Brgy. Mampayag, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon

Manufactured by VRM Bukid Inc. at its Fermentation Plant in Brgy. Mampayag, Manolo Fortich,
Bukidnon, Humilyf Liquid or Powder Microbial Inoculum features a community of several species of
effective naturally-occurring microorganisms, several enzymes and essential vitamins and minerals.
Similar to the mixture of effective microbes pioneered by Teruo Higa, a professor in the Agricultural
Department of the University of the Ryukyus in Japan, which boost plant productivity, the microbes are
harmoniously living together, are locally found in the Philippines and are not genetically engineered.
VRM Bukid Inc. shares with Professor Higa’s vision in microbes to increase global agricultural output
and fight hunger worldwide.

Humilyf composition starts at yeast as the backbone of fermentation: it starts the process by breaking
down sugars to produce ethanol and carbon dioxide. Included in the product are photosynthetic
microbes that use energy from sunlight to break down organic products and create nutrients. While
yeast kick starts fermentation by breaking down sugars, these microbes process the bulk of the organic
matter in the soil into nutrients that boost plant growth. Lactic acid bacteria and Actinomycetes are
also added to inhibit dangerous bacteria from growing, as well as special fungi that speed up these
reactions. In reality, Humilyf may have 26 or more species of microorganisms, all designed to break
down organic matter to maximize nutrient output. It is also formulated with prebiotics to help the
probiotics flourish.

Microbes Involved Mode of Nutrition Species

Yeast Yeast can degrade organic compounds to Saccharomyces cerevisiae,
carbon dioxide and water with the use of Candida utilis
free molecular oxygen or as sugars to
ethanol in the absence of free molecular
oxygen.

They produce natural antimicrobial and

useful substances for plant growth.

Their metabolites are food for other

bacteria such as Lactic acid and
Actinomycetes groups.
Lactic acid bacteria Lactic acid bacteria use sugar as their sole Lactobacillus plantarum, L.
source of carbon through homolactic cellobiosus, L. brevi , L.
fermentation and produce lactate as an ramnosus, Streptococcus
end product. thermophillus, Bacillus subtilis, B.
licheniformis, B. nato
Differentiated by their powerful sterilizing
properties. They suppress harmful
microorganisms and encourage quick
breakdown of organic substances. They
suppress reproduction of harmful fungi
such as Fusarium.
Photosynthetic It degrades difficult biodegradable Rhodopseudomonas palustris,
bacteria compounds. It decreases sludge Rhodobacter sphaeroides,
production. Azobacter sp., Azospirillium sp

Playing the leading role in effective

microbes activities, they synthesize useful
substances from secretions of roots,
organic acids and/or harmful gases such
as hydrogen sulphide through sunlight or
heat of the soil as energy. They
contribute to the better usage of sunlight
or in other words, better photosynthesis.
Actinomycetes With sufficient hydraulic retention time, Streptomyces albus, S. griseus
organic phosphorus compounds are
degraded through microbial activity and
orthophosphate is released from
phosphorus containing compounds.

They can suppress harmful fungi and

bacteria and can live together with
photosynthetic bacteria.
Fungi Fungi decompose organic matter rapidly Aspergillus oryzae, Mucor
to produce alcohol, esters and hiemalis (Diver 2001)
antimicrobial substances. These suppress
odours of wastewater.

Enzymes: protease, lipase, amylase, catalase, lactase, cellulose, saccrase

Essential vitamins and minerals: fumic acid, humic acid, diatomaceous earth, seaweed extract, moringa,
zeolite, chitin, etc.

Humilyf specific functions in agriculture, livestock, aquaculture, domestic and industrial waste, sanitary
landfills, and recycling can be grouped into 6:

1. Nutrient availability – Microbes in Humilyf allow for photosynthesis to occur to create nutrients
available to the plants as well as nitrogen-fixation, phosphorus-solubilization, and water
production. These microbes also immobilize or retain nutrients in the soil. By using Humilyf,
you “nurture the soil.”
2. Disease control and management - Microbes in Humilyf prevent the entry of pathogenic
microbes and coupled with making the organism healthy and fit, disease is well contained.

3. Rapid decomposition – Microbes in Humilyf initiate the decomposition of fresh organic

residues. They help get things going by softening organic debris and making it easier for other
organisms to join in the decomposition process. In doing this, they also recycle minerals for
plant growth and the decomposition process is enhanced.

4. Probiotic – Several microbes in Humilyf are probiotics to promote better immune function and
to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria. These microbes also produce protease, an enzyme
which is necessary for proper gut health. Although protease is not a probiotic, it is a required
enzyme for breaking down sugars into simpler nutrients. By doing this, probiotic bacteria are
able to readily absorb and convert the nutrients into soldiers in the fight against bad bacterial
growth.

5. Reduction/removal of foul odor – Microbes in Humilyf breakdown gases such as ammonia and
hydrogen sulphide in wastes to reduce or remove foul odor.

6. Treatment of waste effluents - Microbes in Humilyf are used in wastewater treatment due to its
ability to degrade phenolic compounds found in domestic and industrial effluent.

Other Information: Humilyf Liquid and Powder Microbial Inoculum have no contaminants such as
Salmonella as determined by the Regional Standard and Testing Laboratory of the Department of
Science and Technology, Regional Office No. 10, Cagayan de Oro City. No toxins are added to make the
product dangerous to human health. No mask and protective gear are necessary for its application.

Other organic products manufactured by VRM Bukid Inc. with their specific actions:

Humigrow – a soil conditioner consisting of corn cobs and chicken manure processed with the effective
microorganisms of Humilyf to eliminate pathogenic microbes, residual antibiotics and other harmful
chemicals. It enriches the soil at land preparation or during crop culture to make nutrients available
immediately to the plants.

Humitech – an organic nematicide composting of chitin processed with the effective microorganisms of
Humilyf which acts on all nematodes.

Humiearth – an effective treatment for pests such as aphids, mites and leaf miners consisting of earth
minerals processed with the effective microorganisms of Humilyf.

Humiplus – seaweed and fish fermented in Humilyf for micronutrient supplementation to support plant
growth, strengthen the immune system and as an anti-stress.
