GTL Limited (GTL), a network services company, provides services to the network life-cycle
requirements of telecom service providers and technology providers (OEMs) globally. It operates in
44 countries and has networks for more than 70 cellular operators. The company primarily operates
in India, the US, the UK, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Nigeria, UAE, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and
other countries.

The company's services include network planning and design services, network deployment services,
network operations and maintenance services, infrastructure management services, energy
management, and professional services.

GTL provides network planning and design services for its customer’s including radio frequency
(RF) and transmission engineering, fixed and core network engineering design in the wireless and
wireline domain – GSM, CDMA, Microwave Transmission, SDH, DWDM WiMAX and broadband
networks. It provides services such as CW test and model tuning, nominal cell planning, radio network
design and planning, transmission network design and planning, network optimization, network audit,
benchmarking and IBS planning and design services, virtual planning and optimization centre, and
others.

The company offers a suite of network deployment services that supports every phase of the
deployment process. Its services include active as well as passive infrastructure services for wireline
and wireless domain including GSM, CDMA, Microwave Transmission, Optical Transmission, WiMAX
and Broadband Networks. It also provides site ⁄ construction engineering, management services,
site implementation services, acceptances services, site documentation services, and validation
services.

GTL provides network operations and maintenance services including network monitoring and
operations, network field maintenance, technical support and process management, logistics and
vendor management, and transition management; and infrastructure management services, such
as program management, site expansion management, shareability assessment, documentation
management, disaster recovery management, and site acquisition management services.

History

HISTORY

GTL Limited’s (GTL) history dates back to 1985 when Manoj Tirodkar and Fritz D.Silva teamed up
to form a partnership firm called Global Telecom.

Global Tele-Systems was incorporated in 1987, in response to the movement towards the deregulation
of the Indian telecom sector that opened up opportunities for manufacturers and distributors of
telecom equipment.

In 1991, Global was converted into a public limited company. In the same year, Global set up branches
in Delhi, Calcutta and Chennai. In the following year, GTL went public.

GTL set up a group company, GTL Electronic Commerce Services Ltd (GECS), to provide value
added services and obtained license from DoT for data related services, in 1993.

Global entered into a joint venture with Broadsystem Multimedia of Australia to start a call
management company in India and shifted its focus from telesolutions to infosolutions and services
in 1997.

In 2001, the company merged with GECS. In the same year, the company acquired two software
companies, Fine Infotech and Thermax Systems & Software. Later in that year, Global changed its
name to GTL Limited.

GTL acquired a stake in Global Assets Holding in 2006. In the same year, the company acquired
Genesis Consultancy, a network management services provider in the telecommunication industry
in the UK. Also in 2006, the company opened a office in Thailand.

In 2007, GTL International, the wholly owned international subsidiary of GTL, acquired ADA Cellworks,
a network planning and optimization player in Asia Pacific. In the same year, GTL International
acquired 100% interest in Strategic Communication Services (SCS), a network deployment company
in North America. Also in 2007, GTL hived off Enterprise Networks and Managed Services business
to Orange Business Services, an arm of France Telecom. Later in that year, the company changed
its financial year end from 31 December to 31 March.

GTL entered into a strategic alliance with Ericsson UK, to offer managed network infrastructure
services to customers in UK and Ireland, in February 2008.

In March 2008, GTL entered into a strategic alliance with Vanu, to address the Shared Active
Infrastructure Services Market in India.

Vijay Vij was appointed as a Director of the company in July 2008.
