1 Chapter Prologue
1.1. Description

The VISTA series Large Format Digital Inkjet Printer is produced by Beijing JinHengFeng Digital
Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd. It is digital equipment, which is controlled by the
computer, can output colorful images automatically. It adopts automatic colorful output, which is
controlled by computer, and all of the digital equipment makes sure the easy operation.

1.1.1 The Expected aim

It can be used for outdoors printing such as billboards, bus advertisement, light box, poster, display,
stage backgrounds, signboards, and etc, which needs durability and high speed.

1.1.2 The media:

Solvent- based flexes, paper, banner, mesh, vinyl and so on. Any media manufacturer is ok, but good
quality media is strongly suggested to get great printing impact and long lifespan printing outdoors.

1.1.3 The Ink

Solvent based ink、oil based ink, UV ink (this is up to the print head model and ink supply system and
resolution.)Any ink manufacturer is ok, but good quality ink is strongly suggested to extend the print
heads life, get great printing impact, and longer lifespan printing outdoors.

1.1.4 The Print-Heads

Print heads of British XAAR Company and American SPECTRA Company, Japan Seiko and Japan
Konica. With the development of market, more print-heads will be optional.

1.1.5 The RIP Software

Maintop, Photo print, Wasatch(different control system with different RIP).

1.1.6 Models

non-vacuum covers are optional.

1.1.11 Operators

One or two operators, which is familiar with computer, electronics, electrics and mechanism, and got
professional printing training.

Humidity:40%-60% , the temperature watch and barothermohy grogram must be installed

Air: 0.7 MPA dry air, dustproof device, and ventilation device.

Regulator: 1KVA UPS

Grounding: The printer must be grounded; the earth-plate must be firm and effective, so that the
printer can prevent itself from static and leakage. If you don’t have the standard grounding device in
the workshop, you must do as the following:

Dig a hole of 1 meter-length,1 meter-width and 1.5 Meter-depth, put one piece of metal plate,
especially copperplate, of 10mm-thickness and connect a lead wire to the ground as the grounding end.
You should not use the pipe or the conductor you think of. The static of the printer can not be higher
than 5V!

1.2. Safety Precautions! Warning!

Vista printers are designed accord with all the safety requirements of printing equipments. But to
ensure 100% safety, the operator should follow the safety precaution and operation instruction of this
manual and the improved version in future seriously.

Only the operator who is correctly trained and qualified to operation can be allowed to do installation
& maintenance.

Without JHF’s written permission, any modification, deletion, or replacement of the printer is
prohibited; or the machine warranty will be invalidate immediately.

The operator should learn this manual seriously and keep the manual somewhere, which is easy to get.

Since the equipment is a separate system, please do not use same power supply with other
power-eating equipments or electric interferential equipments to prevent the machine from electric
harm.

During the process of equipment works, the abruptly power off or Over-strong voltage (current) will
bring to un-forecast damages.

Neither let the equipment works near flammable liquid or gas, nor under the environment of excessive
dry and wet place.

To prevent the electronic parts from hot, please do not block the intake.

The computer is only used for controlling the printer. You are recommended that you won’t install any
other software except the printing software lest occur the software interference caused by virus or
different RIP software, and decrease the working speed and even the computer freezes suddenly. You
are also recommended that you have another computer for designing the RIP file purpose. When the
RIP file is ready, you save it in the printer’s computer. You are recommended to delete the file or save
the file in disc, floppy disc or other computer after the file has been printed instead of saving the file in
the printer’s computer.

The ink and solution are harmful for people’s eyes and skin; you should clean it as soon as it splashes
into the eyes. Please keep the ink and solution away from the children.

The ink and solution have the property of volatilization, so you should cover it when it isn’t used
against the volatilization of the efficient components, which may cause the ink and solution
invalidation. The invalid ink will damage the print head. The ink should be shook before it will be
used.

Please make sure there is no ink on the electric circuit board and cables lest circuit short or turn-off.

It is strongly suggested that you turn off the general power before you disconnect or connect any parts
of the printer.

Some cables in chain along the print-head carriage move frequently, so the connection on both ends
should be fixed tightly in case the strong movement causes the phenomenon of incomplete sending
-signal.

It the equipment can not work normally, please check the troubleshooting and make some maintenance
and repair, and also you should contact with service department of JHF Company to get some help.

JHF Company can not promise that once a person read this manual then he/she can be eligible to
operate, test and calibrate this printer.

JHF Company has right to explain this manual, and can not ensure this manual is totally in line with
your purchased machine model due to the market change. Please ask latest manual to match your
machine.

2.2.1 Mechanism System:

It includes media movement system and carriage movement system. The structure map of the mechanism

.2.2.1.1 Media Movement System

Media Movement System includes initiative movement system and driven movement.

Initiative movement system:

It includes stepping- motor driver, stepping motor, reducer and initiative roller.

The initiative movement system can move or stop after receiving the order of printing software from the
computer. The moving orientation and distance of the media can be changed by the way of changing the
relevant parameters in the software. For more details of the parameters adjustment in the software, please
refer to software explaining chapter.

Driven movement system:

It includes Reducer, single phase motor and winding roller. The media roller switch on the panel of the
printer controls the movement of the driven movement system.

2.2.1.2 Carriage Movement

The Movement System of the Print head carriage is also named as Servo Control System. It includes Servo
Motor, Reducer of Servo Motor, Driver of Servo Motor and Feeding Belt.

