Example: Establish SAP SSO session using custom dll

The following example shows how to implement custom dll to establish SAP SSO (by using
sapcrypto.dll, which is part of SAP Cryptographic Library) session and use this dll in Enterprise Scan.

Note: Both communication partners, SAP server and .NET application should use the same crypto
libraries for the communication. In the below sample, need to use the same same crypto library as set
in snc/gssapi_lib (32 or 64 bit equivalent) on SAP server.

This example can be extended to implement other SAP Single Sign-On Technologies.

Custom Dll:
Prerequisite: Install 'SAP .NET Connector 3.0 for x86' on your machine. Select 'Install assemblies to
GAC' while installation
To create custom dll, in Visual studio you must perform the following steps:
• Create a class library project and provide the name as ESCSAPSignIn
• Rename the class file name as ESCSAPSignIn.cs
• Right click on the References in solution explorer and add reference to sapcrypto.dll (This dll
is part of SAP Crypto Library and can be available at C:\Program Files
(x86)\SAP\FrontEnd\SecureLogin\lib\sapcrypto.dll as part of SAP Secure Login Client)
• Copy the following c# example in the ESCSAPSignIn.cs file and adapt it to your needs

using System;

using SAP.Middleware.Connector; // your sap connector

namespace ESCSAPSignIn

public class ESCSAPSignIn

public static string SAPClient { get; set; }

public static string SAPLanguage { get; set; }

public static string SAPAppServerHost { get; set; }

public static string SAPSystemNumber { get; set; }

Additional information to ‘User and Administration Guide’ Section 12.1.2 Configuring SAP
indexing and archiving scenario

Modify point 2 of “To archive a document using Early Archiving” as below

2. Activate archiving from SAP. For more information, see Configuring archiving from the leading
application.

Additional information to ‘User and Administration Guide’ Chapter 26 Separating documents

by barcode and sorting into groups using regular expressions

The example has been updated.

b. Enter the three groups, the barcode type under Recognize barcodes and the
respective Regular expression:
• Group1: All barcodes beginning with 021 or 131. Regular expression:
021[0-9]*|131[0-9]*

• Group2: All barcodes beginning with 022 or 232. Regular expression:

022[0-9]*|232[0-9]*

• Group3: All barcodes that do not begin with 021, 131 and 022, 232.
Regular expression:
(?!021)(?!131)(?!022)(?!232)[0-9]*

Additional information to ‘User and Administration Guide’ Chapter 30 Working with regular
expressions

With patch ESC-1640-003 Enterprise Scan has switched to use C++ Standard Library std::regex with
regular expression grammar ECMAScript. Further details and specifications can be found e.g. in
Microsoft Developer Network MSDN.

The description and the example have been updated.

• ^ “Not” operator can only be used as bracket operator.

[^...] Bracket “not” operator

When the bracket expression begins with the character '^' the match succeeds if no elements
in the set match the current character in the barcode data.
Example: [^w] matches any single character, excluding “w”.
• (?= expression) A positive lookahead is indispensable if you want to match something
followed by something else. It does not consume characters in the string, but only asserts
whether a match is possible or not.

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

13
• (?! expression) A negative lookahead is indispensable if you want to match something not
followed by something else. It does not consume characters in the string, but only asserts
whether a match is possible or not.

Example 30-1: Using regular expressions for barcode recognition has been updated.

Scenario 1 The following barcode values should be accepted:

• LEA-0001-2345678

• LEA-0002-3456789

• LEA-1234

• LEA-3456

The following barcode values should be rejected:

• LEA-2345

Regular expression:
LEA-(?!2345)[0-9]{4,4}(-[0-9]*)?

Explanation
LEA-
The first four characters must be LEA-.
(?!2345)[0-9]{4,4}
The next 4 characters must not be 2345 and must be a repetition of 4 times 0-9.
-
Next character could be -.
[0-9]*
The next characters must be in the range 0-9 with a repetition from 0 to x.
(-[0-9]*)?
Matches LEA-(?!2345)[0-9]{4,4} and optional (-[0-9]*).
Scenario 2 The following barcode values should be accepted:
• LEA-0001-2345678

• LEA-0002-3456789

• LEA-1234

• LEA-3456

The following barcode values should be rejected:

• LEA-2345

• LEA-6789

Regular expression:

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

14
LEA-(?!2345)(?!6789)[0-9]{4,4}(-[0-9]*)?

Product Name Application Delivery

XenApp 7.15 Application installed on XenApp server 1

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

16
1) For ISIS scanner support, see section 4.3.

