1st topic:
Research Problem:

 Existing – Antico et. Al (2017) stated that eco bricks is the best option to reduce and
minimize waste disposal. Eco brick is a type wherein it is hand made by unskilled
personnel to mimic actual brick. The result we obtained a lightweight eco brick with fillers
compacted manually. Overall, the density, thermal shrinkage and elastic modulus are
dependent to the filler content or the volume rather than the weight of the eco brick itself.
Eco brick can be used as a potential sustainable alternative due to its density and elastic
modulus. But still the application of eco brick for construction is still debatable for
different reasons.
 Gap – All the related studies did not give any information about the plastics alone being
potentially used in construction and there is only a small amount of related studies that
exists who tried to characterize the type of plastics being used in any extent.
 Social Value – With the help of this research, we can conclude if eco brick is a good
alternative for hollow block and also can reach the standards of durability of hollow
blocks as construction materials.
Working Title:
Perception of professional engineers on the viability of Eco bricks as a substitute for hollow
blocks
Central Question:

How do professional engineers perceive the viability of Eco bricks as a substitute for hollow
blocks?

Specific Questions:

1.What factors do engineers consider in using substitute materials for construction?

2. What are the perceptions of professional engineers on Eco bricks?

3. What are the concerns about the use of ecobricks over traditional hollow blocks?

Participants & Locus:
The participants of this study are professional civil engineers here in Malolos. For this research,
we would like to have an accurate answer since they are the ones who are expert in conducting
quality check on construction materials. The location of the study is in Malolos, Bulacan.

2ndtopic:
Research Problem:

 Existing – Kronsberg (2017) said that male nurses were underrepresented in nursing
constituting approximately 9.6% of the total workforce. Out of the participants, 78% had
experienced discrimination during both nursing education and entry into practice.
Discrimination prevented men from participating in certain areas of nursing practice (e.g.
labor and delivery) which greatly restricts their capacity to function as nurses. Another
study by Kübler et al. (2017) said that employers may prefer hiring the dominant gender
because they expect this to be helpful to the work atmosphere. While, a study by Asante
(2017) suggested that patients would prefer nurses of the same sex because they felt
more comfortable especially when it came to intimate tasks (taking a bath, examination).
 Gap –The study had given the participants’ experience of nursing education and entry
into practice. The studies also showed that patients and employers had a gender
preference. However, the articles did not mention how discrimination would affect their
performance in the workplace or how they felt whenever they were being discriminated.
 Social Value –With the help of this research, we can identify how gender puts prejudice
into a workplace and mitigate discrimination toward male nurses, which will make
nursing a more attractive profession for men, and enhance their recruitment and
retention.

Working Title:
Experiences of male nurses on their female dominated profession
Central Question:

What are the experiences of male nurses on their female dominated profession?

Specific Questions:

1. How do they perceive discrimination in their workplace?

2. What are the experiences of male nurses?

3. What do male nurses feel whenever they are being discriminated in their workplace?

Participants & Locus:

Page | 2
The participants of this study are male nurses whom had at least 1 year of work experience. For
this research, we want to know how evident the presence of discrimination in their workplace.
The research will be conducted in Malolos, Bulacan.

3rd topic:
Research Problem: ob-gyne

 Existing – Wanderley and Sobral (2017) stated that male students perceive the choice of
specialization in Ob-gyne to be less attractive since they felt excluded from female
dominated clinical groups. Mahmood et al. (2017) have supported this claim by
statingthat female professionals have adventages over male professionals because
patients tend to interact more freely and would feel comfortable tackling about their
personal matters with someone who is of the same gender.
 Gap – The studies only showed male professionals’ perception on their
specialization. However, the studies did not mention how patients perceive males as an
ob-gyn.
 Social Value – Through this research, patients would be more accepting to the idea of
having male gynecologists eradiate discrimination felt in the workplace which can lead to
a profession that will no longer be considered as female dominated.
Working Title: Perception of Filipina mothers about males being their ob-gyne

Central Question:

How do Filipina mothers perceive males as an ob-gyn

Specific Questions:

1. What factors (criteria) do patients consider when choosing an ob-gyne?

2. What are the possible impacts of having male ob-gynes?

3. How does their perception affect the image of male ob-gynes?

Participants & Locus:

The participants for this study are mothers in Malolos, Bulacan. For this research, we would like
to know how Filipina mothers perceive males as their ob-gyne.
