SAVING IMAGES

Good digital workflow practices include folder organization.
Create the following folders on your desktop and hard drive:
RAW, EDITED, WEB

LIGHTROOM
RAW format photographs edited in LR will automatically save changes to your catalog
1. Save a RAW file as a PSD (photoshop) or TIFF:
§ You must be in the Library Module to export
§ Click on the Export button (next to Import, bottom left)
§ Under Export Location
Click Choose button to save to “Edited” folder
§ Under File Settings
Image Format: PSD, Color Space: Adobe RGB (1998), Bit Depth: 16
OR
Image Format: TIFF, Color Space: Adobe RGB (1998), Compression: none,
Bit Depth: 16
§ Under Image Sizing
Uncheck Resize to fit
§ Click Export

2. Save a RAW file as a JPG for Web:

§ You must be in the Library Module to export
§ Click on the Export button (next to Import, bottom left)
§ Under Export Location
Click Choose button to save to “Web” folder
§ Under File Setting
Image Format: JPG, Color Space: sRGB, Quality: 100, Limit File Size To: 500 k
§ Under Image Sizing
Check Resize to fit, W & H, Don’t Enlarge, W 1500 H 1500 Resolution 150 ppi
§ Click Export
PHOTOSHOP
RAW File:
1. Save a RAW file as a PSD or TIFF:
§ File from menu bar, select Save As
§ Export Location: choose “Edited” folder
§ File Format: save as a PSD (photoshop) or TIFF
§ Click “Save”

2. Save a RAW file as a JPG for Web:

§ Image from menu bar, select Image Size
§ Check Resample
§ Set measurement to Pixels
§ Make the longest side 1500 px
§ Make sure the new size doesn’t exceed 500 k
§ Click “Ok”
§ Edit from menu bar, select Covert to Profile,
Destination Space: sRGB IEC61966-2.1, Click “OK”
§ File from menu bar, Select Save As
§ Export Location: choose “Web” folder
§ File Format: JPG
§ Click “Save”
§ JPEG options: Quality: 12
§ Click “OK”
PHOTOSHOP
LAYERED File:
1. Save a layered file as a PSD or TIFF:
§ File from menu bar, select Save As
§ Export Location: choose “Edited” folder
§ File Format: save as a PSD or TIFF
§ Click “Save”
§ You may print directly from a layered file

2. Save a Layered file as a JPG for Web:

§ Layer from menu bar, select Flatten Image
§ Image from menu bar, select Image Size
§ Check Resample
§ Set measurement to Pixels
§ Make the longest side 1500 px
§ Make sure the new size doesn’t exceed 500 k
§ Click “Ok”
§ Edit from menu bar, select Convert to Profile,
Destination Space: sRGB IEC61966-2.1, Click “OK”
§ File from menu bar, Select Save As
§ Export Location: choose “Web” folder
§ File Format: JPG
§ Click “Save”
§ JPEG options: Quality: 12
§ Click “OK”
ILLUSTRATOR
AI File:
1. Save an Illustrator file as a JPG for Web:
§ File from menu bar, Select Export, Select Export As
§ Export Location: choose “Web” folder
§ Format: JPEG (jpg)
§ Check box: Use Artboards, Choose All or set a range
§ Click “Export”
§ Color Model: RGB
Quality: 10
Compression Method: Baseline (standard)
Resolution: Medium (150 ppi)
Anti-aliasing: Art Optimized if art or Type Optimized if type,
Check box: Embedded ICC profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
§ Click “OK”

INDESIGN
INDD File:
1. Save an InDesign file as a JPG for Web:
§ File from menu bar, Select Export
§ Export Location: choose “Web” folder
§ Click “Save”
§ Export: All, Pages
Quality: Medium
Format Method: Baseline
Resolution: 150 ppi
Color Space: RGB
Check box: Embedded ICC profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
Check box: Anti-alias
§ Click “Export”
