Party on with Party On!

The day of your child's birthday party is looming. You have invit-
ed the class mates even the ones who you have never met before.
The cake is ordered and the weather is so unpredictable you decid-
ed against the bouncy castle. You take a trip to the supermarket
where you buy enough provisions to feed most of Youghal too.
The big day arrives and you have hidden the breakables and
scrubbed the house from top to bottom and then covered all your
hard work up with copious amounts of balloons and bunting. The
clock strikes 2! And chaos descends on your home for the next 2
hours. By 3 o'clock the children are creating a whirlwind in your
front room and the noise level is equivalent to that of Croke Park
on finals day. Finally at 4 o'clock the first of the parents arrive after
Group who attended the celebrations their 2 hours of peace and tranquillity. And by about 7 o'clock you
have the house back to some semblance of normality and you col-
lapse in a heap to enjoy a feast of curly sandwiches and healthy
snacks that have been left untouched in favour of those luminous
sugar shots known as treats.
SOUND FAMILIAR??? PARTY ON! ARE HERE TO HELP!

Minor Hurling League Killeagh-Ita's 4-9 Sliabh Rua 3-17
Our visitors, Sliabh Rua, hit the sod running (and scoring) in Páirc Killeagh Camogie Club Committee
Uí Chinnéide last Saturday. They had secured 1-5 on the board
before we settled into the action. We closed the gap, scoring 1-2
without reply but they did not allow us to catch or overtake them.
They upped the ante and broke through our defence again, increas-
ing their early lead by tacking on a further 1-3. We tried hard and
kept it close with some fine long range points, but their third goal
just before the half time whistle put us on the back foot again and
left the score board reading 3-8 to 1-6. With a handicap of minus
8 going into the second half, we had our work cut out for us, but
we grouped well as a team and more importantly we hurled like
Trojans in the opening twenty minutes. Our rewards came, as we Amy Murphy and Sarah Smiddy Leanne Geany and Alannah Budds
secured a hat-trick of goals and some fine points, and dominated
our visitors in this period. We were heading for a nail biting finale Raffle Prizewinners;
as we had their lead down to the minimum at 3-12 to 4-8. Alas, the Parents Prize: Geraldine

'THE WIZARD OF WISHAW' JOHN HIGGINS,
BECOMES THE 'WIZARD OF YOUGHAL'
By Derek Kiely
WORLD Ranked number one snooker professional John Higgins
was in Youghal last Saturday evening for a rare exhibition match
at the Youghal CYMS and the 'Wizard of Wishaw' didn't disap-
point the huge crowd potting a maximum 147 break on his way to
a devastating evening of top class snooker.
There was a Civic Reception afforded to John and a packed Mall
House heard the praise ring out for one of snookers famous sons,
but this was different than other receptions that I have been to as
there seemed to be a fantastic atmosphere and a real affinity with
the man, as one person said to me "Sure he's like one of our own"
and I couldn't agree more, John Higgins really does have that aura
about him, they makes you feel like you've known him all your
life.

is he patient, polite and respectful to all he meets, but the man
came across as genuine in every department.
"Steve Davis was my role model in every respect, he was a gentle-
man on and off the table and if I could emulate that I would be
very happy indeed" said Higgins.
Of course the Scot who is a well known Celtic FC fanatic has Irish
roots, with his grandmother Peggy Doyle originally from
Magherafelt in County Derry and over the years he would have
made many trips to Ireland as he still has a lot of relations in
County Derry, but last Saturday night was the first time that John
Higgins had been to East Cork and he clearly enjoyed the experi-
ence.
"I love coming to venues like the Youghal CYMS because they
really are true snooker venues, where people like Brendan Cooney
and his committee look after the youngsters and help to teach them
good values. It is great to see the young kids here tonight, I

have just moved clubs and joined the 'Cue Club' in Glasgow and I
am based now alongside the likes of Stephen Maguire and Marcus
Campbell who are top Scottish players which will be good for me
and I can train against them every day and sharpen my game"
Higgins added.
Playing an exhibition match is indeed a rarity for Higgins, so when
the audience in the Youghal CYMS witnessed six 50+ breaks Liam McLellan and Daithi Cooney
Aaron Tobin and Joe Yellop
including two centuries and a magnificent maximum 147 the Scot
was delighted as the room gave him a rapturous standing ovation,
"I have never been very big on exhibitions because I have always
been the type of player that put all my time into fully concentrat-
ing on practice and I have always put my time into playing tour-
naments where you make your living really, but since I have won
the World Championship there have been a few more people want-
ing to see me, which is great and when I can do that I will and I
was delighted tonight getting the 147, it was brilliant, I think the
crowd really enjoyed it".
Higgins flew in from Edinburgh especially for last night's exhibi-

reigning World Champion and the standard of his play tonight was
astonishing, plus a very first 147 at the Society, it was just fantas-

