range of IP addresses that will be used need to be obtained.

3g Center/Dealer Administrator’s Contact Information

You must have the phone number and email address available.

A Wipe should only be undertaken at the request/re-
WARNING!!! commendation of the Helpdesk. Both ISIS servers
must be de-registered before a wipe and reinstall
can be carried out.

Deregistration Procedure
Carry out the steps in this procedure if instructed to do so by the Helpdesk. If the Wipe
& Reinstall is part of a problem resolution, then usually de-registration will have been
performed by the Helpdesk. If at anytime during this procedure you are unable to suc-
cessfully de-register the servers contact the Helpdesk for assistance.
First, De-register ISIS1

• Double click on the ISIS Launcher icon or start browser and enter ISIS1 IP address.

Troubleshooting - Rebuilding VM’s

In the WSM, there is the possibility to uninstall/reinstall individual VM’s (ISTA, ISPA, EPC).
This procedure is necessary, for example, in the event of errors during the installation of
VM specific software packages, if a VM is offline and can not be restarted, or if related
PC client applications no longer start.

From the WSM Overview Screen:

• Select the desired problem VM and click the “Device Details” button.
• In the Device Configuration dialogue, click the “Replace Device...” button
and then “OK” in the pop-up window that follows.
After successful uninstallation, the VM is automatically reinstalled in the next mainte-
nance period.
* In the event that immediate usage of the VM is critical, manual reinstallation of available
software packages can be started via the “Software Overview” screen by clicking on
the “Install Software” button. After acknowledgement that the installation has been
started, there is an automatic switch to the “System Overview” screen. The relevant
VM status is shown in yellow for each server and the software installation indicator
is shown.

Note: During reinstallation, the relevant VM’s will be unavailable and

all related applications offline until installation is complete.
