Sentence Diagramming: Complex Sentences


When you diagram a complex sentence, you connect the two clauses with a dotted line. The dotted line is
usually drawn connecting the two verbs. The subordinating conjunction is written on the dotted line.

Example: Janice skated while her sister slept.
