MABALACAT CITY COLLEGE

INSTITUTE OF ARTS, SCIENCES AND TEACHER EDUCATION

DOLORES, MABALACAT CITY PAMPANGA

COURSE OUTLINE

Course Code: GPHYS 117

Course Title: General Physics I
Program: Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science
Credit Units: 4

I. Course Description

This course covers the fundamental aspects of physics that emphasizes on the introduction for
students about the general concepts of classical mechanics, mechanics of particles and fluids,
waves, heat and thermodynamics. The topics work, energy, momentum and gravitation will also
be discussed fundamentally.

II. Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILO)

At the end of this course, the students should be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of core knowledge in physics, including the major
premises of classical mechanics, thermodynamics, fluids and waves.
2. Exhibit skills in problem solving related to physics principles and interpretation of
laboratory data.
3. Solve problems individually and collaboratively
4. Design and conduct an experiment (or series of experiments) demonstrating their
understanding of the scientific method and processes. Students will demonstrate an
understanding of the analytical methods required to interpret and analyze results and
draw conclusions as supported by their data
5. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the analytical approach to modeling of physical
phenomena.