The print head carriage receives the order from the printing control software in the computer, and it will
move or stop through the feeding belt. The movement of the Servo Motor is controlled by the Driver of the
Servo motor. The adjustment way of the parameters for the Servo motor is as follows.

1. Pressing the increase or minish switch when the thermostat is working, the panel window will show

temperature setting value (SV). Press the increase switch, the temperature setting value will add 1 and

press the minish switch, the temperature setting value (SV) will decrease 1.

2. The temperature setting and alarm setting is same as initial parameters setup.

3. Relay connection value and break value illumination.

① If you set AH1=AL1, or AH2=AL2, the relay cannot work;

② If you set AH1>AL1, or AH2>AL2, relay works, it is used to up limit alarm;

③ If you set AH1<AL1, or AH2<AL2, relay works, it is used to bottom limit alarm.

2.2.3Ink Supply System

2), Press the reset switch then the electric magnetic valve and air pump begin to press ink separately

3), ink supply system

*Ink Supply: when the ink is on the bottom, floater sensor is on the bottom of the sub ink tank, it gives the
signal of connection, the ink supply board and the main ink tank is connected by the 24V, and the pump
works, the ink is going to the ink tank; when is on the upper limit level, the floater sensor gives the break
signal, ink supply is stopped. During printing, the ink in sub ink tank will falls gradually, after the ink
supply, the ink level increases again. It means the ink will be kept in a suitable scope to keep the printing
works well.

*Lack-ink Alarm: when the ink in the main ink tank is going finishing, the pump will keep working because
the connection signal keeps. When the pump works out of the time limit (the time to fill two sub ink tanks
time under the normal ink supply condition), the ink supply board will alarm and the indicator will blink to
remind the operator to fill the ink.

(1)The electronic circuit of electromagnetism valve and air pump is link parallel, and they will work
together and press the ink automatically to meet the aim of balancing the air pressure.

2)Press the ink: Press the button, the air pump press the air to electromagnetism valve and it will work, this
time B and A is thorough to keep the effect of press ink.

3)Printing: loose the button, the air pump and electromagnetism valve all stop working, now the A and C is
thorough to keep the balance of ink box pressure.

4)Cleaning the ink from the surface of print head and beginning working.

2.2.4. The Control System

The controlling system of VISTA printer consists of computer (software included), relevant electronic
circuit board, the controlling switch, electronic cable etc.

3. Control Panel and switches functions:

Emergency Switch—presses it down, it will break the servo motor driver (encoder) power, and the carriage
will stop movement. When the printing has something abnormally, you have to stop the machine running
immediately; you can press this button down. This operation will prevent the print heads and other
components from damage, but it will also lose the printing, you must print it again. Please do use this
button carefully

Switch 9(general power switch): Press it down, the light will turn on and the machine gets the power. Also,
it connects 5v/24 v, 48 v power supply board and supply the power for the servo motor driver.

Switch 8(fan switch): Press it down, the light will turn on and the machine gets the power. Also, it connects
5v/24 v, 48 v power supply board and supply the power for the servo motor driver.

Switch 3 (print head switch): Press it down, the light will turn on and the print head gets the power. Also, it
connects 35v power supply board.

Switch 1, 2, 3,5,6,7 switches: Press it down, the light on it will turn on and it connects single –phase power,
controlling the feeding and take-up rollers.

Machine operation order:

To make sure if the printer is out of power


Press down” general power” switch and the machine gets the electricity when the indicator light is on
Open the computer to run the JHF Printing Management.
Press the print head switch down, the light indicator turns on, the print head gets the power.
If the output is almost dry, please press down the” fan” switch.
Press the “automatic feeding advance, automatic feeding reverse, manual take-up advance and manual
take-up reverse. Please note that it is not allowed to press down two switches or more than two
switches. Otherwise, the single direction power will not run.

The order of turn off: Turn off the print head power, turn off the computer power, and then turn off
other witches to make all light indicators off. Finally, turn off the “general power” switch and let the light
off.

2.2.5. Maintenance

To maintain the machine, you need: one pc of vacuum cleaner;

Print Heads Cleaning Tools: injector, test paper, solvent.

Vacuum cleaner: it is used to clean the print head during the printing, controlled by the software. The user is
required to connect the vacuum cleaner tube and vacuum terminal tightly as the picture 2-16.

The vacuum cleaner is prepared by the user. It is suggested to use dry-wet multiple use type vacuum cleaner,
with about 1000 w power.

3.Cleaning print head tool: The user needs non-spin fabric, injector, test paper, and solvent to clean the
print head.

4. The machine is equipped with a print head protection salver as the picture 2-7. The end-user can put the
solvent into the antisepsis sponge and cover the tray below the print head carriage holder after stopping
printing but with the print heads on the machine. When you doing that, please make sure the tray covers the
print heads and absorb the magnet against the print head carriage holder. It can last the print head wet for at
most 8 hours if there isn’t any space. If there is any space between the magnet and print head carriage
holder, please use the antisepsis sponge for replacement. It is not absolutely safety way. It is just a kind of
convenient tool.

Note: when the general power or the power for the print head is on , do not use the protection salver, or else
the circuit in the print head will be disturb, and affect the print head.

3 Operation Instruction
3.1 Operation sequence outline

1) Please put the package at working place. Prevent it from shaking.

2) Please disassemble the crate step by step and check the spare parts according to the attached
package list. Using a forklift to move the printer to the working house.

3) Check if the printer is put at a good level.

