0 PROJECT BACKGROUND

It is an Infrastructure project for 2-storey bungalow and 2-storey semi-D housing

is proposed for a 9 acre land at Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor. There are many project
locations to select from around Selangor area but through site visit and site analysis, it
was found out that Kuala Kubu Baru area on Lot 2907, 2908 and 2909 is suitable for the
bungalow and semi-D housing development project. Both of the houses will consist of 5
rooms with toilet and kitchen included. There are 10 units of 2-storey of bungalow house
and 14 units of 2-storey semi-D houses.

2.1 SITE CONDITION

The topography of the site is sloping since it is at the foothill. Although from a
design point of view a sloping site will be more challenging since it plays a big role in the
setting of the building, but one of the advantages in selecting this area is that it can be
safe from floods. Not only that, in designing drainage system, it is most probably would
not be using pumping systems since the area is sloping. Gravity drainage concept will be
used since it uses gravity to drain water away from the houses and provide good as well
as quick drainage of rain water and such. Other than that, there are existing neighborhood
and facilities. From site visit, it was observed that there are various facilities available
nearby the proposed project area. There are existing amenities such as schools, clinics,
library, etc. as well as transportation such as public busses. Types of ground soil were
also taken into consideration in selecting the location.

2.2 EXISTING WATER COURSE

The project’s location is located at a mild sloping area; hence the water surface
runoff boundaries are not exactly passing through the project area. This is due to there are
about three peak hill nearby but the surface water runoff area are mainly directed at the
south area of the map which is being directed at the existing detention pond at the south
area of the map. Not only that, there are existing drainage along the existing road side and
this drainage are receiving the remaining water surface runoff. So, to sum it up, the
existing surface water runoff at the project area is at minimum.

Figure shows existing watershed inside the catchment area

1. Yellow
Yellow line is to represent the catchment boundaries which is carries 87.7 hectare
area with and average slope 2.0 percent. To ensure the development and the strategic
analysis of watershed inside the catchment area must be consider before enter the design
of hydraulic structure system and to estimate the flow peak that will effect into the
development area.

2. Red
Red line is the represented area of development area which is carries 9.0 hectare
with average slope also 2.0 percent. Figure shows that area to be develop will not
affected by the watershed from the highest peak of catchment area. So we only consider
the watershed inside the development area. It is presently fully developed with an average
housing density of 10 to 8 houses with different type of house and it is presently a green
area and is expected to remain in this state in future.

3. Blue

Watershed inside the catchment area shown and represented by the blue line. The
image shows the water runoff that occurs from rainfall and storm activities happen in that
area. Mostly the watershed flow and discharge into the existing drainage and ponds.

4. Green

Existing road and residential drainage near the development area shown in the
picture which highlighted with green colour. So basically watershed from catchment area
that we consider will be discharge into the existing drainage. Inside area of development
we will propose the detention pond that will control the flow before it can be discharge
into the nearby existing drainage.

2.3 ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

To achieve the project’s objective, project team is made and each member plays
their own important role in the development of project management plan. In this plan, it
includes gathering required information for the project, defining client requirements,
project budgeting for each preliminary works, scheduling and more. The project team
was founded on November 2019 by Benjemine and colleagues. With a total of 5
members, the team project started off with a small scale project to medium sized projects.
Below are the members of our team.