4.2 Hardware requirements

OpenText recommends the following minimum hardware specification for Enterprise Scan
workstations:
CPU: Pentium IV processor 1 GHz
RAM: 2 GB (4 GB for color scanning)
Screen: 1600 x 1200 resolution
HDD: 10 GB free disk space

Additional performance considerations

Color scanning:
For color documents OpenText recommends a scanning resolution of 150 dpi, and a minimum of 4
GB RAM and a fast CPU for color scanning with resolutions higher than 150 DPI.
Reference 44407

AHCI:
In case the workstation's hard disk drives are attached to a SATA controller, it is essential to operate it
in AHCI mode (Advanced Host Controller Interface) instead of the legacy ATA mode. Also, make sure
to use the latest device drivers from the controller's manufacturer. AHCI and NCQ considerably
improve the performance of Enterprise Scan. In particular, this is important when using more than one
logical processor (hyper threading, multiple cores, multiple CPUs).
Reference IMAG-5083

Imaging Enterprise Scan – WebInterface

Enterprise Scan and DPCS requires Content Server module Imaging Enterprise Scan – WebInterface
16.4.0 to support Content Server scenarios.

5.2 Upgrade notes

Before you upgrade, review these additional upgrade notes.

Automatic upgrades of Enterprise Scan are supported from version 6.0 or later. For more information,
see the Installation Guide.

Server based configuration management

Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 does not introduce a new container on Archive Center and it is compatible
with 16.0 container. Hence no migration is required for configurations that were uploaded to Archive
Center by 16.0 clients.

Configurations that were uploaded to Archive Center by 10.2 or earlier clients need to be migrated
using the “Enterprise Scan Configuration management” tool of version 16.4.0.

Upgrade for DPCS

Automatic upgrade from previous versions of DPLES and DPCS to DPCS 16.2.0 is not supported.
Instead, uninstall the older version and install the new version.

Upgrade for .NET Connector

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

25
Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 requires .NET Connector 3.0 to connect to SAP system and this needs to be
installed explicitly by the user. IxosProxy.dll that comes with Enterprise Scan 10.5 installation is no
longer available with Enterprise Scan 16.4.0. The scripts from older clients that are based on .NET
Connector 2.0 needs to be migrated. The scripting example “Indexing for the SAP system using SAP
Nco 3.0” is available in OTDN Indexing and Scripting Guide
(https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/cs.dll/open/EnterpriseScan_OTDN).

6 Performance considerations
In this chapter you can find some recommendations to enhance the performance during mass
scanning.

6.1 System configuration

RAM: 6 GB

CPU: Multi core

6.2 ISIS scanner configuration

When scanning B/W images:

1. Set compression for image.

2. Keep image resolution low (150 - 200 dpi) when scanning textual images.

3. Avoid using paper format as scanners maximum.

When scanning color images:

1. Set compression for image.

2. Keep image resolution low (150- 200 dpi) when scanning textual images.

3. Avoid using paper format as scanners maximum.

4. Use dual stream option (emulated by software or hardware) in case no imaging operation is
required during scanning or post scanning. You can use hardware dual stream in case of high
end scanner supporting multi streaming. The performance of hardware dual stream depends
on the scanners maximum capacity of sending multi streams and number of imaging
processors it has.

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

26
If the scanner hardware does not support dual streaming, use the “Emulated by software”
option. Using dual stream also improves post scanning operations like selection change,
document operations like separate, join, merge and so on.

5. Improve scanning speed by adjusting JPEG quality factor.

6. Use auto cropping options, for example de-skew, rotate, landscape to portrait, and so on,
available in the scanner driver instead of using processing plug-ins.

7. Set paper orientation to landscape mode instead of portrait when scanning from feeder.

6.3 Processing configuration

Avoid manipulating the scanned images in processing sub profile. Instead, configure the scanner, for
example, to de-skew, crop, rotate, de-speckle and so on.

Using scripting extension plug-in with complex scripts can degrade the scanning speed.