4) Move away all fastened spare parts from the print head carriage and install all the spare parts.

5) Move the print head carriage by hand to make sure if the print head carriage belt and linear encoder
sensor are installed in suitable position.

6) Grounding the printer to make sure the static voltage is below 1 V.

7) Put the PCI card inside the computer and connect the flat cable and movement controlling cable
between the computer and printer and also check its other power cables and signal cables to make sure
they are connected well and rightly.

8) Install the printing software and RIP software with the computer.

9) When turn on the printer, please put the hand nearby the emergency switch to deal with the
accident.

10) Send a file to the printer to check the printing

11) Turn off the printer. Please fix the print head and then fix the signal cables between the print head
and transforming board.

12) Please clean the print head one by one with the cleaning solution. Please keep the cleaning
solution in the print head at least 10 minutes in order to get ride of the protection liquid inside the print
head absolutely. Additionally, please let off the cleaning solution from the print head completely.

13) Connect the ink supply system, which supplies the ink.

14) Please use the positive or negative pressure to make the ink out of the print head, and then wipe off
the superfluous ink on the print head face.

16) Adjusting the print head

3.2 Operation Instructions

3.2.1 Power Operation

UM model: turn on the printer general power witch breaker (AC 220V, 50HZ, make it sure the
power socket is connected to the ground well). V model: turn on the general power on the control panel.
Turn on the computer with Windows XP, install PCI card and its driver and printing software.
(Please refer to the software installation manual).
Before printing, please make it sure that the distance switches work well. It needs two people to
operate. Operator A operate the computer, moves the carriage to right side by software, the operator B
press the right distance switch, the carriage will stop immediately at normal condition. And then press
down the emergency switch, and loose the right distance switch. Repeat it to make it sure the right
distance switch is ok. A moves the carriage to left, B presses the left distance switch, the carriage will
stop at the normal condition. Repeat it, make it sure the left distance switch is ok.
Operate the software, control the each part of the machine movements, and confirm the machine
is ok.

A Model Feeding Structure

Please put the media between the two feed rollers, thread through the feeding wheels and press wheels,
align the media edge, press the media handle, move the media and see if it is flat or not. If not, please
do it again.

3.2.3. Installation Print head

Firstly, please fix the print head, secondly, connect the ink tube and print head ink inlet tubes and
thirdly connect the cable between the print head and transforming board. Please remember to block the
outlet after the print head can jet.

Cleaning print head: Clean the print head one by one with the cleaning solution. Please keep the
cleaning solution in the print head at least 10 minutes in order to get rid of the protection liquid inside
the print head absolutely. Additionally, please let off the cleaning solution from the print head
completely.

When installing or uninstalling the print heads, please do not turn on the printer power. Please
wear special gloves to keep from static. The static will damage the small print heads chips and print
heads.

3.2.4 Testing the Electric Circuit Board

Testing the color boar: The light for the 12v and 24 are on and these lights are winking when the
computer loading the program, but not printing. If so, it means that the color board is working well.

Print head chip: If the light on the chip glitters, it means that the chip is working well.

The servo motor board: The status light shines, the ink supply light is on when supplying ink and the
12v and 24 v indicators light is on all the time and distance switch indicator light is off all the time. If
so, it means that the servo motor board works well.

PCI card: The power indicator light is on, the direction light is on when moving and two lights are on
all the time when working. If so, it means that the PCI card works well.

3.2.5 Check the Raster Positioning System

Check if the raster is installed well or not: it should be straight and tension, the blocks should be close
to the raster, and the two sides should be fixed firmly.

Check the Raster sensor: should be 1-2mm to the raster top edge.

Check raster: if there is scar, or there is ink, oil on it.

3.2.6. Ink Supply

Supply the ink to the sub ink tank:

A) Make sure all the ink tube is connected well.

B) Turn-on the printer general power.

C) Connect the ink level sensor of each color to floater accordingly.

D) Make sure 4 or 6 ink pumps to start work and second ink tank refilling the ink.

When you turn on the ink-supply power, the indicator light which is on the ink-supply board will be
shining, and

ink-pumps will be turning. Then the secondary ink tank will reserve ink and the pump will stop
working. It is because when

The ink rises to a certain level , the ink-level sensor inside the secondary ink tank sends signal to the
pump.

Supply ink to the print head

。Please connect the print head ink outlet and inlet ink tube and connect a small length of small size ink
tube with the print head ink outlet tube. Press down the positive switch to let the ink come in from the

inlet ink tube. Please lift this length of the tube when the ink is out from the ink tube. Normally, the
ink will flow from the print head caused from the positive pressure

3.2.7. Start Printing

Start printing: Please print the required image according to the manual of the printing software.

3.2.8. End Printing

Finish printing: exit the printing system software, and then turn off the switch of the print head, of
computer, of heating system, of power supply (close the breaker of the power supply), and also cover
the electric box.

4 The way of dealing with the image for the


vista software
This printing system software only supplies printing process for chosen file, but not able to do image
edition and pretreatment. Meanwhile, the printing system software can only identify and print 180DPI,
single color 8- bitmap file. The user shall use third party software with powerful function to edit and
pre-treat the image. The users are recommended to use PHOTOSHOP 6.01 version software which is
produced by ADOBE Company to design the image for printer.

This manual takes the PHOTOSHOP 6.01 as an example to explain to provide the image file for the
printing system software. As for the detailed usage of PHOTOSHOP, please refer to the special book
for Photoshop.

