Sometimes, children can be the best teachers!
Young people are deeply concerned about the climate crisis.
Many are angry that adequate action is still not being taken
and irresponsible behavior by people across the world is
sabotaging their future.
With glaciers having shrunk, plant and animal ranges shifting
or being destroyed, trees flowering sooner than normal, loss of
sea ice, accelerated sea level rises and more intense heat
waves becoming the norm rather than the exception; our

 ORCHESTRA
A Tribute To Queen
Our concert band this evening performs two pieces- Metallica’s
Ecstasy of Gold and Tito Puente’s Oye Como Va.
“Ecstasy of Gold”, originally composed by Ennio Morricone
was part of the score for the popular film The Good, the Bad and
the Ugly. The group Metallica has used this track as the
introductory music for its concerts since 1983. This (metal)
version was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of
Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 2007. It reached #21 on
Billboard’s Mainstream Rock charts in the same year.
“Oye Como Va” is a song written by Latin jazz and mambo
musician Tito Puente in 1962. This was made more popular by
the Mexican-American rock group Santana’s rendition and saw
the song reach #13 on the Billboard Hot 11 charts. The title of
the song comes from the first words, which can be translated as
“Listen to how [it] goes or “Hey, how is it going?” and has the
rhythm and tempo of the cha-cha-cha.
ENGLISH DRAMA
To Sir, With Love
To Sir, With Love is the story of how society needs
good teachers. It shows the role teachers play in
moulding young minds and preparing them for success
in a world that is quite unknown to them.
This play is an adaptation of the 1967 British drama
film that deals with social and racial issues in an inner
city school. It is the story of a teacher’s personal
journey of discord with his students to forming a real
connection with them. Over time, the protagonist wins
the respect and love of his indisciplined students and in
return realises that he too has grown to be more
empathetic and forgiving during this journey.
The title soundtrack To Sir, With Love was sung by
Lulu and it reached #1 on the U.S pop charts for five
weeks in the autumn of 1967 and ultimately was
Billboard magazine’s #1 pop single for that year.
Our adaptation of this drama also includes Frank
Sinatra’s “My Way”. This 1969 song had lyrics written
by Paul Anka and set to the music of the French song,
“Comme d’habitude which was composed by the
French songwriter Jacques Revaux.
 THAI DANCE
Dance in Thailand is one of the main dramatic art forms
and they have both classical as well as folk dances in their
culture. Despite inroads made by Western entertainment
and changing tastes, the Thai dance forms continue to
hold strong displaying the elegance of an art form refined
over centuries and supported by royal patronage.
Our students’ performance showcases Thai folk music
and dance to a medley of tracks from popular Thai
television shows like Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat, Love
Destiny (Tone No Tone) and also music from Ochoa Oei.
The dance forms include Rampthai and Jintaleela. These
are generally performed to celebrate and honour artistic
ancestors as well as teachers.
JUGALBANDI
Jugalbandi means ‘entwined twins” in which the duet can
either be vocal or instrumental. What defines the jugalbandi is
that all the performers are on an equal footing.
This performance sees our talented vocalists and musicians
perform a jugalbandi between Indian classical and Western
music.
The first is the song, “You Raise Me Up” which was originally
composed by the Irish-Norwegian duo Secret Garden. It gained
popularity in 2003 when David Foster decided to produce the
song and chose the up-and-coming Josh Groban to record the
song, which was accompanied by the tenor Craig Von Vennik
of the Establishment. Groban’s version made it to #1 on the
Billboard charts in early 2004 and remained there for six weeks
and was also nominated for a 2005 Grammy award.
The second song is “Aaoge Jab Tum” sung by Ustad Rashid
Khan to the soulful composition by Sandesh Shandilya and
lyrics penned by Faaiz Anwar. The song featured in the popular
2007 Hindi film Jab We Met.
 CHAIN STORY
Chain stories involve a creative as well as
collaborative process where a story, each
section of which is written by a different
author picking up where the previous one left
off.
Our middle school students of Grades 6 to 8
have written two original stories on “Gender
Equality” and “Terrorism”.
We also have music and visual arts add value
to this impressive act of storytelling where
students use different medium to express their
thoughts
CHOIR
Our choir pays homage to Queen, the British rock band whose
members included Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor
and John Deacon.
Estimates of Queen’s record sales range from 170 million to
300 million records, making them one the world’s best-selling
music artists. The group’s 1981 compilation album, “Greatest
Hits” is the best-selling album in the UK and is certified eight
times platinum in the US.
In 2001, Queen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame and also received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement
Award in 2018.
Their best works include “Bohemian Rhapsody” from the film
A Night at the Opera, “We Will Rock You”, “We Are the
Champions” and “Another One Bites the Dust”
