1. Build the tallest possible stable* building with two sheets of paper, using the
attached instructions. You can fold it, rip it, and bend it. But you can NOT use
any other materials. The paper is irreplaceable.
2. Build a paper airplane that can fly using only one piece of paper
**
Stable means that the building should stand still indefinitely, as long as it is not touched and/or moved.
THE “STRONG” TEAM – Design Criteria for Tall Building
Use ONLY TWO pieces of 8 ½ x 11 papers for the building and two other
sheets, just as support (see below)
Build a multi-story building as shown below. Come up with a way to
connect the papers to each other without tape or glue (e.g.
Folding/puncturing, etc.)
The team leader to design the team (roles & responsibilities), based on a
quick initial interview
The designer to calculate all Hi & Ri parameters to maximize the height of
the building
The builder to manufacture per design documents, AFTER design
completion
The inspector to perform quality control AFTER manufacturing and return
to designer or builder, if flawed (depending on the root cause)

THE “AGILE” TEAM – Design Criteria for the Building
Use ONLY TWO pieces of 8 ½ x 11 papers for the building and two other
sheets, just as support (see below)
Build a multi-story building similar to what is shown below. Come up with a
way to connect the papers to each other without tape or glue (e.g.
Folding/puncturing, etc.)
1. Build the tallest possible stable* multi-story building using two sheets of paper,
using your imagination. You can fold it, rip it, and bend it. But you can NOT
use any other materials. The paper is irreplaceable.
2. Build a paper airplane that can fly using only one piece of paper
Guidelines:
You have 15 min. to complete the project. BOTH PROJECTS MUST FINISH
WITHIN 15 MIN OR ALL MEMBERS WILL LOSE ALL 10 POINTS!
Come up with your own team design (leadership and work distribution)
The team will be evaluated based on the overall performance on both
exercises, observed by the instruction team’s observation.
You will submit your work after 15 min., whether or not you manage to
complete both projects.

THE “COOL” Team – 5 members (Grading: 30 points, 50% team, 50% individual)
Instructions: You need to build an airplane that can fly the longest possible path,
using ONE piece of paper (no tape). You can fold it, rip it, and bend it. But you
can NOT use any other materials. The paper is irreplaceable.
You have 15 min. to complete the project. One person must keep track of
time. No warning will be given. THE PROJECT MUST FINISH ON TIME OR
ALL MEMBERS WILL LOSE ALL 30 POINTS!
The team (15 points) will be evaluated based on the building height. The
highest building gets full score, the shortest gets 2 points, and the other
teams (who make it on time) will be prorated.
Everyone must make notes of teammates’ performance and provide it to
the instructor at the end of experiment. Individuals (15 points) will be
evaluated based on all peers’ assessment. Individuals’ assessment
truthfulness and fairness will impact your own grade too (If you give 25
points or more to all you WILL lose points.
THE PRODUCTIVE GROUP – 5 members (Grading: 50 points, 50% team, 50% individual)
PART 1 (25 points):
Instructions: Each person in your team is responsible to build their OWN tallest
building, using two sheets of paper each. You can fold it, rip it, and bend it. But
you can NOT use any other materials. The paper is irreplaceable.
3. You have 5 min. to discuss your ideas and make suggestions on how to
approach the project
4. You have 5 min. to complete the projects. Each person must also keep track of
time. No warning will be given. THE PROJECT MUST FINISH ON TIME OR ALL
MEMBERS WILL FACE CONSEQUENCES (SEE BELOW)
5. Your team will be evaluated based on the height of the tallest building in your
team. The highest building gets full score, the shortest gets 2 points, and the
other teams (who make it on time) will be prorated.
6. Individuals will be evaluated based on the height of their own projects
PART 2 (25 Point): You must work together to draw a masterpiece of your choice
in 5 minutes. All members must contribute at the same level (draw together) and
each member will evaluate the amount and effectiveness of other member’s
contribution.
THE “GREAT” TEAM – 7 members (Grading: 50 pints, 50% team, 50% individual)
1. Build the tallest possible stable* building using two sheets of paper, using your
imagination to design it, and then build and test it. You can fold it, rip it, and
bend it. But you can NOT use any other materials. The paper is irreplaceable.
2. Build a paper airplane that can fly using only one piece of paper

paper, using the following instructions. You can fold it, rip it, and bend it. But you
You have 10 min. to complete the project. You must keep track of time. No
PART 2 (10 points): Draw a masterpiece (a face, a bird, a flower, etc.) in 5 min.