4.1 Design Image

The image designer uses suitable image editing software to design wanted and needed image, and save
it as the format, which can be identified, by Photoshop software.

4.2 Change the image as CMYK format

The users adopt PHOTOSHOP to open the saved image, and transfer the image by Image/Mode/
CMYK Color to CMYK format, and change the image as 8 Bits/Channel.

4.3 Setting Image Size

The practical size of the image file, which is set up in the computer, should be in accordance with the
size of printing image, so the practical size of the image file should be adjusted. Please refer to the
following picture

Note: the image designer should finish the operation of this part, so this manual won’t introduce in
detail. For further detailed information, please refer to the special book of PHOTOSHOP.

4.4 Merge Image Layers

The users may use more image layer when they design the image, and they need to use the order in
picture to merge the image layer. Refer to image.

for this. To choose merge order to put together all image layers. If the users don’t use more image

layer, the order of merge will show gray. The users can skip over this operational step, and go through
to the next operational step.

4.5 Save the image file

The users can save the image file by orders of file/save after modifying the image file.

The users choose the file format as TIFF, BMP, EPS or JPEG in the dialog box of save, then the name
of the file can be modified.

Note: the file format must be saved as TIFF, because the saved image file have to set up type by
MAINTOP software, and then the image can be printer with the printing system software by the digital
printer. However, the MAINTOP software typeset software can only identify the image file of TIFF
format

At present, one image file has been modified, you make typesetting and output.

5 RIP Software PHOTOPRINT Guide


5.1 Install PHOTOPRINT

Insert PHOTOPRINT CD。

PHOTOPRINT will install itself

Enter “will install the procedure”,‘procedure choice:PHOTOPRINT, language choice’:Chinese


or English,then click “the next”

“install enactment ”,put in the user and password,then click “the next”;the name of the user and
the password in the dongle.

‘welcome ……’click “the next”

‘license agreement ’,choose ‘agree’,click” the next”

‘function choice’,choose the disk which has large memory,click “the next”

Choose the installation type to install the software.;we suggest the” standard installation”;then click
“the next”.

Choose the folder, which is used for save the software. If you accept the default folder,a new folder
will come automatically to save the software. Click” the next”.

Click “yes” clean the presetting or click “no” save the primary presetting .

you must make sure the password for the dongle is right,or else you can not open the RIP

software;if do not have the dongle ,the RIP software will not work. The dongle is used to forbidden
the stealing copy , whenever you use the software , you must install the dongle in your computer.

5.2 Set the printer

After finish the installation,at first you must set the printer.

Production Manager the procedure run automatically, then collocate the printer, choose the printer in
the new menu.

Driver click this button to display the driver procedure dialog box, the dialog box include
all the setting which correlative the output equipment. The output equipment panel can set the most
setting for the driver procedure.

Liberation model choose the liberation model for output.

Screen the button is practicable, when you choose the angle screen. You can explain each
frequency, angle, figure for the color belt screen.

Consistency adjustment it used for the consistency contour of output equipment.

Color alignment: check the option and make sure it is activation. If you did not check this setting, the
ICC configuration file which aligned color in the internet application software will check this option,
force RIP to use the ICC configuration file which exist in the operation file.

ICC input configuration file: choose ICC configuration file to change the dicey color space.

Color management: use the default color management.

ICC output configuration file: choose the ICC configuration file to match the media, fill the ink to the
printer.

位图 color space conversion mode: Choose the space conversion model, which exist in the bitmap
image.

Vector color space transform model: choose space model, which was used in the vector object

Information: click this button to display the attribute dialog box of configuration; the details of the
output configuration file, which has selected will be displayed. Thus you can use it to check if the
selected configuration files match the media.

Color model: choose the applicable ink for the setting of printer. If the printer support manifold color
model, you can choose one from them.

Separate the printing color: choose this page, and print one by one

Frontispiece: this option is optional when you choose 打印色分离,when you check this option,it
will print the image as frontispiece.

Liberation model is device model. each point for the image will be adopted by the media. Each
liberation model has the advantage in the RIP speed and the quality. The best liberation model for
the machine is the default.

5.7 The notice for PHOTOPRINT

The PHOTOPRINT software enclose the manual, and the file references. The operation notice as the
following:

The image resolution, pass number must match the printing control system, while you deal with
RIP, in order to get the perfect effect.
The image resolution, size correspond with data size, the date size decide the operation time for
computer.
After PHOTOPRINT finish RIP, the color route will become CMYK, thus the image should be
TIFF.

6 The basic operation of the printing system


6.1. The characteristic of this printing system:

Print head group: 4 or 6 KM512 print head


Resolution: X point: 360DPI\240DPI\180DPI; Y point: 720DPI\540DPI\360DPI\180DPI
Color: 4 or 6 color
Printing mode: 1,2,3,4,6,8,12,16 pass;
The input of the image: File or TCP/IP (printing while ripping)
Output preview: Preview the image after changing the pm file into bmp little picture file.
Any of print head can be turned on or turned off freely
Automatic printing: Blank skip in X & Y direction
It can print with so many pictures copied lengthways.
Automatic pump: It can pump the print head automatically while printing.
Flashing: It is used for protecting the print head from block while it is not working.
The color bar: Used to protect the print head from concreting, monitor the state of the print head,
and set the distance & width between the image and the color bar.
Adjust the data of print head alignment and media feeding size during printing.
The printing direction can be set accordingly with option of unilateralist printing and
bi-directional printing, mirror image printing.
Lighten the edge: Use to lighten the pass line.

