Workplace YOGA and Wellness Programme (WYWP)

Yoga is an ancient cultural heritage of India. It is the science of mind, body and spirit.
It is to be learn scientifically and systematically. Yoga is acknowledged not only a preventive
method of treatment but also a curative method of treatment in so many diseases. The
companies that offer Yoga and other wellness programme benefits greatly reduce their
health insurance premiums and increase their bottom-line. Yoga is the panacea on the
modern age health and lifestyle problems.
Yogic philosophy and psychology is very much instrumental in bringing about the
physically, mentally and spiritually healthy leader. As per Yogic philosophy - Human
personality is the composite structure of 5 layers. Annamay Kosha- physical
body, Pranamay Kosha- pranik body, Manomay kosha- mental body, Vidnyanmay
kosha- wisdom body and Anandmay kosha- conscious body. Yoga is called holistic not
only in physical term. It synchronizes all koshas. Yoga is a Complete Science.

A growing number of companies in the globe are shifting focuss from wellness
programme to well-being initiatives which tackles Emotional and mental Health, sense of
fulfilment, work is worship, which is rightly explained in Srimad Bhagwatgita-
“Yogaha karmashu kausalyam” means perform your duties skilfully that is Yoga.

In what way Yoga helps Your employees (and Your own)

in increasing more productivity at work?

Increases Energy / Reduces Fatigue

One study showed that sitting for 5+ hours is a productivity killer and has the same health
effect as smoking a pack of cigarettes! Working nonstop also creates stress. Even just
standing up or doing some stretching or physical activity every 30 minutes greatly increases
blood circulation. Incorporating simple yoga moves at these times is a great way to avoid
fatigue.

Alleviates Physical Ailments
If you’re suffering from aches, pains or even more serious physical problems, this will affect
your productivity. No matter what kind of job you have, if you are constantly thinking about
and dealing with ailments and pain, the last thing your mind will be on is work. Yoga can
help relieve even the most severe pain and physical problems regular headaches, carpal
tunnel, neck strain, shoulder stiffness, arthritis, etc.
Relieves Stress
Almost all diseases come from the root of mind (psycho-somatic). Yoga treats mind. Mental
and emotional stress is the major factor affecting employee health and work productivity,
say stress is the reason for 90 percent of all doctor visits. Stress resultant into physical
ailments and conditions (from colds, allergies and headaches to diabetes, cancer and heart
disease).Stress accounts for billions of business dollars lost due to reduced productivity,
absenteeism, employee turnover, accidents and medical fees.
Improves Concentration & Focus
Stressful deadlines, endless meetings and the general cacophony of a workplace create
mental clutter that prevents you from concentrating on tasks and making good decisions.
Yoga’s meditation and breathing exercises help to silence the noise and clear the clutter,
letting you be more mindful, alert and focused. As yoga helps you better concentrate and
focus, it also opens the mind so the creative juices and energy can flow. You can’t think
outside of the box when your brain is confined within the box.
Increases Positivity/Morale
If you physically, mentally and emotionally feel well, your morale will be high. If you are
focused and energetic, your positivity will be strong. If your creativity is unleashed, your
self-confidence will soar. And all of this will make you a better employee—in your job
responsibilities, your dealings with clients and your interactions with fellow employees.
Healthy, relaxed and focused employees are more productive and cost effective. And
offering yoga classes at work or off-site is a low-cost and effective way to achieve happy
and productive employees.
On-Site Fitness Programs
Nothing is better for life balance, joy, longevity, health, and work productivity than physical
activity. Any workplace can incorporate this when options range from sit-stand desks to
guided yoga classes, stress management seminars, or full-scale on-site fitness centers. When
staff is expected to stay in the office, employers can give them perks that make them feel
better and perform better
Mindfulness Training
Mindfulness training is a great tool to help your employees relieve stress and feel balanced,
but also increase productivity and focus on their day-to-day work. Mindfulness practices
such as meditation, breathing, and yoga help employees be more present as well as enhance
their efficiency. At the end of the day, implementing a mindfulness program is a win-win for
both the employee and the company
Healthy Food (eat to Live, not live to eat)
It has been said that "food is thy medicine." The formation of the Physical body (cells) is
directly related to the kind of food we consume. Yogic ahaar (diet) teaches about sattvik
(fresh, pure, organic) food which has very positive effect on our body and mind.

Sound sleep training
Sleep is very important for employee well-being and productivity. Lack of sleep among the
U.S. workforce costs the nation’s economy as much as $1 billion a year. 90 % Indians are
sleep deprived. Yogic relaxation techniques like Yogamudra, savasana are the most
effective way to tackle this problem. It can boost alertness, improve employee performance
and contribute to the company's overall growth.
A Gratitude Practice
Gratitude in action. I have found that this practice yields a high level of awareness that may
not have existed prior. Following awareness, actions begin to align with desired outcomes.
The result is that gratitude turns into personal accountability. Move it into action so others
can experience it, and organizationally, both mental and physical wellness are positively
impacted
Deep sense of purpose and contribution
Creating corporate social responsibility programs that engage employees in non-profit
causes and educational development programs is key to experiencing well-being. Growth
and success seem meaningless when there's no purpose attached to them and no one else
to whom we can give back. A fulfilling and healthy life is full of purpose and opportunities
to contribute to others.
Team building
Forget company bowling leagues and softball teams! Yoga has quickly become one of the
top corporate team building exercises, and for good reason. Yoga’s stress-relieving
properties not only help your employee’s power through their own work load, but will also
help them work more cohesively as a team. One negative attitude can bring down the entire
mood of the office, but yoga helps to elevate spirits and keep tempers even. Workplace yoga
is also great for team building because it is a shared experience. Having yoga to look
forward to and participate in together will encourage bonding within your team regardless
of their skill levels.
