l. Introduction:
In our society, majorities of human used a powerful technology. But first of all
technology is a use of science in industry, engineering to invest useful things or to solve
problems (Merriam- Webster Dictionary). Technology helps humans to lighten the works that is
assigned to everyone. Technology also gives happiness to the humans. In many times, the
products of technology replaced humans in their works. When it comes to the library, technology
exists. Since the library is not different from any firm and institution. Considering the use of
computer to perform a given task will be efficient.
The Librarian is the authorized person that can manage and monitor the things inside the
library. He/She is the one who are in charge in the inventory and information of books and the
books that borrowed. In many library, manual system is the one that is use and it cause data
redundancy, lost of books, long transaction of borrowing and returning of books. But in the used
of Automated Library System, the library will be organized, the books inside it and data’s that
should be stored. It will lessen the time of borrower and also the librarian of the school. The
Library System is more efficient than the manual transaction.

Background of the Study

In school year 2013-2014, the Green Fields Integrated School of Laguna (GFIS)
started its operation propelled by an ardent desire of providing the best for the students in terms
of academic excellence.
The school offers preparatory courses (Nursery, Kinder, Preparatory) Elementary and
Secondary levels. In the first placed it comes from a Korean school that named Green Fields
International School. But when it owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Dioko with their daughter
Ms. Kirstein Dioko as the president, the school named change into Green Fields Integrated
School of Laguna.
The school has a three stored buildings with facilities like audio visual room etc. In
the year passes the school had a hundreds of students. The school located at San Lorenzo South,
Villa Segovia, Dita City of Santa Rosa Laguna was surrounded by subdivision and residential
places making it accessible for the students living in the vicinity.

II. Conceptual Framework

The proponents conducted some research and interview about library system. The proponents
offer an Automated Library System of Green Fields Integrated School of Laguna to help them
upgrade their manual method of recording of data’s

The proponents classified the method used in the development stage of the proposed system. In
Figure1: Input Stage, this includes all the steps in gathering the information that is needed in
developing the system. In Figure2: Process Stage, this consists of the application and programs
that is the proponents used in the development stage of the system. In Figure3: Output Stage, it
is the stage wherein the proposed system is now ready to use by the end-user.

III. Statement of the Problem

1. Monitoring of books
2. Data redundancy
3. Monitoring of penalty
4. Long transaction of returning and borrowing of books

IV. Objectives of the Study

A. General Objective

To develop an Automated Library System of Green Fields Integrated School of

Laguna that will store students records. The system can monitor the records of books that
have been borrowed and returned.
B. Specific Objectives

1. To create a system that will lessen the time of students in their transaction.
2. To analyzed the books that cannot bring out at the library.
3. To design a system that can prevent long transaction of borrowing and returning of
books.
4. To develop a system that can monitor the penalty of the students.

V. Scopes and Delimitations

A. Scopes
1. Can easily store the student’s information.
2. Can store books information.
3. It can prevent data redundancy.
4. It can update name of courses.
5. It can monitor penalty that will deduct in the student’s clearance.

B. Delimitations
1. It can’t support online transactions.

VI. Significance of the Study

A. The Students of Green Fields Integrated School of Laguna

- This research will be beneficial to the students because it will help them in finding the
books that they needed. It can help lessen their time in their transaction.

B. The Librarian of Green Fields Integrated School of Laguna

- This research will be beneficial to the librarian of the School because he/she is the
one who are in charge in managing and monitoring of books. The duty of the librarian
will be lessen but accurate in terms of storing data’s & information.

C. The Proponents

- Through developing the system the proponents gain more knowledge and skills, and
experience in doing a system and how a library system works.