6.2. Printing Software Installation

6.2.1. Control Software Installation

open the CD V1806FNS /V2506FNS/V2506FS/V3306FS(different software for different model)


double click, circulate “Setup.exe”
“choose install langue”, choose “Chinese” “English” then click “ok”
“Welcome use…”,then” next”
“choose a place to install the procedure”,then “next” for example you install it in C:\Program
Files
“choose programmed group”, then “next”
“copy the file”,then” next”
“Finish installation” click” finish”
A shortcut way will come on the desktop, for example “JHF V3306FS V2.07cn”

6.2.2. PCI Card Installation

Plug the PCI card into the PC, and then start the PC.

Attentions: please make sure that the right procedure is followed whenever you want to plug or
pull out the PCI card, otherwise, the PCI may be damaged.

After the windows started, it find PCI card. You should search the subdirectory of PCI Card driver
while install the Driver. (Or decompress PCI Card Driver)

6.3. The application for control software

6.3.1. Printer Configuration

Double click the shortcut mode “JHF V3306FS V2.07En”run the control software,” please choose the
printing configuration file”, as the following:

Choose the V3306FS—180dpi/ V3306FS—240dpi/ V3306FS—360dpi/,choice gist:the resolution


must be the same as the image resolution which was deal with the RIP software and ICC.

Choose the default ”reposition”; click “ok”, the carriage return to the original position. it is the
printing original point; The control software will be opened and enter the main interface, or choose”
do not anything”, the carriage has no reaction, then the control software will be opened and enter the
main interface.

When the printer is on, enter this dialog and press “Read” switch and download 4 and 6 print head
voltage parameter.

Note: please don’t press “Write” first, otherwise it will write wrong parameter into the print head
transforming board.

Only the “HV offset” row parameter is revisable. The PH 1 column matches print head K, the PH2
column matches print head C, the PH3 column matches print head M, the PH4 column matches print
head Y, the PH5 column matches print head Lc, and the PH6 column matches print head Lm. The
value adjustable scope for the “ HV offset” row is -127-127. If set this parameter as “Zero”, it means
that voltage will not do excursion.. If choose” permit the print head adjust electric pressure”, it will
adjust automatically according to the temperature change. If don’t choose” permit the print head adjust
electric pressure”, the print head voltage will not change.

Note: When press down “ Read” or “Write” switch and turn on “ printer”, the software system will
automatically return to the automatically adjusting voltage status except that you don’t choose the
“ permit the print head voltage adjust” function.

The voltage is the power of the ink jetting, the temperature and the humidity will affect the ink jetting
serious. The lower voltage can cause the ink jump, the higher voltage can cause the ink break. You
should adjust the voltage depend on the ink

Adjust the voltage to make sure the voltage is above 15, when you adjust the voltage you should put
in the parameter between -5----+5 in the voltage excursion

Adjust the voltage excursion parameter according to the temperature/ voltage value listed on
above-listed table to make the head voltage to close the actual output voltage. When the value is close

to the actual output voltage, normally, it can print formally. If it is still lack of lack of ink, please low
the voltage until the printer can print normally.

Printing position: the distance between the start print position and the cleaning terminal. Unit is mm.

Blank edge: the distance between the left edge of the material and the cleaning terminal. The unit is

Full Printing

You can print mixed color square with 100% density ink quantity. By this test you can check the ink
saturation, and you can cancel one or more colors to test one or mixed colors full printing effect.

6.4. Fiber Installation:

Two fibers A & B used for connect the control card of the print head and PCI card, as there is connect
port of fiber for each control card. There is Tx and Rx stick on the port. While one end of the fiber
plug into Tx, then the other one should plug into Rx. Please kindly notice that you should point to the
right port.

Attentions: the fiber shouldn’t be curved or tied less than 90 degree. Otherwise, the 光纤 may

be damaged in the retrieval condition. Even lead to its disability to transfer the data directly. If you
want to change the point of the fiber, then 3cm Turning radius should be kept.

7 Daily maintenance and repair


JHF-Vista digital inkjet printer is a high-resolution, high-performance electronic production with
professional output of image which requires maintenance and repairs strictly in order to keep the
system in normal and stable order to insure output image with high resolution

7.1. Operating environment request

Power supply: single-phase 220v 50Hz; Power on 24hrs/ day

Operating temperature: 20-28℃

Relative humidity: 40-60%

Note: the working environment will affect the ink and then affect the output of printe

7.2 Operation & Maintenance Requirement

The task of the operation and maintenance need to be operated and maintained with professional
operator or the operator who got training from our Company and to be certified qualified. The user
must do strictly according to this manual.

1) Wear anti-static device when touching circuits, electric parts, cable, and print heads.

2) Strictly prohibit pull out or insert any plugs, circuits, and cables with electricity.

3) Strictly prohibit measure all kinds of electric parts of appliance with electricity.

4) When contacting the ink you should try to wear protect-eyepiece to avoid the ink entering
the eyes. If it is entering the eyes, you should wash with a plenty of clear water. And please go to see a
doctor, if necessary.

5) Shake the ink evenly twice every day.

6)Check distance switch and home position switch before turning on the printer every time.

