PROJECT ASSESSMENT

A. Definition of project assessment

According to Arikunto, project assessment is generally an activity
rating of a task to be completed within a period/ a specified time. The task of
such an investigation since the planning, data collection, organizing,
processing and presentation of data. Assessment of the project can be used to
determine the understanding, the ability to apply, the ability of inquiry and the
ability to inform students on specific subjects clearly.
Project appraisal is an assessment activity of a task that must be
completed within a certain period/ time. The task is an investigation since the
planning, data collection, organizing, processing and presentation of data.
Project appraisal can be used to determine understanding, applicability, ability
to investigate and the ability to inform learners on specific subjects clearly.
In the assessment of projects generally use learning methods that solve
the problem as a first step in gathering and integrate new knowledge based on
experience in real activity.
Assessment is an activity that is not integral to teaching and learning
activities in general, because the effectiveness of teaching and learning
activities depends on the assessment activities. Teaching and learning
activities will be effective if supported by effective assessment activities as
well. The fact shows that a teacher conducts assessment activities only to
fulfill the formal obligation, which is to determine the value for the student.
That is, there are still many teachers who do not understand properly for what
purpose the assessment activities carried out and what benefits can be taken
from the assessment activities that have been done.
According to Davis, evaluation is a process of collecting data to
determine the extent to which, in what way, and how educational objectives
have been achieved. A broader definition is put forward by two other experts,
Cronbach and Stufflebeam who say that the evaluation process is not just a
measure of the extent to which goals are achieved, but is used to make
decisions, in terms of achievement or learning outcomes.
B. Characteristics of the project assessment, among others:
Every model must have a learning evaluation criteria for the
assessment so that will be applied later vote really were able to assess and
measure the ability of students not only from an aspect example of the
cognitive aspect but also from several aspects. In addition it is necessary to an
assessment that is truly objective.
To determine whether the assessment of the project (project
assessment) can already be considered a good quality, then at least be aware
of these seven criteria, among others:
1. Generability
Generability means if project work the students in performing the tasks
assigned are sufficient generalizable to duties another task? In this case,
the tasks can be compared with the other tasks that the job quality is
getting better. The assumption is that the task is also weighted as forms of
other tasks.
2. Authenticity
Authenticity means whether a given task is already similar to what is
commonly encountered in the practice of everyday life. For example,
when students received material about GREETING therefore students will
easily to practice.
3. Multiple foci
Multiple foci of meaning whether the tasks given to learners who have
measured over a desired capability. It could be a student has a good ability
to memorize and analyze a material, but weak in practice. For that the
teacher can supplement the shortcomings of psychomotor aspect by
looking at cognitive ability.
4. Teach ability
Teachability means that a given task is a task that the results are better for
their efforts to teach teachers. So the tasks assigned to project work or
project appraisals are tasks relevant to what the teacher teaches in the
classroom.
5. Fairness
Fairness means that if the task given are fair to all learners. So these tasks
must have thought, if all the students do the work or not on the basis that
the ability of each student must be different and diverse. Sometimes in a
group are relatively easy task, sometimes there is considered difficult and
sometimes there is a feeling of inadequacy. For that teachers should be
able to measure the extent to which the ability of students on average.
6. Feasibility
Feasibility means that the tasks given in the relevant assessment of the
project is to be carried out considering factors such as cost, space (places),
time or equipment. Each school has different abilities both human
resources and equipment of infrastructure facilities.
7. Score ability
Score ability in an assessment is the most basic thing for to determine
whether a vote is valid. This means that if a given task can later in the
score with accurate and reliable so that the results obtained are valid. In
the assessment of the project, a teacher must be careful in terms of his
scoring because it is one that is sensitive of the project assessment is
scoring
C. procedures and steps are
Steps in the assessment of the project include:
1. Determine the various types of projects in a year.
2. For each project, create a schedule of when the project started, when each
part of the project should be completed, when the preliminary draft is
collected and when the final product is expected to finish.
3. Show the students some sample projects that have been completed.
4. Encourage students to develop criteria for assessing the quality of a
number of projects that have been completed, in terms of appearance,
findings, or information.
5. Strive students learn how to use a rubric that we gave earlier.
6. Encourage students to complete the project with the help of the school.
7. Strive students’ present completed projects.
8. Students submit a project for assessment.
D. Advantages and Disadvantages
Haryati in his book, Model and Engineering Assessment revealed
several advantages and disadvantages of the type of project appraisal among
others:
Advantages
1. Increasing motivation.
2. Enhance the problem solving.
3. Improve collaboration.
4. Improving the skills to manage resources.
5. Improving skills
Disadvantages:
1. Most of the problems of the "real world" that is integral with discipline
problems, it is advisable to teach by training and facilitate learners in
dealing with problems.
2. It requires a lot of time to be done to resolve the problem.
E. Data Processing Project Assessment

Project assessment data (project work) includes score acquisition of

assessment planning, implementing, culmination, product, and attitude. In
assessing each stage, teachers can use the four (4) range of scores,

Status Score Predicate

incompetent 0.00 to 6.90 poor
7.00 to 7.90 Fair
8.00 to 8.90 very good
incompetent 9.00 to 10 Excellent
