General Objective

At the end of the activity, the students will be able to choose the appropriate drug for fever,
pain (musculoskeletal pain) and inflammation in various condition.

Specific objectives:

The students will be able to :

1. Synthesis the pharmacological intervention for pain and inflammation.
2. Apply the pharmacological properties of analgesic, antipyretic and non steroid anti-
inflammatory drug .
3. Apply the pharmacological properties of steroid anti-inflammatory ( steroid)
4. Compare the pharmacological properties among analgesic, and anti-inflammatory drug.
5. Design the appropriate drug regimen for some diseases with pain and inflammation

Introduction

Pain and inflammation are two complaints that often make patients come to a doctor.
There are many drugs to relief pain and inflammation. The pain relievers include NSAIDs (Non
Steroid Anti Inflammatory Drug) and opioid drugs. The anti-inflammatory drugs include NSAIDs
and steroid drugs such as Prednisone.
The main topic in this laboratory activity is pharmacological properties of NSAID. NSAIDs
have different chemical structures, so that they have different efficacy and side effects.
NSAID in general have analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects. However,
some NSAIDs have higher anti-inflammatory effect, while some others have higher analgesic or
antipyretic effect.
Sequence:

I. The student are expected to learn :

“Blended learning Truwinist drug selection of analgesic and anti-inflammatory
drug” prior to laboratory activity.

II. Laboratory Activity session consist of :

 Mini lecture : Prescription
 Discussion of Truwinist drug selection of analgesic , antipyretic and anti
inflammation non steroid.
 Exercise of choosing Personal drugs and its regimen dose.
 Exercise of Identification of the part prescription.