The distance-switch is a limit protection for the print head movement, it gives stop instruction to the
print heads by the electronic device. Please check it if these limit-switches work before running the
printer every time. In case, the limit-switched don’t work well, which will affects the output of
printing, making output in misalignment. If so, please follow the following steps:

Please move the carriage from left to right after turn on the printer. When touching lightly the
right limit switch, the print head carriage stops, which means that the right limit-switch works
well; if not, please click the Stop button on tool bar under the printing software and stop the
carriage, then check the circuit and shoot the trouble.
Please move the carriage from right to left. When touching lightly the left limit switch, the print
head carriage stops, which means that the left limit-switch works well; if not, please click the
Stop button on tool bar under the printing software and stop the carriage, then check the circuit
and make the trouble-shooting.
Please move the carriage from right to left. When touching lightly the home position switch, the
print head carriage stops, which means that the home position-switch works well; if not, please
click the Stop button on tool bar under the printing software and stop the carriage, then check the
circuit and make the trouble-shooting.

7)Before printing and after printing, please clean the print head and make the print head in good
condition.

Please use special cloth or paper with cleaning solution on it to wipe the print head when cleaning the
print head. It is suggested to do like this every day before printing, if necessary repeat this work
between two printing jobs, which will ensure the output in perfect position.

Print head is very important device, the following is cleaning requirement:

Please wear gloves, glasses and protective cloth to protect the operation.
Please use the professional duster cloth, wipe paper to clean print heads
Please use professional cleaning solvent or solution recommended by us to clean the print head
and its surrounding;
Sucking print heads one by one to take the solvent and ink remained on the print heads surface by
the vacuum cleaner;
Please don’t scrape the surface of the print head when sucking;
After cleaning and sucking please test the print heads. If they are working well or not.
Automatic suction is critical to maintain print heads. To keep the print heads jetting please wipe
off the remained ink on the print heads surface.
Please lacquer the vacuum surface black to prevent the photoelectric cell running.
Please clean the print head lightly in uni-direction when cleaning the print head;
Please suck the print heads surface completely by vacuum after clean the print head by solvent.

8)Turn on and off the machine strictly in order.

9)Please change the filter every two months; if the filter is clogged, please replace immediately.

Drain the ink from the ink tube


Disconnect the ink tubes in the two ends of the filter, replace the filter.
Reconnect the ink tube and check if they are connected tightly and safely;
Make sure if the direction of the filter is in same direction as the direction of supplying ink

Note: The filter is a single direction appliance; when connecting, please make sure the flow of
the ink is in same direction as the filter.

(10)Change the ink tube one time every year

We suggest to replace the ink tube every year, if any ink tubes broke unexpected, please replace
immediately.

Exhaust all inks in the ink tube after turn off the printer and computer;
Clean new ink tubes one time by special cleaning solution to get rid of impurity inside the tube
and dry the cleaning solution inside new ink tube completely;

11)Cleaning the vacuum cleaner

The flexible tube with the vacuum cleaner will diminish after a long time, which will deduct air power
from the vacuum cleaner. In this case, changing a new flexible tube with the cleaner is necessary or
clean the flexible tube with a few of cleaning solution.

7.3. Print head Maintenance

7.3.1. Print head maintenance reason

The importance for print head maintenance as following:

The life of print head

The stable performance of print head

The quality of printing

The usage maintenance of print head will effect the motion of print head in all the system directly .
The purpose of maintenance is to keep the base case of print head working: clean the ink on the
nozzle and the waste ,drive the air in the nozzle tube. The standard of the environment above
according to the environment of setting the printer , the work loading of the system , the type of
ink ,the printing material , and the tactic for maintenance of print head.

7.3.2. The tactic of maintenance

A.Maintenance during printer operation

This maintenance is carried out during printer running. It is an automatic function which is executed at
specified time during printing, it support a reliable and continuous printing for the printing orders.

B. Maintenance for short term

Maintenance for short term should be need when the machine is in work-off for a while. For example,
it should be required at the very beginning of printing or after finishing the work. Suggestion is that
the maintenance should be an autoimmunization system in order to operate repeatedly and unfailingly.

C.Maintenance for long term

Maintenance for long term should be needed when work is finished all day or the whole system be
closed absolutely. All in all, the long-term maintenance is carried out with the state of work-off.

7.3.3. Print Head Maintenance

You can adopt one or mixed the follow daily maintenance ways:

A.Press and washing

Press and washing ways include two important functions:

To clean the air and contamination in the spout.

To clean the contamination in the nozzle.

Such of way could increase the heat of ink supply ,pressing the ink until gush out the hole ink of
nozzle.

If the temperature of the print head is different from the environment around, pressing and
cleaning can lead the temperature become low, then affect the function of the print head. so before
restart, you should do a warm up. one of these ways to avoid this warm up is heating the ink before it
come into the print head, then the temperature Is suit for the print head.

B.Vacuum cleaning

This technology to maintenance of print head can make the same impact as pressure cleaning ,but it
use vacuum effects nozzle and nozzle board area, drive the ink through the print head from the spout。
In order to do success in this technology and use it availably, before use the vacuum ,you should make

a sealed environment around the nozzle .only can use the soft material which has no harm to the
nozzle and also do no destroy to the surface 。

C.Mop up cleaning

Mop up cleaning including that use one piece (sh<40) to mop up the nozzle board .mop up cleaning
can drive the desiccated fibrin which can’t purge by printing cleaning .but it is possible to bring the
new contamination to other spout mop up cleaning should move to one position, keep the waste to the
one side .if move both sides, these waste will pileup and attached to the nozzle board. In order to avoid
polluted again, the best position is moving orthogonal to the spout. The angularity case of the piece
can course some operating problems, but you can choose a better angle.

