 INTRODUCTION

Construction industry is one of the major industries

contributing significantly to the growth and economy of the

country. One of the most important problems in the construction

industry is time and cost overruns. Construction delays play a key

role in any project success. The delay factors are very crucial

within a construction project and it is vital that all organisations

must have certain knowledge regarding this issue in order for the

project to be completed effectively and satisfactorily. This report

builds on the past studies by investigating the most important

delay factors identified by other researchers worldwide.

There are plenty of factors that can affect the project’s

finance and completion such as, financing by contractor during

construction, delays in contractor’s payment by owner, design

changes by owner or his agent during construction, partial

payments during construction and non-utilization of professional

construction management.
 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The research ‘FACTORS AFFECTING THE PROJECT’S FINANCE AND

COMPLETION TIME IN QUEZON CITY’S ENGINEERING

DEPARTMENT’ explains the possible factors that can make a

change in finishing a project.

The research is carried out to answer the following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents according

to:

1.1 Gender

1.2 Age

1.3 Department

2. What are the factors affecting the project’s finance and time of
completion:

2.1 Government budget

2.2 Holidays

3. How do these factors affect the project’s finance and and time
of completion?
 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will be beneficial to engineers and contractors

who would want to finish a project in the future. This can help
them manage the product cost with their preferred project.

FOR THE ENGINEERS. This study will help them to be aware of

the possible cost to avoid overspending for materials past their
budget and as well as the time that will be needed to complete
the project. This can as well benefit them because they will be
aware of the time span of the project that they are finishing and
that they will know when to accept another one.

FOR THE CONTRACTORS. This study will will help them by; cost
control on a project, the construction plan and the associated
cash flow estimates can provide the baseline reference for
subsequent project monitoring and control. For schedules,
progress on individual activities and the achievement of milestone
completions can be compared with the project schedule to
monitor the progress of activities. 

FOR THE FUTURE RESEARCHERS. This study will be able to

help future researchers who will have the same relation on this

topic will able to use this as their reference. They can also gather

information by understanding this research.

The data gathering of this research will be conducted inside

the office of Quezon City Engineering Department. The

respondents are composed of six (6) employees from the

company. One of them is the head of the floor of that building

while the other five (5) of them are regular employees.
