ServiceNow Tips & Tricks

Useful for : IT/ Fulfiller Users

1. How to see improvement in performance if you find slowness to open up the form in the
system.

 Go to Settings Icon on the right side of the profile Name

 Select System Settings > Forms


 Change the Related list loading preference from "With the Form" to "After Form
Loads" - for little improved performance
"With the Form" to "On-Demand" - for excellent performance (records
would get loaded only upon click over there)

2. How to see the form "Neat and clean" rather than lengthy vertical layout?

 Turn on " Tabbed forms"


3. Frequent Traveler - If they want to see each and every records in different time zone other
than system time zone/local profile time zone for active session, how do they change?

 Go to Settings Icon on the right side of the profile Name


 Click on "General"
 Change the Time Zone value as per your choice. (This would be applicable only
for active session. Once you logged out, it would be reverted back as your User
Profile time zone automatically)

4. How to deal with Attachment efficiently?

 You can "Drag and Drop" multiple attachments from your local drive at one go
rather than browsing and uploading it under any of the record (Incident, Service
Request, Problem, Change etc.)

5. How to work across multiple records/forms across ServiceNow where needed?

 <SHIFT>-<Click> on a hyperlink to open in a new browser window


 <CTRL>-<Click> to open in a new browser tab

6. Spelling check of contents under Description/Long Text Fields : If red underlines aren't
enough to grab your attention, remember that you can always spell check long text fields. To do
so, click the "ABC Checkmark" icon to the right of the field name.
7. How to Generate Ad-Hoc Report from "List View"?

 When viewing a list of records, right-click on a column header to create an ad-hoc


Pie Chart or Bar Chart. Expand the report header to refine the report

8. If system defined views or dashboards are not sufficient for your need - What to do for
your day to day work?

 When viewing the list of records under Incidents/Problems/Changes/Tasks etc. -


Look in the left most column to see the personalization "Cog". Click it to
personalize it and modify columns based on your need and save it(selected
columns)

 Click on Filter Icon and build your own complex query with AND/OR and many
more logical operators

 Build your own query and "Run". If you want to see the condition builder every
time you load the list - use pin icon ( Pin/Unpin Filter Icon)

 If same query need to be used or referred every time for your day to day work ,
please save and name the filter as "Critical Tickets - 1st March Onwards"
 Saved Filters can be used any time based on your need later and reduce the effort
on day to day basis query

9. How to create Favorites/Bookmarks for easy customized view navigation?

 You can create bookmarks in various scenarios listed as below

Modules in the application navigator


Breadcrumbs
Links in lists (including lists displayed in flyouts)
Reports

 It requires just drag and drop to the Edge


 Bookmarks/Favorites can be customized with relevant Icons/Text. Click on Edit
Favorites

10. How to set preference to see no. of records/rows in each list view?
