Keeping Christ in Christmas

Suggestions: Choir may wear Christmas colors (red and green). Narrator may be 1-2
who alternate reading (male and female). They may wear Santa hats and dress colorful.
You could have some dress as homeless to sing one of the carols. The songs may be
solo's, or as a choir. Children could enter and sing the final song, "We Wish You A
Merry Christmas if you would like them to have an entrance (Parents love to see them).
On the Bell songs you can have some children ring bells (Maybe use the very small
ones to give them a part). This program may be presented during a Sunday evening
service in place to your regular service, or as your main program for this season. Use it
however you wish, and God make you a blessing to those in whom you minister.

Narrator: Such a hustle and bustle of excitement rings in the air during the Christmas
season. People are hurrying to and fro buying last minute items to complete their
Christmas lists. They are under pressure to make everyone happy with gifts that will
impress, meeting expressed wishes, and fulfilling long Christmas Lists from children
who are eagerly waiting for Santa to meet their request.
Song: Keep Christ in Christmas

Narrator: We wonder where the time has flown by - working all year, paying the bills,
attending church on Sunday morning, attending all the games and practices of all the
kids, balancing between family, work, and church all seem too much. Time for God is
limited and we find He has been crowded out of our lives as many other things demand
our attention, and those sleepless nights call for a few extra hours of sleep on Sunday
morning. The Bible lays on the table undisturbed day after day – no – week after week.
Have we forgotten why we are here? Where is room for Him in all this?

Song: No Room

Narrator: This problem is not so complex; in fact, it is quite simple. Keeping Christ in
Christmas is more than just a season. It is more than presents, parties, and programs. It
is by daily deliberate choices we make including Him on our EVERY day life and
activities while taking time for what is most important – our relationship with Him and our
service to others.

Song: Christmas Offering

Narrator: As we focus on what is most important, it will change our compassion toward
others, it will reveal to us an awareness of better priorities, and enable us to see a
glimpse of what Christ wants to do in our lives and to what purpose we are here. Rather
than seeking worldly fame, prosperity, and contentment or our own achievements we
will see what we must to in order to prepare for His coming.

Song: O Come, O Come Emmanuel

Narrator: “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor
the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of
the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew
nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is
how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be
taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken
and the other left.” The angels gave the message that night to lowly shepherds tending
the flock by night, and the message it the still the same for us today to be prepared for
His coming.

Song: Angels We  Have Heard On High

Narrator: “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will
come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night
the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be
broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour
when you do not expect him.” Be ready, share His peace to others!

Song: Go, Tell It One the Mountain

Narrator: We live in a world of unrest, fear, poverty, with so many who do not have the
peace that Christ came to bring. They have not heard and felt the love from someone
who really cares for what they are going through. What better way to reach out to those
with the joyful news, and allow God to ring the bells of joy in their hearts this season.

What bells are you listening to? Bells of business and cares of the season or those who
are longing for someone to show them the way to peace - His peace. Pick up those
bells and make some music that will lighten a load, a heart, support a needy family,
show compassion for those struggling with cares of life having a difficult time making
ends meet. Be that bell of peace to them of a Christ who loves them and is coming
again someday!

Song: I heard the Bells, and Ring the Bells

Narrator: Make this bell (hold up bell) a symbol of wishing others a blessed Christmas
this season. Allow you heart to ring with the joy of what Christ has done for you by
giving it back to him through serving others.

Song: We Wish You a Merry Christmas (Children may join)
