I have learned how to deal with adolescent teenagers – in all their complicated and entertaining
moments. I have realized the coaching potential I have in helping students qualify for both the
National and State speech tournaments in the local district qualification competitions. Both
actualizations have allowed me to recognize I have the ability to teach others and influence them
based on my life choices and attitude toward hard work.

This program gave me a weekly responsibility to tutor undergraduate Biology students in need of
alternative explanations of concepts, basic understanding of study skills for exams, how to
construct an exceptional lab report, or any other study requests that were made. Through
tutoring, I was able to meet other upper-level tutors and learn about their experiences at SCSU. I
was able to network with new students and professors to use as my own references when needed
for recommendations or suggestions in a wide variety of my own learning experience.

By being an employee for SCSU, I was able to learn the in's and out's of the methods behind
recruiting prospective students to our University. Every day I learned new techniques to keep an
individual interested in the information I present to them. The professionalism of the staff has
allowed me to learn the ways I must act and push myself daily so that I am able to succeed in the
workplace after college.
