TABLEAU - Features
Tableau has many features but the most important ones are categorised below :

of Tableau. It is used when there is related data in multiple data sources , which
we can analyse together in a single view using this feature.
• Real Time Analysis – It enables the user to quickly analyse & understand
dynamic data , especially when the Velocity is high. Tableau can help in
gathering useful insights from fast moving data with the help of interactive
dashboards, charts etc.

collaborating the data across user platforms.

Excel Vs Tableau
• Microsoft Excel & Tableau are Data Analysis tools but visualization of data in
Excel is quite poor.
• Excel works in Raw – Column Model whereas Tableau is Drag & Drop Mode that
formats the data into Graphics, Pictures etc.
• Excel performs in a moderate speed with no option of enhancement whereas in
Tableau we can optimize & enhance the progress of an operation.
• In-built security in Excel is very week but in Tableau extensive options are there
to secure the data.
• Real time data analysis is possible in Tableau.
• In Excel – to utilize the full version Visual Basic & Macro scripting knowledge is
required but in Tableau there are no such requirements.
• Excel is good with Small Data but for Big Data you need to look for Tableau.
• Excel gets integrated with 60 Odd applications whereas Tableau integrates with
250.

TABLEAU - Limitations
Tableau has many features but the most important ones are categorised below :

• High Cost with Inflexible Pricing – License cost for Tableau is quite costly for Small &
Medium organisation with Limited BI Requirement. Moreover , Sales Team is not
flexible enough to provide case to case feature wise licensing since most of the
companies are not using all the features diligently.
• Customer Service – After Sales – After Sales service of providing solution to the
client’s software related issue is very poor.
• IT & Security Challenges – Centralised level Data Security is missing in Tableau.
Moreover, to use Tableau in full fledged manner deployment of IT Team is must to
understand & work on the line.
• Poor BI Capability – Drag & Drop Option is there but it is not using the AI(Artificial
Intelligence) to represent the data on its own. User himself need to see which is the
best way of representation.
• High Employee Training Cost – Basic use of Software can be done by Non Technical
background people but since its features are vast. To use all those one need to have
proper training , IT Structure whichPRATIKPATAWARI@LIVE.COM