After mopping up every time, you should put this mop piece to the mat which is renewable and
absorbent to clean. in order to avoid that mop piece destroying the nozzle board, mustn’t mop when
it is dry, usually before mopping you should do printing cleaning.

D.Vacuum mopping for cleaning

This way for maintenance print head has two main functions:

Drive the more printing ink on the nozzle board.

drive the infectant on the nozzle board

when the mop tube moving in the short distance, when through the nozzle board and spout line nearly,
please notice that cannot touching the nozzle board. Mop tube is a thin tube, connected to the vacuum,
so the ink can be absorbed along the nozzle board.

E.Mat for sucking ink

When print with some kind of ink, may be you will need some maintenance named “Suck out Ink”.
The suck mat can be exoteric, and is cloth or sponge which is capable to suck liquid. Please note to
protect the coating of the nozzle plate please do not mop up breadth wise.

The suction cloth or sponge should only touch the coating of the nozzle plate, but do not touch the
head place. It is better to suck the remaining ink after print heads extrusion and spray cleaning by this
material.

It is better to use this way of maintenance on the Non-Soakage Coating print heads nozzle plate.
Because it is hard to contrl the ink distributing on the head nozzle plate after filter absorbing.

After mopping up every time, you should put this mop piece to the mat which is renewable and
absorbent to clean. in order to avoid that mop piece destroying the nozzle plate, mustn’t mop when it
is dry, usually before mopping you should do printing cleaning.

F.Slipping printing

If the print head with full ink but doesn’t work in a long time, according to the chemic affection of the
ink in the spout, the ink touching the air, the quality will be changed. In certain time ,this can affect the
function of the print head ,even do a jam in the spout .slipping printing is the technology for using
print head, using continuing low frequency to make the fresh ink through the spout. This is good for
prepare using the print head. The quantity and the frequency of slipping printing is according to the
ink and the system configure and also the experience.

G.The covered hat

This hat cover is a program which used during the print head doesn’t work ,protect the nozzle board
be destroyed by dust。This hat is felicitous around the nozzle board, and prevents the air and dust get
into the nozzle board. Some hats may have some liquid, this is good for printing ink volatilization,
then the spout will be dry。Vista printers design a special part to protect print head for customer, and
the customer can choose which they need.

The customer cannot use this slipping printing as the main function, and don’t omit the right ways for
maintenance print head。

7.4. The maintenance for the system of M model

The screws of motion parts should be screwed down frequently.

The rail should be lubricated weekly

The gears should be lubricated every half year)

The screws which fixed the print heads should be screwed down monthly

The fastnesses of the printer structures should be fixed yearly.

8 Daily Troubleshooting
Trouble: The carriage doesn’t move properly

A, Reason: There is no power supply for the servo card

Procedure: Please check if the power light is working, and connect the power supply correct..

B, Reason: the data cable is not connected correctly (the software will show STS 01111)

Procedure: Please shut off the power supply and PC, reconnect the power supply and pc.

C, Reason: the driver doesn’t work normal (the driver warns error)

Procedure: adjust the driver PID, if It can’t work well yet after changing, please replace a new one.

D, Reason: the motor is broken.

Procedure: please change the motor

E, Reason: the servo card is broken

Procedure: change the servo card

F, Reason: PCI card is broken

Procedure: change the PCI card.

Trouble: the equipment doesn’t print

1. The print head will not purge and the equipment doesn’t print

A, Reason There doesn’t install the PCI card.

Procedure: Please reinstall the PCI card.

B, Reason: optical fiber wire AB connects opposite

Procedure: please change the AB connect and reconnect.

C Reason: there is not the power supply for the color distribution board .

Procedure: check the 12v and 24v power supply .

D, Reason: there is something wrong with the color distribution board

Procedure: Please change the color distribution board

Trouble: The print head purge and the equipment can’t print

A, Reason: 1) there is something wrong with the raster

2) The AB direction of the raster is opposite

3) There is no supply for the raster power supply

4) The raster can’t read the data.

Procedure: Please check then make the different procedure accordingly.

There is not the test for the X speed/step size

Please test and reset.

Single color or several colors doesn’t print

B. Reason: 1) There is something wrong with the color distribution board

2) There is something wrong with the print head

3) There is something wrong with the print head communication cable .

Please change the color distribution board or print head or print head communication cable separately
to try.

3. The printing excursion is to one direction always

Reason: the motor is loose

Procedure: check and tighten the motor.

The carriage doesn’t print correctly in one direction but prints properly in the other direction

Reason: the raster sensor reading is lost

Procedure: Please check the raster sensor and the raster

4. The data is disorganized during printing

Reason: the printing is over-frequency

Procedure: Please decrease the printing speed.

The printing misaligns

Reason: the carriage belt is too loose or worn

Procedure: tighten the belt or replace with a new belt.

Reason: the belt for the speed reducer box is too lose or worn .

Procedure: check the belt or change a new belt.

Reason: The setting parameter of the software is not correct.

Procedure: reset the parameter of the software

Printer prints with mosaic

Reason: power supply cable is defected

Reason: the data cable is defected

Reason: the carriage shakes during printing. Please check the carriage bearings or rail.

Reason: the image resolution is too low.

The general power supply can’t be turned on

Please check: if the fuse pipe of the power supply plug is broken

Please check: if the power distribution board is working properly or not; if the green indicator is
shining or not; if the 5v power module is working or not.

