CHAPTER 1

Company Profile

Pioneer Insurance was founded in May 1954 with a staff of five at the
Quisumbing Building, along Dasmarinas Street in Binondo, Manila. Among its first
officers are Johnny Cheng as Chairman; Lorenzo Chan Toh as President; and Yang
Pao Wang as General Manager. It began its business in non-life insurance. Ten
years later in 1964, it ventured into life insurance. Its evolution has included a fruitful
five-year joint venture with Allianz AG of Germany in the form of Pioneer Allianz.
Following the joint venture in 2003, an agreement was reached to move forward as
a 100 percent Filipino-owned company.

Today, Pioneer Life Inc. is a significant player in the industry, and it continues
to grow with a record number of Million Dollar Round Table qualifiers. In 2013,
Pioneer Life generated gross written premiums of close to P2.2 billion, supported by
equity of over P1.0 billion and assets of almost P7.5 billion.

Mission, Vision, and Goals

What I do has the power to change lives.

My words enable people to fund big dreams.

My handshake leads to the continuation of life and families made more secure.

I have strength of character, passion and focus.

I persevere and overcome challenges.

I am proud to be with Pioneer.

I am Pioneer and I change lives.

Goal: Pioneer aims to serve the Filipino people with excellence, integrity and
humanity, while remaining attuned to their changing needs. To reach out to more
and more Filipinos, from CEOs to jeepney drivers, from businesses in aviation to
organizations in need of microinsurance.
Values and Value System

> Humanity

We are in the business of helping people secure their lives and what matters most to
them. We provide services that enable our stakeholders to prepare for and face
some of life's most challenging moments. We do so with warmth, compassion, and a
sincere concern for the quality of life of every stakeholder.

> Excellence

We value excellence that goes beyond mere compliance. We believe in doing the
right things the right way. Because we care about what is important to our
stakeholders and caring is part of who we are, we will go out of our way to provide
superior products and services that communicate our concern and desire to delight
them.  We believe that mediocrity is a form of dishonesty; it is not being true to who
we are.

> Integrity

We recognize that each employee of Pioneer defines our organization by the way
he/she carries him/herself. Integrity is all about knowing who we are and taking pride
in what we stand for. It is about how we turn values into actions, how our actions
reflect who we are, and how we see ourselves through the things we do. We
strongly believe in this dual standard: to be strict with others but strictest with one's
self, especially when no one is looking.