6.4 GUI configuration

1. Set scanning mode to “page” or “background scanning” (instead of thumbnails).

2. Increase the update interval during background scanning.

3. Configure thumbnail view to show selected document.

4. Avoid Property view during background scanning.

5. Minimize the number of views that are activated during background scanning.

6. Disable undo function.

7. Decrease the size of thumbnail icons inside thumbnail configuration.

7 Known issues
The following known issues exist in this release.

Issue Name Issue Description

SCAN-1232 Upgrade restrictions if same installation directory is used

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

27
Upgrade from 10.0.0 or 10.2.0 to 16.4.0 into the same installation directory is
not supported. The upgrade fails with an error stating that installer has
insufficient privileges.
To upgrade from 10.0.0 either first uninstall the old version or select a different
directory for installation.
Upgrading from 10.2.0 works as expected if patch ESC-1020-003 or later is
installed before running the 16.4.0 installation.

IMAG-3004 Scanning fax attachments from Lotus Notes

Scanning fax attachments from Lotus Notes is only possible from “folders”.

Lotus Notes connector

Before you start the configuration of Enterprise Scan (menu Profile <
Configure), the authentication with Lotus Notes client has to be finished,
otherwise the application freezes.
To prevent the Lotus Notes login dialog appearing every time Enterprise Scan
starts, enter the password of the Lotus Notes connector configuration.

IMAG-4320 Scanning fax attachments from Microsoft Outlook

Scanning fax attachments from Microsoft Outlook is only possible from the
faxlink folders located directly at the root of the mailbox, which is at the same
level as calendar, contacts, deleted items, tasks are there.
There is no need to manually create the faxlink folders as they get created by
Enterprise Scan when it tries to fetch new fax messages.

IMAG-4763 Scanning fax attachments from Microsoft Outlook 2007 with “Cache
Mode” on
The fax mailbox might be shared by multiple users and the Enterprise Scan
user might modify the personal MAPI profile to show the shared mailbox for
incoming fax as well. The user might move fax messages to the shared
mailbox. If Enterprise Scan is configured to use the dedicated MAPI profile to
fetch fax messages, scanning fails. To scan properly, the dedicated fax profile
has to be configured not to use “cached mode”.

IMAG-3462 Silent installation with User Account Control (UAC) activated

When invoking a silent installation via “msiexec /qn” with UAC activated, the
parameter /qn will prevent the UAC confirmation dialog from popping up. The

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

28
installation will fail silently. Additional details are available in the installation log
file. With UAC switched on, run the installation with parameter /qb.

IMAG-3325 Drag and drop with User Account Control (UAC) activated

The functionality for drag and drop from the local file system to the Enterprise
Scan application will not be available when Enterprise Scan is running with
elevated privileges. The functionality is only available when running with
restricted privileges.

IMAG-3083 Lotus Notes and Windows 7/8

In certain test environments, Lotus Notes may be configured to use a local

database or file server instead of a Domino Server. This is not supported on
Windows 7/8. For more information, see additional information available at IBM.

Document Pipeline for Content Server 16.0.0 with User Account Control
(UAC) activated

For DPCS 16.0.0 installation users are advised not to use the “Change” option
for “Modification” when UAC is activated. Instead the user has to modify the
DPCS through command prompt opened with the “Run as administrator”
option.

IMAG-3477 Perl packages and script automation

When invoking Enterprise Scan using script automation, single-threaded perl

packages are not supported. Instead, mutli-threaded perl packages must be
used.

IMAG-919 Rollback of compound document version produces inconsistent

document
If updating attributes fails for an existing compound document, the rollback
process does not remove the newly created release and leaves the current
compound document in an inconsistent state that means without its child
components.

To revert back to the previous state, from the Content Server Web interface,
manually copy the individual child components from the newly created release
back to the main compound document and then delete the inconsistent release.

CTRL+SHIFT+C is not supported as a customized keyboard shortcut

The combination CTRL+SHIFT+C cannot be used as a customized keyboard

shortcut. This shortcut is by default assigned to the “Close” operation in the

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

29
context menu in the title bar of the views. Therefore, using CTRL+SHIFT+C as
a customized keyboard shortcut may lead to unexpected results and is not
supported.

Pre-indexing with a non-UTF8 Content Server and Non-Western

languages
Text might not be displayed correctly in the pre-indexing mask if you use
Enterprise Scan together with a non-UTF8 Content Server in a non-western
language, for example Japanese or Arabic.