Please check: If the panel is working properly or not

Ink supply can’t stop. The ink is out from the sub tank, but the pump is still supplying the ink.

Reason: Floater cable is connected with the ink tank ,but the color is not matching .

Reason: there is something wrong with the ink tank, please replace the ink tank.

Reason: there is something wrong with the floater cable, please replace the floater cable

Reason: there is something wrong with the ink supply board, please replace the ink supply board.

Trouble: The print head is blocked

Reason: make sure temperature: 20℃ -28℃, the humidity: 40% -- 70%

Reason: The print head voltage is too low: the requested power supply is 34V-35V

Reason: Something wrong with the filter, please replace a new filter.

Reason: The ink quality is not good; please change the better quality ink.

The ink position is not correct; adjust the position of the sub ink tank.

The print head aging is serious, please replace another print head.

The image of the printer is not clear and the image resolution is not good.

Reason: there is something wrong with the software parameter setting.

Procedure: adjust the parameter of the software: bi-directional calibration and step calibration.

Reason: the distance between the print head and media is too higher

Procedure: lower the height of the print head.

Reason: the carriage shakes during printing

Procedure: Please adjust the carriage.

Reason: the servo parameter is not accurate.

Procedure: the print head position is not correct, left and right, up and down.

There appears the white banding or black banding.

Reason: print head blocked up (please ref to the clause 6 for solving)

Procedure: the print head position is not correct, please adjust the print head position (front and back
position)

The white banding is appearing at the pass connection during the media transportation.

Reason: the step value of the step motor is too big, reducing the step value in the software.

The black banding is appearing at the pass connection during the media transportation .

Reason: the step value of the step motor is too long, raise the step value in the software.

Ink pump doesn’t supply the ink

Reason: The ink pump is broken

Procedure: Please replace the ink pump

Reason: the ink supply board is broken

Procedure: Please replace the ink supply board

Reason: the power of the ink supply is broken

Procedure: replace the power of the ink supply.

Reason: the floater cable is broken

Procedure: replace the floater cable.

Reason: the ink tank is broken

Procedure: replace the new ink tank

The print heads doesn’t jet ink

Please check if the color board is correct or not.

Reason: The print head chip is broken

Procedure: please change the print head chip .

The software installation is not correct and please reset the parameter ref to the manual

The print head or print head chip is broken and all the print head are not out of the ink ,please try all
the print head and print head chip one by one for elimination.

When send order from the RIP software, the Printing software doesn’t response.

Please restart the computer and the printer after the software installation .

The PCI card is not installed properly.

Please check if the printing interface is correct or not.

It is not stepping forward

Please check if the stepping driver has 36V or not,

Please check if the pulse signal is connected properly

The carriage crash the limit switch

Restart the computer and printer.

After you press down the emergency switch, the software is still working, if you take up the
emergency switch it will crash the limit switch.

If the computer hanged or restarted during printing, it is possible that the software will be out of
control. In this condition we suggest you turn off the printer and move the carriage to the middle of the
rail, and then restart the computer, move the carriage left and right, when it’s proved normal you can
continue the printing.

Print heads don’t jet ink or one of the head isn’t jetting correctly.

Check if the small head boards are loosed or not, the pins on the board are damaged or not; the PCI
connection is proper or not; sucks the print heads manually.

The problems caused by defective color board

All the heads of one color keep jetting ink or never jet ink.

A single head doesn’t jet ink. (the small head board can cause same problem also)

9 Konica Minolta Print Head Introduction


9.1. How to protect the print head

KM512 IJ print head is precision instrument r,You must protect it well,before you open the
packaging, please read the following notice:

notice

A layer humectant on the surface of nozzle,even though lightly touch can cause it come off.
Please defend static when you touch the print head in order to protect the head. We suggest you
wear the defend static watch.
Forbid any ink jump on the electrical circle board.
Please make sure you must install the small print head well and right,or else the signal can not be
transfered.

*open the print head packaging

(1) open the packaging,take out the print head plastic bag.
(2) hold the bottom of the plastic bag, take out the print head from the placket.
(3) tear the label,and keep it well

Remove the cover, and plastic bag.

(4) remove the cover.

In order to prevent the print head from drying. There is some liquid like ink filled in the channel
of the head.
There is a cover on the print head, to prevent the head from drying.
As the following image 5.1,hold the middle of the cover.
As the image 5.2 operation, press the cover and make it loose.

notice, we have two kinds of liquid ink for filling. Different liquid like ink for different cover.
Forbid any filled liquid fall on the cover, in order to avoid cankering.

Black latex cover for liquid like solvent ink

Green latex cover for liquid like oil ink

(5) Remove the tube

Remove the tube, which connect with the ink port, in order to prevent the liquid like ink flowing.

if the ink has been supplied to the print head, when you reconnect the ink tube to the ink port of
print head. You must make sure that the rudimental liquid like ink can not fall to the ink tube, in order
to avoid cankering.

9.2. Print Head Description.

9.3. The ink inside movement direction

As the following image, The ink inside movement direction. Enter port and exit. The enter port and the
exit suitable for "R" and "L" electrical board,

ink supply and discharge ink. The filter divide the ink bursa to two parts. The front filter and the back
filter. At first time can push out the air in the ink channel. It can also clean up the ink exist in the ink
bursa. Some unstable ink must be replacing in the scheduled time to clear out the coagulation, for
example white UV ink.
