JOB DESCRIPTION: MANAGER – BRAND & COMMUNICATIONS

Job Title Manager – Brand & Communications

Save the Children is the world’s leading independent child rights’ organization: it
fights for children’s rights and delivers immediate and lasting improvement to
children’s lives worldwide. Save the Children has existed in India since the pre-
Independence days. Save the Children, Bal Raksha, Bharat (SC BR) is the 28th
independent member of the International Save the Children Alliance. Since it’s
establishment as a separate independent entity in 2008, Save the Children has made
rapid strides and today counts as one of the leading NGOs in the country. As a
brand, Save the Children is poised to replicate some of its global success and it is in
that context that the Manager – Brand & Communications will operate.

Job Purpose
To synergise, coordinate and focus all communication activities towards enhancing
the recognition & reinforcing the respect of the Save the Children brand in line with
Save the Children’s vision, mission and values

Main responsibilities:
Strategy and financials

• Analyse, formulate and articulate, working closely with the CEO, Marketing
Director, the Alliance Fundraising Team and other Save the Children
organisations, a communication strategy for Save the Children in line with the
vision, mission and strategy of the organization in order to effectively position the
Save the Children brand to internal and external stakeholders

• Act as the brand custodian for Save the Children to co-develop the brand
positioning for Save the Children in India. To develop creative approaches based
on the positioning and ensure standardization of designs, formats, audiovisuals,
templates themes communication and publicity material etc.

• Ensure that Save the Children’s communication strategy gets buy in from all
stakeholders and is implemented uniformly across all areas of operation

• Identify and retain external agencies to manage PR, Advertising and website
activities - ensure that these agencies adhere to service level agreements and
monitor quality of services
• To actively manage Save the Children’s presence in all digital spaces including
the Save the Children website so that key objectives around engagement and
revenues are achieved.
• To build partnerships with media owners and corporate partners to enhance the
profile of Save the Children
• Supervise the process of media buying and ensure that content is of a high
quality as well as the choice of medium is appropriate

• Manage the communications budget and ensure that controls are in place to
monitor and report on expenditure on returns on investments
Process and communication

• Undertake organisational and environmental analysis, and prepare the budgets,


plans and priorities for the communication function

• Ensure that the advocacy approach to child rights that organisation has adopted
is supported effectively by communication efforts

• Increase the visibility of organisation and help to position it as the leading


working for child rights
• Ensure that all communication needs for Direct Marketing and Corporate
Marketing are met with accuracy as far as the relevant stakeholders are
concerned
• Supervise the process of content development and communication through the
Save the Children website - ensure that all web based content is in line with the
organisation’s branding & communication strategy

• Set up processes to monitor compliance with branding norms of organisation


across operations, ensure that deviations are highlighted and managed
• Ensure timely reporting of information for the functional and financial MIS

• Ensure effective coordination with Programme, Advocacy & Policy and other
functions as required for exchange of information and work needs

Others

• Promote the work of Save the Children – communicating, both internally and
externally, in an accurate, sensitive and motivating fashion

• Ensure that all marketing activities comply with applicable law at all times,
including compliance with data protection legislation

• Understand and be an advocate, internally and externally, for the values of


Save the Children

• Other duties as required in line with your skills, experience and role

Professional Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualifications: Post Graduation in Marketing/PR from a recognised


institute

Experience: 7 years of relevant experience in a competitive market environment

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Excellent knowledge of Office IT packages: Word, Excel, PowerPoint


• Willingness to travel within India and internationally
• Willingness to work irregular hours when the job dictates (such as for events,
in emergency response times etc)
• Strong commitment to the aims and objectives of Save the Children