User-dependent document stack in Windows

A document stack is specific to a user. Thus there is no possibility to share a

document stack between users. Note that the early and late archiving scenarios
must be performed under one user account.

Imprinter

It is possible to enter your own text to be imprinted on the page. The length of
this text is cut by the ISIS driver without any prior notification.

SCAN-1712 Delete scanned files

You will lose original data if the original image is in the wrong format or if the
processing sub-profile indicates an error because it cannot handle the current
color depth of the scanned page. In these cases a message is displayed and
the original files on the disk are then deleted without warning irrespective from
the success or failure of scanning.

Microsoft Outlook and Enterprise Scan

Microsoft Outlook must be set as the default email client.

SCAN-2860 UI-less operation on 64-bit environments

The interface "IXOS.ScanProcessingScript" (as documented on OTDN) is
available as 32-bit interface, only.

Therefore on 64-bit environments it's required to explicitly call the 32-bit

interface:

1) For any custom executable make sure to compile it as "x86" (instead of "x64"
or "AnyCPU").
2) For any VBScript file call the x86 variant of the script host:

a) For scripted execution (e.g. Windows scheduled task):

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

30
"%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\cscript.exe" "E:\Schedule\MyScanJob1.vbs"

b) For manual execution by end users:

Either create a shortcut with the target set as:

"%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\wscript.exe" "MyScanJob2.vbs"

Or create a batch file with the following contents:

@ECHO OFF
SETLOCAL
set "MyScanScriptToRun=MyScanJob3.vbs"
set "MyScriptHost=%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\wscript.exe"
start /b "%MyScriptHost%" "%~dp0%MyScanScriptToRun%"

Limitations with dual stream

1. If any imaging operation is done inside processing plug-in or after scanning,
exported/archived image will remain unchanged.
2. Dual stream is not supported when scanning multi page tiff files.
3. Dual stream is not supported for Drag and Drop operation.
4. Copy & Paste operation of color image will result in a new B/W page which
will not have color data information.
5. Hardware dual stream support is not available with Kofax VRS.
6. Color data is deleted once a page is archived or deleted from stack. It cannot
be brought back using undo operation.
7. Dual stream is not supported when scanning from External storage.
8. Dual stream is not supported for direct File Import without having an input
sub profile

IMAG-8975 Self-healing repair does not work

Deleting installed files manually does not trigger automatic repair mechanism.
Standard repair mechanism works as expected.

SCAN-1568 Size limitation for PDF document export

PDF documents that are scanned using “Transparent pass through for PDF”
option cannot be exported or archived if the size is larger than 80 MB on 32-bit
system.

SCAN-1624 PDF or dual stream documents cannot be sent by email or manually

exported to file system

Imaging Enterprise Scan 16.4.0 Release Notes

31
Sending of PDF or dual stream documents by email is not supported.
Exporting of PDF or dual stream documents to file system is not supported.

SCAN-1657 Communication to Capture Center server behind proxy server

Connection between Enterprise Scan and Capture Center server cannot be

established for protocol “net.tcp secure” if both Enterprise Scan and Capture
Center server are located in the same network domain and a proxy server is
used.

For any restrictions regarding functionality of Capture Center server itself refer
to the Capture Center server documentation at
(https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/cs.dll/Open/17095018.

SCAN-2553 Long group names are not displayed in Configuration Download tool

Archive Center now supports longer user and group names (up to 255
characters). Group names longer than 150 characters are not listed in
Configuration Download tool (ConfigurationDownload.exe).

SCAN-3293 Error during Import from SAP operation in case of missing SAP .Net
Connector 3.0

In the environment where SAP .NET Connector 3.0 is not installed and user
tries to use Import from SAP functionality, an unhandled exception is thrown
with error missing sapnoc.dll.

SCAN-3247 Microsoft Windows 10: Color Picker is not loading in De-skew Page
Processing Plugin

In Page Processing Plugin, De-skew, the color picker is displaying partially.

SCAN-4105 DPCS DocTool - notifications are not working

The workaround is to set below system environment variables in Windows

NOTIFHOST=<Notification Server Name>

NOTIFHTTPPORT = <Port Number>

NOTIFSEND=on

SCAN-4351 Enterprise Scan Repair is not working for Non-Admin user
