1.

Things you like most about your favorite teacher

Honestly, almost all the teachers I met were all my favorite ones. The things I like the most
about teachers are 2 things, first is their (1) patience because based on my experiences as a
student I really find it hard to manage a bunch of people. There was one time when our teacher
way back in high school, she was teaching in a very lousy manner and honestly we really judged
her immediately by not listening to her discussions, chatting with my classmates, not knowing
that she is suffering from illness that time. Instead of bursting her feelings by scolding us, we
really saw how she tried on explaining our topics on the best way she can. By that time, we
really felt sorry of disrespecting her without even recognizing her effort despite of her comfort.
Second is their characteristic of being (2) passionate in teaching. Yes, we may tell that not all
teachers have passion but I think its just because some of the teachers don’t know how to be
visible enough for their students. I really like it when the most hated subject is assigned to a
teacher who is so passionate, because I really made my weakness to be my strength instead, by
being too interested in that particular subject. For me, when these 2 characteristics combined, it
really means to me because it gives me confidence to strive more in school.

2. Things you do not like that teachers showed in classes

If we have likes, most probably we have dislikes obviously. The things I don’t like teachers
show in class is the thing about “favoritism” or a class having a “teacher’s pet”. I think most of
the students know the feeling of being the normal one but I really want it to be stopped because it
is just so unfair compared to the other students who don’t have any intention to do it. In my own
opinion no student deserves to feel in different way or being mistreated from others because of
this thing. But, the most important thing is we students shouldn’t generalize all the teachers just
because one teacher did it and we should give back what personalities we want from the
teachers, like the saying says “do unto others what you don’t want done unto you” by Confucius.

3. Parents perceptions on teaching and teachers

I think the perceptions of the parents on teaching and teachers is having a big responsibility
but having a big opportunity in return. I always tell my parents before that teaching is just being
a teacher of a class, like you’ll just write on the board, discuss, give quiz and compute grades,
that’s it. Until I realized that I have really under estimated the profession of a teacher before. I
realized all the things about teaching is because of my parents. Without them, maybe even
though I’ll see the hard work of the teachers I wont find out the essence of teaching. They always
remind me that though teachers should really be hard working by going to school everyday,
teachers make lesson plans at night instead of sleeping, preparing the lessons and checking
quizzes/exams on weekends and holidays, at the end of the day it will be all worth it. According
to my parent’s perceptions, it is all worth it not because of the salary that teachers made, but the
satisfaction of sharing your skill and knowledge to the students, the ability of being part of a
person’s growth in education journey not just about the academic lessons but most importantly is
the self growth of oneself.
