Methodology

In order to find out the strategies and measure the customer satisfaction level of private
scheduled bank of Brac Bank, Dhaka Bank, Islami Bank and Prime Bank I have used various
method to collect and present data. Mainly I used two types of data for this purpose-

1.   Primary data

2.   Secondary data

Primary data: This report has prepared through extensive use of primary data. It is collected
from group of people who are related with this bank. The following methods are used in
collecting primary data. These are

a)   Direct interviewing: I have collected data from the branch manager, executives, officers and
bank clients with the protested and well designed questionnaire.

b)   Personal communication: I have gathered data through personal communication with the
officers, executives, managers and clients of the bank branch.

c)   Observation method:  I went to every department of four Banks and observe their activities.

Secondary data: Secondary sources are those which are published or processed materials. I
have collected secondary data from the following sources-

1.   Various types of official documents

2.   Some published research report, books, journal and articles

3.   Personnel departments of four Banks

4.   File study, some books on Banking theory and practice

5.   Loans and advance manuals

      6. Different books of service marketing

5
Proposed System:
To solve existing system drawbacks, we develop a time efficient application named as
“Student intrenship application”. By using this application any type of user like student, staff
and administrator can login into the system and they can perform their desired action in this
application. The proposed system provides high security to the college information including
student and staff details.

 Student information may be secure

 Company can give a notification to registered students.

 Detail of internship duration and stipend.

 The company can provide the certificate Based on performance and skills.

 Company assessment the performance and skills of student.

Advantages of Proposed System

 It is easier for applying internship.

 Student can learn real time work.

 Company can also hire persons based on their performance and skills.

 Company provide certificate to Student like experienced one.

 Company assessment the performance and skills of student.

6
Feasibility Study:

Perform and evaluate feasibility studies like cost-benefit analysis, technical feasibility, time
feasibility and operational feasibility for the project. Project Scheduling should be made
using PERT charts.

Feasibility study is carried out to decide whether the proposed system is feasible for the
company. The feasibility study is to serve as a decision document it must answer three key
questions:
1. Is there a new and better way to do the job that will benefit the user?
2. What are the cost and the savings of the alternative(s)?
3. What is recommended?

7
TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY:

This study is carried out to check the technical feasibility, that is, the technical
requirements of the system. Any system developed must not have a high demand on the
available technical resources. This will lead to high demands on the available technical
resources. This will lead to high demands being placed on the client. The developed system
must have a modest requirement, as only minimal or null changes are required for
implementing this system.

Economical feasibility:

Economical Feasibility is the most frequently used method for evaluating the
effectiveness of a candidate system. More commonly known as Cost/ Benefit analysis, the
procedure is to determine the benefits and savings that are expected from the candidate
system and compare them with costs. If the benefits outweigh costs, then the decision is made
to design and implement the system.
Operational feasibility:
This study is carried out to check the Operational feasibility, that is, the Operational
requirements of the system. Any system developed must not have a high demand on the
available Operational resources. This will lead to high demands on the available Operational
resources. This will lead to high demands being placed on the client. The developed system
must have a modest requirement, as only minimal or null changes are required for
implementing this system

System Design:
In this phase the software’s overall structure and its nuances are defined. In terms of
client server technology the no of tiers needed for the package architecture, database design,
data structure design etc are defined in this phase. Analysis and Design are very crucial in
entire development cycle. Any glitch in this phase could be expensive to solve in the later
stage of software development. Hence following is the essential approach taken during
website designing:
DFD
 Database Designing
 Form Designing
 Pseudo code for methods

13
Analysis Model

This document play a vital role in the development of life cycle (SDLC) as it
describes the complete requirement of the system. It means for use by developers and will be
the basic during testing phase. Any changes made to the requirements in the future will have
to go through formal change approval process.

SPIRAL MODEL was defined by Barry Boehm in his 1988 article, “A spiral Model
of Software Development and Enhancement. This model was not the first model to discuss
iterative development, but it was the first model to explain why the iteration models.

As originally envisioned, the iterations were typically 6 months to 2 years long. Each
phase starts with a design goal and ends with a client reviewing the progress thus far.
Analysis and engineering efforts are applied at each phase of the project, with an eye toward
the end goal of the project.

The steps for Spiral Model can be generalized as follows:

 The new system requirements are defined in as much details as possible. This
usually involves interviewing a number of users representing all the external or
internal users and other aspects of the existing system.

 A preliminary design is created for the new system.

 A first prototype of the new system is constructed from the preliminary design.
This is usually a scaled-down system, and represents an approximation of the
characteristics of the final product.

 A second prototype is evolved by a fourfold procedure:

1. Evaluating the first prototype in terms of its strengths, weakness, and risks.

2. Defining the requirements of the second prototype.

3. Planning and designing the second prototype.

4. Constructing and testing the second prototype.

 At the customer option, the entire project can be aborted if the risk is deemed too
great. Risk factors might involved development cost overruns, operating-cost

14
miscalculation, or any other factor that could, in the customer’s judgment, result
in a less-than-satisfactory final product.

