IQAC REPORT (2019 – 2020)

IQAC has organized a one day national seminar on 17th June 2019. The seminar was on “Higher
education: Teaching–Learning” had many stalwarts from the field of education who spoke on
different aspects of knowledge, teaching and quality.
Dr. Matthijs Cornellison, Director, Indian Psychology Institute, Puducherry delivered the
inaugural address. He stressed on the fact that teachers are important and the single major factor
for quality in education.
Session-1 was chaired by Dr. Sumathi Narayanan, President, Creative communication and
management center, Chennai. She spoke on “Applying NLP in Effective Teaching”. She
highlighted the major trends and issues in teaching and learning methods.
Session-2 was taken by Dr. Shameem, Deputy Director, SCERT, Chennai. She spoke on
“Multiple Intelligence and Diverse Learners”. She emphasized on diverse teaching strategies and
learning styles to be followed for diverse learners.
Valedictory Address was delivered by Dr. Kapila Shobini, Associate Professor, IASE, Saidapet,
Chennai. She talked about “Emotional Intelligence of Teachers: The Need of the day”. She
explained about Emotional Intelligence and how can one develop emotional competencies
consciously.
In Commemoration with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam 4 th Remembrance day, IQAC has organized
various interdepartmental competitions such as oratorical competition (English and Tamil) and
quiz and prizes were distributed for the prize winners.

The topics of the oratorical competitions were Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam – The Missile Man and
Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam and his Vision 2020.

The quiz competition was based on Life and Ideas of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. Students from
various departments actively participated in the competitions and won prizes.
IQAC along with Anna Institute of Management organized a one day seminar “WORK LIFE
HARMONY” on 17th August 2019. The theme of the seminar was on stress management and
improvisation of our life skills in a healthy way.
The keynote speaker of the inaugural function, Mr. V. Iraianbu IAS very subtly touched upon the
topic of “WORK LIFE HARMONY” and stressed the fact that as women we are good at striking
a balance between home and workplace. This motivated us to look forward to the following
sessions. The icebreaking session by Ms. Vanithi Vembar was filled with fun and was an
opportunity to know our colleagues better in an informal occasion.
Mr. Damodaran who presented the stress and anger management session took us through the
topic with ease and comfort. His speech was earnest and infused enthusiasm in us.
The session on life skills by Ms. Rukmani, was very logically presented with appropriate
examples to drive home the point that these skills are vital for us not only in our workplace but
also in our day-to-day life.
The final session by Mr. Venketeswaran on health and nutrition was filled with tips to lead a
healthy life. It was a highly interactive session.
