a. Dependent Variable: stu_att_bba

Requirement 1

The sample size for the survey was = df (total) +1

= 29+1

= 30

Requirement 2

Independent variable

Here k = 9

So, there are 9 independent variables.

Requirement 3

Regression Equation (Model Specification)

^
6
Y = a+b1x1+b2x2+b3x3+b4x4+b5x5+b6x6+b7x7+b8x8+b9x9
= 4.732 - 0.457 (career opportunity) +0.247 (recognized degree) + 0.054 (challenging) + 0.580
(development of communication skill) + 0.032 (scope of creativity) - 0.205 (operate own
business) - 0.447(IT knowledge) - 0.105 (scope of earning more) - 0.026 (higher education in
abroad)

Interpretation of the regression equation:

BBA students’ attitude towards BBA degree is negatively correlated with career opportunity.
That means the variable career opportunity is the insignificant predictor of BBA students’
attitude toward BBA degree.

BBA students’ attitude towards BBA degree is positively correlated with the variable recognized
degree. That means most recognition of BBA degree inspire most of the students to take this
degree.

BBA students’ attitude towards BBA degree is positively correlated with the variable
challenging. Challenging nature of this degree encourage the students to take BBA degree.

BBA students’ attitude towards BBA degree is positively correlated with the variable
development of communication skill. That means scope of developing communication skill also
motivate most of the students to get the BBA degree.

BBA students’ attitude towards BBA degree is positively correlated with the variable scope of
creativity. Students those take BBA degree are influenced by the feature that in BBA degree
there is huge scope of showing creativity.

BBA students’ attitude towards BBA degree is negatively correlated with the variable operate
own business. That means wish to operate own business is not significantly inspire students to
take the degree.

BBA students’ attitude towards BBA degree is negatively correlated with the variable IT
knowledge. Having enough IT knowledge of the BBA students is not the significant indicator to
know BBA students’ attitude toward BBA degree.

7
BBA students’ attitude towards BBA degree is negatively correlated with the variable higher
education in abroad. Intention to get higher education from abroad does not affect the attitude of
BBA students toward BBA degree.

Requirement 4

Standard Error of Estimate:

We know,

Standard error of estimate = √MSE

= √1.319

= 1.1487725

= 1.15

About 95% observations will be between ±2×1.15. That is, -2.30 to +2.30.

Requirement 5

Coefficient of multiple determination:

We know, coefficient of multiple determination (R2) = SSR/SS Total

So, here R2 = 26.820/53.200

= 0.50413534

= 0.5041

BBA students’ attitude toward BBA degree is 50.41% explained by the independent variables.

Requirement 6

8
Coefficient of Multiple Determination adjusted:

We know,

Coefficient of Multiple Determination adjusted or,

Adjusted R2 (Radj2) = 1- [MSE/ {SS Total/ (n-1)}]

Radj2 = 1- [1.319/ {53.200/ (30-1)}]

= 0.28

Requirement 7

Global Test of Hypothesis

H0: B1= B2=B3=B4=B5=B6=B7=B8=B9=0

H1: not all the B i’s are 0

Decision rule: Reject null hypothesis (H0) if the calculated value of ‘F’ is greater than its critical
value. Calculated value of ‘F’ is 2.39 (critical value of ‘F’ is derived from appendix – F
distribution, .05 significance level)

9
The calculated value is,

F= MSR/MSE

= 2.980/1.319

= 2.26

The computed value of ‘F’ is 2.26, which is in the acceptance region. The null hypothesis, that
all the multiple regression coefficient are 0 is therefore accepted.

Requirement 8

Evaluation of individual regression coefficient

For career opportunity-

H0: b1= 0

H1: b1≠0
10
For recognized degree-

H0: b2= 0

H1: b2≠ 0

For challenging-

H0: b3= 0

H1: b3≠ 0

For developing communication skill-

H0: b4= 0

H1: b4≠ 0

For scope of creativity-

H0: b5= 0

H1: b5≠ 0

For operating own business-

H0: b6= 0

H1: b6≠ 0

For IT knowledge-

H0: b7= 0

H1: b7≠ 0

For earning more-

H0: b8= 0

11
H1: b8≠ 0

For higher education in abroad-

H0: b9= 0

H1: b ≠ 0

The test statistics follows ‘T’ distribution with n-(k+1) degrees of freedom. In our case, Degrees
of Freedom (df) = 30- (9+1)

= 30-10

= 20

So, the critical value of ‘t’ is ±2.086 for a two tailed test with 20df [from appendix B.2,‘t’ test].
We assume level of significance = 0.05

Calculation of ‘t’ value for individual regression coefficient: t = (bi-0)/Sb

For career opportunity-

t = (-0.457-0)/0.188

= -2.429

12
For recognized degree-

t = (-0.246-0)/0.163

=1.506

For challenging nature-

t = (0.054-0)/0.283

= 0.190

13
For developing communication skill-

t = (0.580-0)/0.209

= 2.780

For scope of creativity-

t = (0.032-0)/0.188

= 0.170

14
For operating own business-

t = (0.205-0)/0.169

= -1.247

For IT knowledge-

t = (0.446-0)/0.161

= -2.770

15
For earning more-

t = (0.105-0)/0.163

= -0.647

For higher education in abroad-

t = (0.026-0)/0.588

= -0.044

16
The calculated‘t’ value is -2.429 for the variable career opportunity, 2.780 for the variable
develop communication skill and -2.770 for the variable IT knowledge. These three‘t’ values are
in the rejection region. Among these three, two’s’ values are left of -2.086 and one is right of
2.086 (see the figure).

Thus we can conclude that regression co-efficient for the variables career opportunity, develop
communication skill and IT knowledge are not ‘0’.

The computed ‘t’ value for the variables of recognized degree, challenging nature, scope of
creativity, operate own business, scope of earning more and higher education in abroad are
respectively 1.506, 0.190, 0.170, -1.247, -0.647, and -0.044 are in the exception region. So, we
can conclude that b2, b3, b5, b6, b8 & b9 could equal to 0. The independent variables recognized
degree, challenging nature, scope of creativity, operate own business, scope of earning more and
higher education in abroad are not significant predictor of BBA students attitude toward BBA
degree. So, these six variables are dropped from the analysis.

Requirement 9

Multicolinearity: Multicolinearity exists when independent variables are correlated. A VIF

(Variance Inflation Factor)>10 is considered unsatisfactory, indicating that independent variables
should be removed from the analysis.

17
In our case, VIF is not a problem, because from the SPSS output we observe VIF for career
opportunity is1.446, recognized degree is 1.190, challenging nature is 1.819, develop
communication skill is 1.810, scope of creativity is 1.973, operating own business is 1.094, IT
knowledge I 1.404, earning more is 1.506 and higher education in abroad is 1.886. So, here all
the output are less than 10.
