A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science VI

I. Objectives
At the end of the discussion, the pupils are expected to;

A. Identify the six types of simple machines.

B. Demonstrate the six types of simple machines and how to use it.
C. Appreciate the importance of the simple machines in our daily lives.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Simple Machines
Reference: CG page 98
Materials: visual aids, pictures, cartolina paper, envelope
Values: Critical Thinking, Cooperation, Creativity
III. Procedure

Teachers’s Activity Learner’s Activity

1. Daily Routine

Please stand and let us pray. ( Pupils will stand and pray.)

Good Afternoon Class! Good Afternoon, Ma’am!

Class! kindly pick up those pieces

of paper under your table and
chair. And arrange it properly.

You may now be seated. Thank you, Ma’am!

Class Monitor, is there any absent I’m happy to say that no one is absent for
for today? today.

2. Review
Before we proceed to our next
lesson, we will be having a warm
up. We will play “pass the box”
while listening to a song, whoever
holding the box will pick a
question and answer it. Is that
clear?

(Questions from the box)

1. What is Electrical Energy? Electrical energy is an energy from particles
moving through a wire.

2. Give me an example of an Computers, Televisions, Chargers etc.

object that produces electrical

energy.

3. What is Heat Energy? Heat energy is the energy released by hot

objects.

4. Give me an example of an Oven, Heat stove, Microwave , Heater etc.

object that produces heat energy.

Very Good!
Give yourselves an “ Angel Clap” 1 2 3 1 2 3 woot woot

A. Motivation

The teacher will call six students to solve

the puzzle on the board and try to identify
what picture is formed in the puzzle.

The examples given are called machines.

You may not think of these examples as

machines, right? But they are.

B. Lesson Proper

Any tools that helps you to do work faster

and using less effort are called machines.

There are two types of machine. The

simple machines and the compound
machines.

Simple machines are the basis of all the

mechanical devices we use today. And it
is composed of simple machines that we
will discuss for today.

Is that clear?

First kind of simple machine is an Inclined Yes, Ma’am!

Plane.
Class, kindly read the definition.

Inclined plane- flat surface that is higher on

one end. You can us this machine to move
Very Good! an object to a lower of higher place making
work of moving things easier.

3
(Demonstration)
( present a short video )

The next kind of simple machine is called

a Lever.

Lever- a board or bar that rests on a turning

point. It moves around a point to increase or
decrease effort.
Very Good!

(Demonstration)
(present a short video)

The next kind of simple machine is called

a Screw.

Screw- an inclined plane wrapped around a

shaft and used to hold things together using
Very Good! circular motion to raise or lower things

(Demonstration)
(present a short video)

The next kind of simple machine is called

a Pulley.

Pulley- made up of a wheel and rope. The

Very Good! rope fits on the groove of the wheel.
(Demonstration)
(present a short video)

The fifth kind of simple machine is called

a Wheel and Axle.

Wheel and axle- an axle is a rod that goes

through the wheel. This lets the wheel turn.
It is easier to move things from place to
Very Good! place.
(Demonstration)
(Present a short video)

And lastly…
The sixth kind of simple machine is called
wedge.

Wedge- used to push two objects apart. It

Very Good! has a sharp edge that can split things apart.

4
(Demonstration using a wedge.)
(present a short video)

Do you have any questions?

Did you understand our lesson for today?
Give yourselves an “Aling Dionisia clap”
Yes, Ma’am!
1 2 3 1 2 3 Very Good! Very Good!
C. Practice
Try this.

All you have to do is to identify if the

sentence is a Fact or a Bluff.

Is that clear?

1. A wheel and axle has a rod that

goes through the wheel and the rod
lets the wheel turn. Fact
2. A pulley has a sharp edge that can
split things apart.
Bluff
( A pulley have a wheel and a rope that fits
3. An inclined plane has a board that the groove of the wheel.)
rest on a turning point to move
around a point to increase or Bluff
decrease effort. (Lever has a board rest on a turning point to
move around a point to increase or decrease
4. Screw is an inclined plane effort.)
wrapped around a shaft and used to
hold things together using circular Fact
motion to raise or lower things.

5. A wedge have a wheel and a rope

that fits the groove on the wheel.
Bluff
( A wedge has a sharp edge that can split
6. An inclined has a flat surface that is things apart.)
higher on one end. You can us this
machine to move an object to a lower of Fact
higher place making work of moving
things easier.

Very Good!

D. Fixing the skills

We will have an activity.

You have three groups, right?

Each group will receive a cartolina with Yes, Ma’am!

an envelope containing pictures of
examples that each group will need to
classify according to the six simple
machines and write how it helps us to
work. I will give you 5 minutes to prepare.

5
I only need at least two representatives in
each group to present in front.

Is that clear?

Yes, Ma’am!
Before we start, what are the rules when
we are having an activity?

1. Cooperate in the activity silently.

2. Avoid loitering.
3. Avoid chatting.
4. Present the output on the designated time.

Kinds of How it helps

Simple Example us work
Machines
Lever Can opener To open a
can 1 2 3 1 2 3 BOOM! BOOM!
Inclined stairs To climb up
Plane easily
Wheel and motorcycle For The six different kinds of Simple Machines
axle transportation are pulley, wheel and axle, screw, inclined
plane, wedge and lever.
Screw drill To do a hole
and put
screws
Pulley flag pole To easily
raise the flag Simple Machines are great help to us. Do
Wedge chisel To carve not use them to harm others.
Verysculptures
Good!
I am so happy that you really understand
the lesson.
Give yourselves a ” Bocaue clap”
