● Most of the introduction will begin during a lesson before we go to the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame to prepare the students for what they are about to experience.
● Students will be given a guided-notes worksheet that they will use to help guide their thinking
as they explore the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
○ This worksheet is not “busy work.” Rather it will help facilitate learning by getting the
learner in the correct mindset to explore music history through the lense of the Vietnam
War and the counterculture.

Instructional activities Teaching/learning activities are engaging, appropriate to students and objectives, adequately planned.
Includes modeling, guided practice and independent practice. Instructional plan provides differentiation for diverse student
interests, strengths and needs. What instructional strategies and methods are you going to implement?

● 50 Minutes- Explore the first part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with guided-notes
worksheet.
● 60 Minutes- Students will attend “Fight the Power”; Music as a Social Force” lesson
presentation by the museum staff members
○ This will dive into specifics about music and counterculture as well as hint at specifics
into how music shaped the thoughts around the Vietnam War.
● 30 Minutes- After the conclusion of the class, students will participate in an activity in which
they listen to music from the era while looking at various pictures from the era. Students will
use ideas like lyrics, sounds, instruments, etc.to determine if the images they are seeing actually
reflect how people felt about the Vietnam War.
● Lunch Break
● 120 Minutes- Students will get to explore the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The lense that they
have gained through the presentation from museum staff as well as the activity should guide
their thoughts about the impact of Rock and Roll had on American society during the
1950s-1970s. Students will complete a guided sheet that covers the topics in the museum. This
ensures that students are actively reading and seeing the information that will be required for
the next portion of the lesson the following day.
● 30 Minutes- Students will engage in a writing-reflection activity to help them synthesize the
information they have learned. During this activity, students will share how they believe music
impacts society and why music and other forms of art shaped our perception of the Vietnam
War.

Conclusion/closure: How will you end the lesson? What concluding concepts/thoughts/questions will end this lesson?
● After the reflection activity at the end, students will share their thoughts with other students
