The researcher would like to thank CSEC, the school for accommodating this
project for us students as it has been a great means of expanding my knowledge,
and I am sure it has done so for the other students as well.

I thank also my teacher, parents and friends for their support and guidance
throughout the completion of this project.

Introduction
It is in the best interest of the society that this topic is the choice as a means of
finding out who is most affected by gender-based violence and how it will be possible to
offer assistance to those with gender-based tendencies.

This project will be created through information collected by a survey using


questionnaires. Expected findings are that negative thoughts causes’ gender-based
violence and that family will be affected gravely by this.

Data collected will be put into chart and graph to express full response and show
the varying of responses. Each response considers and statements will create to
accompany findings to better express how the responses will either affect or help this
research topic.

Further, after analyzing data collected a conclusion will be made and more data
or findings out of survey will be presented to support this topic in a means of better
expressing one’s own feelings of the research.

How does gender based violence affect the lives of surviving members in the

The researcher therefore seeks to do an investigation as it relates to the impact
of gender based violence on the members of the family and to seek ways to render
assistance for the family to be safe and be under protection.
Task 3 Method of Investigation
The method used in order to collect data is the questionnaire method.

The questionnaire as a tool has a number of advantages. These are:

• It requires little time to be completed.

• It can be done at the convenience of the person required to have it completed.

• It guarantees confidentiality since respondents are not required to attach their

names.
Task 4 Instrument Used To collect Data
Dear Respondents,
I am a grade eleven (11) student of Berbice High School. Essential
for the Social Studies School Based Assessment (SBA) it is required that a survey must
be carried out on the chosen topic Gender Based Violence. This questionnaire stands
as a method of obtaining information from you the respondents on Gender Based
violence in this area of Belvedere Corentyne, Berbice.
The usefulness of this survey depends on the thoughtful responses of those who are
asked to complete it. Your participation is very important and greatly appreciated. The
information obtained from you and other community members will help the researcher to
better understand the issue of Gender Based violence in the community.
This questionnaire is not long and can be completely answered within 15 minutes or
less. You are not required to include your name, but will be required to share a little
information about yourself that will aid in my successful completion of this research.

Task 5 Procedure for Data Collection
Before the researcher starts collecting data from a specific village, 20
questionnaires was made, each with 17 questions on it. But before the researcher
distributes the questionnaires a letter must be presented to the resident first, which
seeks their permission. After this the researcher distributes all the questionnaires in a
village name Belvedere.

victims of gender-based violence. It is clear that these advises are from the
questionnaire, which states that most persons advised the victims to attend rehab,
whereby least number of persons advised them to speak up and they gave other
advices.