It seems the 'Wizard of Wishaw' became the 'Wizard of Youghal'
last Saturday night after an astounding display of top class snook-

afternoon at Frogmore, where Youghal
lost their vital Munster Junior League
Division 2 bottom of the table battle
against St Mary's from County Limerick,
by the narrowest of margins and in the John Fitzgibbon of Aherne’s
cruellest of fashion. Seafood presenting the Match
On a cold biter afternoon, Youghal played Sponsorship to Charlie
O’Neill Youghal RFC
with the very strong breeze at their backs
in the first half. It was the perfect start for home side who got the
first try of the match in the third minute when a superb offload in Jack Whelan and Stacy Quinlivan
the middle of the field from Shane Coyne found the hands of
Youghal's scrum half Stephen Kelly who broke the line and went
on a bursting run towards the right corner.
The conversion was missed from a very difficult position on the
right wing by Jonathon Ormonde, but the early score was a real
boost to Sean O'Neill's men.
Credit to St Mary's who responded well to conceding the early try
and the men from Co. Limerick certainly controlled the ball well
for the next ten minutes until forcing a penalty 30 meters out from
the Youghal goal. The kick was no forgone conclusion as full back
Barry Gibbons was kicking into a fierce breeze, but the kick was
true and the deficit was reduced to just two points.
Youghal battled hard in the line as well as in the rucks for the fol-
lowing five minutes and after a quick penalty was taken on the
18th minute 35 meters out, which came close to Youghal breaking
through for their second try, this time on the left wing, the ball was
dropped, but referee Denis Keane decided that the St Mary's team
hadn't retreated the full ten meters and another penalty was award-
ed, but this time Youghal decided to kick and Ormonde slotted the
ball between the posts to re-establish the eight point margin.
Again a fiercely determined St Mary's team fighting for their lives
put themselves back into a good scoring position on the 25th
minute when a Youghal hand in the ruck was penalised.
The kick again was of the highest quality from Gibbons and again
the margin was reduced to just 2 points.
Worse was to come for Youghal on the stroke of half time when
Youghal conceded yet another penalty and the resulting kick was
again struck over by Gibbons giving the travelling team from
Limerick the one point advantage at the break.
St Mary's exerted massive pressure early on in the second half and
with Youghal losing Gary McArdle wasn't going to help, but in
came Conor Coleman who made a massive difference to the team
from the start. Then as many people have often seen over the years
a magic moment from Youghal started by Simon Prim who fly
kicked a ball through the Mary's defence, then followed it up with
another kick bringing the ball well inside the Mary's '22' and ago-
nising just millimetres away from the on-running Stephen Kelly's
grasp as the St Mary's number eight of all people Pat Hickey
kicked the ball to touch.
This set up an attacking platform for Youghal and after a series of
penalties and rucks Conor Coleman burrowed his way over the line
for a crucially unconverted try and Youghal had a four point lead.
There were two last ditch try saving tackles, but cruelty above all
cruelty Youghal conceded a late try on the 79th minute when a ball
thrown left from a St Mary's ruck found full back Barry Gibbins in Conna Dramatic Society Presents
space and with his speed and power he ran in to the corner for the
crucial try. Youghal Team: J Browne, C Lane, G McArdle, S Sieve by John B Keane

MOUSTACHES Masses Offered

It's been a bad year for moustaches; a poor trip for the upper lip
It's been poor God knows for the lower nose
Where the fungus halts the drip
Will those who think of him today,
It's been smooth sailing for eyelashes; no fears for beards there be A little prayer to Jesus say.
But it's been a bum's rush for the manicured brush
-Thanks to Willie O'Dea Always remembered by his daughter Thérése,
Séan and family.
The eyes of the world were on Willie, trying to keep a straight face in place
With the aid of a 'tache resembling a rash
Or some sort of strange grey life from space

Willie sent that 'tache up, down and sideways and dancing about on his Foley
mouth In Loving Memory of my parents
As he spun at full throttle in the hope that a brothel
Would not see his career counted out

It stayed true, it stayed stiff yet stayed nubile; it stayed glued as the battle
ensued
It remained a non-quitter as Dan Boyle and his twitter
Tried to make Willie's job stewed and screwed

It stayed stubborn near Cowen and Coughlan, refusing to fall in the Dail
As Willie insisted and further persisted Mary & John Joe Foley
That his memory had lapsed -that was all! Ballinalough, Killeagh, Cork.
Whose 48th & 56th Anniversaries occur at this time.
But all hairy lips were a-quiver; men sighed and some women cried Masses Offered.
Because unfortunate Willie looked increasingly silly
The more the truth showed he had lied!

Until even the Greens were embarrassed, then held sway at the end of A little prayer to Jesus say.

In their graves Mussolini and Hitler will have spun as the story was run
While Einstein no doubt would have failed to work out

And politely requested to leave Masses Offered.

It's been a bad year for moustaches; smooth grins are now needed to win Will those who think of them today,

And dump it -with Willie- in the bin.

Who can benefit from Acupuncture?
A child who is unwell is always a worry for a parent, and the
whole family can often be left feeling physically and emotionally

child and can upset the balance at home and at school.
Acupuncture offers a holistic treatment which will relieve symp-