 The existing prototype is evaluated in the same manner as was the previous
prototype, and if necessary, another prototype is developed from it according to
the fourfold procedure outlined above.

 The preceding steps are iterated until the customer is satisfied that the refined
sprototype represents the final product desired.

 The final system is constructed, based on the refined prototype.

 The final system is thoroughly evaluated and tested. Routine maintenance is

carried on a continuing basis to prevent large scale failures and to minimize down
tim

a graphics concept in mind, associated through a browses interface. The GUI’S at the top
level have been categorized as

1. Administrative user interface

2. The operational or generic user interface

The administrative user interface concentrates on the consistent information that is

practically, part of the organizational activities and which needs proper authentication for the
data collection. The interfaces help the administrations with all the transactional states like
Data insertion, Data deletion and Date updation along with the extensive data search
capabilities.

The operational or generic user interface helps the users upon the system in
transactions through the existing data and required services. The operational user interface
also helps the ordinary users in managing their own information helps the ordinary users in
managing their own information in a customized manner as per the assisted

3.4 System Requirement Specifications

We have used Waterfall Model as Software Engineering life Cycle Process. It is the
simplest; oldest and most widely used process model for software development .This model
acquires its name from the fact that classic software life cycle is represented as a sequence of
descending steps.

18
Normalization

DATABASE NORMALIZATION:

Database normalization, or simply normalization, is the process of restructuring a

relational database in accordance with a series of so-called normal forms in order to reduce
data redundancy and improve data integrity. It was first proposed by Edgar F Codd as an
integral part of his relational model.

Normalization entails organizing the columns (attributes) and tables (relations) of a

database to ensure that their dependences are properly enforced by database integrity
constraints. It is accomplished by applying some formal rules either by a process of synthesis.

19
Purpose Of Normalization:
Normalization is carried out for the following four reasons:
 To structure the data so that there is no repetition of data, this helps in saving space.
 To permit simple retrieval of data in response to query and report requests.
 To simplify the maintenance of the data through updates, insertions and deletions.
 To reduce the need to restructure or recognize data when new application
requirements arise.
Steps of Normalization:
1. First Normal form, which decomposes all data groups into two-dimensional records
2. Second Normal form, which eliminates any relationships in which data elements do
not fully depend on the primary key of the record.
3. Third Normal form which eliminates any relationships that contains transitive
dependencies.

system testing

The completion of a system will be achieved only after it has been thoroughly tested.
Though this gives a feel the project is completed, there cannot be any project without going
through this stage. Hence in this stage it is decided whether the project can undergo the real
time environment execution without any break downs, therefore a package can be rejected
even at this stage.

Testing methods

Software testing methods are traditionally divided into black box testing and white box
testing. These two approaches are used to describe the point of view that a test engineer takes
when designing test cases.

1) Black box testing - Black box testing treats the software as a "black box,"
without any knowledge of internal implementation. Black box testing methods
include: equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, all-pairs testing, fuzz
testing, model-based testing, traceability matrix, exploratory testing and specification-
based testing.
2) White box testing - White box testing, by contrast to black box testing, is when
the tester has access to the internal data structures and algorithms (and the code that
implement these).White box testing methods can also be used to evaluate the
completeness of a test suite that was created with black box testing methods. This
allows the software team to examine parts of a system that are rarely tested and
ensures that the most important function points have been tested.
3) INTEGRATION TESTING is a level of software testing where individual units are
combined and tested as a group. The purpose of this level of testing is to expose
faults in the interaction between integrated units. Test drivers and test stubs are used
to assist in Integration Testing.
4) Validation testing is the process of ensuring if the tested and developed software
satisfies the client /user needs. The business requirement logic or scenarios have to be
tested in detail. All the critical functionalities of an application must be tested here.
5) In software engineering, a test case is a specification of the inputs, execution
conditions, testing procedure, and expected results that define a single test to be

30
executed to achieve a particular software testing  objective, such as to exercise a
particular program path or to verify compliance with a specific requirement. [1] Test
cases underlie testing that is methodical rather than haphazard. A battery of test cases
can be built to produce the desired coverage of the software being tested. Formally
defined test cases allow the same tests to be run repeatedly against successive
versions of the software, allowing for effective and consistent regression testing.

Conclusion

55
Overall, I would describe my internship as a positive and instructive experience. There
were some problems during the first week, as the post doc who was supposed to be my
supervisor, took up a position as an assistant professor at another institution only a few
weeks before my internship started. Therefore, it took some time to figure out a new
project and finally get started with it. Concerning my future professional career, I’m not
yet entirely sure what to make of this internship. I got another good insight into a research
group and the working life of scientists occupied in the field of research. It was inspiring
to see how some of the researchers were able to mostly independently carry out their
interests and plan and perform their own experiments. It was also interesting to
experience a research group where the professor himself is at least in part still doing
practical work in the lab. On the other hand, maybe because I was not assigned the project
I actually applied for, I found it hard at first, to motivate myself for this project. As many
projects, this one started with some very basic methods and procedures which are all but
exciting and it took me some time to realize that I would also perform some more
advanced and non-standard methods.
