On our first day working here in General Santos City International Airport. The
security manager of Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Mr. Edgar Bariñ an and the
safety manager Mr. Gaspar F. Figueroa was conducted our orientation before moving
forward to our job experience. They taught upon us the rules and regulations they have in
their company that must be carried out and if one of us broke the rules it will be a result of
ground cancellation. In the afternoon sir Don Rey O. Cimeni tour us in every facilities in
CAAP and they introduce us the machine and their function. They teach us the important of
every equipment and they told us the uses of the equipment.

EXPERIENCE

Second day of our work immersion I’d assign by transmitting information to avoid
traffic to the Air Traffic Controller or the Tambler Tower.

LEARNINNGS/INSIGHTS

The air traffic controller taught us the function of the control tower, how to
communicate the other air traffic controller, and to communicate other facilities in CAAP by
using a radio to avoid traffic. I’ve also learned the important of the time management
NOVEMBER 7, 2019/THURSDAY

EXPERIENCE

Third day of our work immersion I’d assign an having a communication by sending
email arrival and departure. And checking the wind, visibility, temperature and etc.

INSIGHTS

I learned the important of knowing the temperature, visibility, and also the direction
of the wind to avoid accident. They explain us the important of knowing the UTC or the
Universal Time Coordinate. The difference of UTC to the common time use of people is that
UTC is just have 23 hours and the 00:00 symbolized as 8:00 am in the morning. UTC time is
also included in encoding the departure, arrival and metar to having a right time wherever
you go.

NOVEMBER 8, 2019/FRIDAY

EXPERIENCE

Fourth day I’d assign by sending arrival/departure and metar to other control
tower.

INSIGHTS

My third day in control tower was the same on my second day in the control tower. I
sending arrival, departure, and metar to the other air traffic controller to avoid traffic and
accident. Air traffic controller told us the important of knowing how many planes and what
planes are being arrive and depart.
NOVEMBER 9, 2019/SATURDAY

EXPERIENCE

Fifth day sir Gaspar the safety manager told us to study in the conference room
because we are having a SASE examination in the next day.

INISGHTS

When they are all in the conference room to study to have a confident to answer in
the SASE Examination. I felt so thankful for the understanding and opportunity to study
giving by our loving sir Gaspar F. Figueroa a Safety Manager and Immersion Head.

NOVEMBER 11, 2019/MONDAY

EXPERIENCE

Sixth day of our work immersion I’d assign in the power plant. The facilities of the
power plant told us the function of every equipment and their uses. They oriented us and
tour us the whole Power Plant and also they told us the rules of the Power Plant.

INISGHTS

My sixth day of my work immersion and this is my first day of the power plant I felt
a little bit nervous because our classmates told us the facilities of the power house is very
strict and have a many rules. But the power plant facilities is the happy place in the CAAP
because we are doing a lot that we can help us to pursue our chosen career in the future.
They teach us the functions of every equipment and they also told us the Airfield Lighting
System (AFLS) and the flow of electric current to the entire airport. The Socoteco 2 is
proving a 69KV of power to the entire airport and if it losses power for having a blackout
the Generator of the CAAP will serve as the back-up that will provide enough electricity to
the Admin, Contol Tower, Constant Current Regulator (CCR), Airfield Lighting System
(AFLS), Pump house, and Terminal building. Sir Jay R. Sandueta the Air Navigation Service
Supervisor give as the assigned topic for tomorrow.
NOVEMBER 12, 2019/TUESDAY

EXPERIENCE

Seventh day of our immersion I’d report of my assigned topic which is the Air Field
Lighting System (AFLS). And sir Jay told us to go in the field to test the ground to know if
their having an calamity and to know the temperature of the ground.

INISGHTS

In my second day of power house the facilities of the power plant and the
equipment room bring us to the field to test the ground to know the temperature of the
ground and to check the machine which is connected and detected in every equipment in
the Power Plant and the Equipment Room. And the afternoon we are having a reporting
and I’d reported my assigned topic which is the Air Field Lighting System (AFLS) there
was a different types of lights in the airport and these are the General Airport Lightning;
Taxiway Edge Light, Runway Edge Light, PAPI Light, Runway Threshold or End Light,
Runway Edge Identifier Light (REIL), Aerodrome Rotating Beacon, Illuminated Wind
Direction Indicator also know as Wind Cone. The taxiway edge light are blue in color and
line the taxiways, to see the pilot the edge of the runway in the evening to avoid accident.
Runway edge light and runway threshold light are the most important lights in the airport,
they allow a pilot to identify the beginning and the end of a runway, the runway edge light
are steady white lights on the edges of the runway, the white lights change to yellow during
2,000 feet, or half the runway length, they turn red as the aircraft reaches the end of the
runway. PAPI lights stand for Precision Approach Path Indicator, PAPI lights are arrange
horizontally, and typically include four lights that can be red or white, depending on where
the aircraft is in the glideslope, and a typical PAPI lights located in the left side of the
runway.

room was capable to record and deliver the message of the Pilot and the Air Traffic
Controller. And the afternoon sir Rheds evaluate us and ask a question of what we have
learned in the CAAP of our whole journey in the CAAP.

NOVEMBER 15, 2019/FRIDAY

the equipment of the power house.
