FAMILY STRUCTURE AND CHARACTERISTICS

Our priority family is the Hermoso Family with 7 members in the family since
ate jessel just gave birth to a baby girl. Their family structure is a nuclear type of
family wherein the mother ate Jessel, the father kuya Albert, and the 5 children are
living together in one house. They are currently residing at Purok 1, Sitio Pangdan,
Brgy. Cambanay, Danao City. Before they met, both were already residing in
Brgy. Cambanay but in different sitio. Kuya Albert is from the said sitio while ate
Jessel is from the sitio where there Barangay Hall is located.

They often see each other in Brgy. Hall specially when there is gatherings,they
got married and established a family of their own. It has been 8 years since the
father, kuya Albert got his job as Masonry. Ate Jessel has nothing to worry when it
comes to financial aspect since her husband is a good provider and a hardworking
man. They have a matriarchal type of family since ate Jessel is the one who make
decision and the one who is responsible when it comes in budgeting. Ate Jessel is
assigned to take care of the children.

B. SOCIO-ECONOMIC OR CULTURAL FACTORS

Kuya Albert is the one who provides the needs of the family, Ate jessel only
stays at home with her children. Kuya albert receives a pay of 12000 per month.
The common food they buy for meals are fish, vegetables and eggs.

Ate Jessel is the one who makes a decisions of how the money will be spent
as she is entrusted by her husband and she is able to manage the money very well.
She is a Roman Catholic and seldom attends a mass since she is busy in taking care
of her 5 children especially now that a new family member is added yet she never
failed to attend barangay meetings and she is actively engaged with Community
Activities.
C.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

After ate Jessel got married she lived with her husband's parents for 12 years.
After that, they were able to establish their own house near the place where the
house of her mother in law is located. Ate Jessels’ house looks new but it is still
ongoing with a lot of wood scattered in the backyard.

Before entering the house there is a dangerous stairs which is prone to accidents
because of the absence of railings and the stairs itself is a standard size for an adult
which is not safe for children. There is also a small balcony with an area of
approximately 5mx3m wide with a railings but it is quite dangerous since their
house is elevated from the ground filled with big rocks.

On the other side of the house is where their garbage is located and where they
burn their trashes since their house is away from the road by which the trash
collector could not afford to reach in their location that is why instead of waiting
for the garbage to be picked up by, they just choose to burn it with an
approximately 2m away from their house. There is a presence of insects since trees
are around their place. In the backyard, wood and unnecessary equipment is
located near where ate Jessel do her daily routine of washing clothes which seems
to be slippery, the walls near the washing place has piles of an old woods with
rusty nails, there are also cob webs and sharp objects which is prone to accident.

The house is about 15mx10m wide, a part of which has an approximate 6mx5m
for the living and dining room, also they have 3 rooms. Ate Jessel sleeps with her
husband and her newborn baby while the other 4 children accommodates the 2
rooms left. She sleeps early and wakes up around 5am-6am in the morning to
prepare for their food. Since their house is not completely built, they don't have
their own toilet. They only use their mother in law's toilet which is about 9 meters
away from their house. They don't have a proper drainage but they have an
electricity and an own water source. In terms of communication, they have gadgets
but the signal is not that good. They have their own motorcycle as a means of
transportation. Ate Jessel also have her own plans in terms of emergency and keeps
herself updated with the latest news.

D.HEALTH ASSESSMENT OF EACH MEMBER

When we met ate Jessel she was an averaged-size woman. Ate Jessel looks
weary as she had undergone a cesarean delivery. She appears restless with an eye
bags and she frequently yawns. The children's size were normal for their age with
brown complexion and she is about 5’2 in height, her hair is messy and nails uncut.
She verbalized that it is not easy to do some household chores especially now that
she just gave birth via cesarean delivery and states that she feel very tired and
weak. She also added that she don't even have time for herself and has difficulty in
dressing the wound since no one can assist her. Ate Jessel is already 1 month
postpartum and she doesn't have problems with ambulation but pain is still present
at the incision site. The pain is scaled by ate jessel as 4 out of 10. Ate Jessel's vital
signs were stable as we assess her and a tranverse incision is evident.

With the loaded household chores, her body aches sometimes and uses
efficascent oil. She also verbalized that she don't have enough rest because the
baby's cry wakes her up at night. She has to take care of her 5 children especially
her newborn baby who needs more attention.

E.VALUED PLACED ON PREVENTION OF DISEASE

 Ate Jessel said that as far as she could remember all her children had
undergone complete immunization excluding the newborn baby. They are actually
dependent to quack doctors and "hilot" rather than going to a health center even if
there is a chronic occurrence of illness such as coughs, colds and fever. According
to ate Jessel, she always goes to the quack doctor before going to the hospital for
they believe that there are certain illness that cannot be treated by medical doctors
and she truly believes in herbal medication.
