Stretching the

FOR CLALLAM COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS

The days are getting shorter and nighttime temperatures are dropping. Both are
clear signs that winter is not far away, and the growing season will soon be behind us.
But it doesn’t have to end for Clallam County gardeners quite yet.
With an eye on the weather and the judicious use of plant covers, local gardeners can
stretch the growing season by a month or more.
This additional time could allow warm weather crops, such as peppers and tomatoes, LORRIE HAMILTON
