Global Prosperity or Collapse?

Ever since I was young, I believed that the greater the power a person has, the

more he/she is looking for more. Being able to watch the news on a regular basis since

I was young introduced me to different social issues that we have in our country. The

most common one I guess is corruption. I observed (according to the news at least)

how our officials would use our public fund for their own good. They had the power to

do so, so they did it anyways. Now I wanted to talk how much this is similar to the

readings about the transnational capitalist class that are being formed by the different

elite groups and global corporations. Being at the top of the economy gives them the

power to do control the world economy, if they wish to.

As an engineering student who does not know that much in business and

economy, knowing that there are these kind of people at the top that are capable of

doing things like that is quite alarming. Since forming a transnational capitalist class

(TCC) can make them control the MNCs, TNCs and WTO, they are basically the most

powerful in the world, since they are in the top position. In this case, I agree with

forming these so called well-integrated global elite that can be a big help to the world

economy positively. Having such organization can help promote better trading between

the largest global corporations, thus maintaining a healthy global trade.

Since there is this kind of organization that has the most power in the world, the

hypothesis and speculation of the author might be true: that they can be planning to

control the MNCs and TNCs, and even the WTO. If it happens that they reached this

extent, they will be able to control the world economy which makes them control
everything around the globe. Having that said, having the power to do so makes them

prone to doing so. This is the idea that I disagree with, controlling the TNCs and MNCs,

even if they are ought to doing positive things for the global economy. Making them

control the TNCs and MNCs makes a threat to everyone about what they can do upon

controlling the global economy. It would be either a global prosperity on economy or a

global economic collapse.

In the end, I think that having no corporation nor organization control the global

economy is better for all of us. We should just be contented on the global economy that

we have, and not to pursue anymore upon upgrading it by the use of the global elites.

Whatever their intentions may be in forming such organization, they should not

continue it due to the global threat of their capability while being a private organization

controlling over the world.
