GRACE PACIFIC CORPORATION PLEDGES $100,000

TO MĀLAMA LEARNING CENTER

Kapolei, HI – Mālama Learning Center today announced that Grace Pacific Corporation has
pledged $100,000 to MLC‟s fundraising campaign. David Hulihee, president of Grace Pacific,
committed that the funds will be used for planning, design and construction of the facility. To date,
$40,000 has been paid to MLC, with the remainder of the donation to be completed over the next
three years.

Grace Pacific‟s donation will help to make Mālama Learning Center‟s vision a reality, to
become a place in West O'ahu that brings art, science, conservation and culture together to
promote sustainable living throughout Hawai„i. It will serve as a place where students,
teachers, residents and businesses from across the island can learn about environmental,
economic and social sustainability through science, culture and the arts.

“We are extremely grateful for David‟s leadership and continued support of Mālama
Learning Center,” said Pauline Sato, program director at Mālama Learning Center. “This
generous gift puts us one step closer to bringing MLC to life.”

Grace Pacific has a long history of building lasting community partnerships. As one of Hawai„i‟s
leading construction and paving companies, Grace Pacific supports various community
organizations that promote care for the environment and educational excellence.

"We are proud to share our aloha with Mālama Learning Center, as we understand and believe in
its innovative approach to make learning about our environment and culture accessible for
everyone,” said David Hulihee, president of Grace Pacific Corporation.

About Mālama Learning Center
The Mālama Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the state of
Hawai„i. It began as a concept in 2001, with Kapolei High School seeking a performing arts
auditorium for the community, and a local conservation group seeking an environmental learning
center. The two ideas merged, blossomed, and evolved, nurtured by creative ideas and energy
brought by innovative community members yearning to build a "soul" for the new city of Kapolei.

About Grace Pacific Corporation

Founded in 1920 by three brothers and incorporated in 1931, Grace Brothers, Ltd. operated for
many years as a construction materials supplier. In 1930, Walter F. Dillingham founded Hawaiian
Bitumuls & Paving Company, and the company became the sole bitumuls distributor in Hawaii—
little known to mogul Dillingham that his entity would become part of Grace Pacific Corporation
at the turn of the next century. In the 1940's, Hawaiian Bitumuls and Paving began manufacturing
an entirely new product called asphaltic concrete, commonly known today as Hot Mix Asphalt or
HMA. The material was produced at a central plant where a mixture of high quality aggregates
and hot asphalt binder produced a product similar to what we see in the roads today.

Statehood in 1959 and the beginning of the construction boom in the 1960's brought dynamic
changes to Hawaii. The state welcomed tourists in record numbers in the 1970‟s through the early
1990‟s. Major airport and freeway construction was undertaken to create and upgrade the
infrastructure that was necessary to support this growth.

Grace Brothers purchased a quarry at Nanakuli and asphalt paving plants at Halawa and on
Molokai from Nanakuli Limestone and Gravel Company in 1973, and thereon entered the paving
business. In 1975, the employees of Grace Brothers bought out the last of the Grace family's
interest through one of the first employee stock ownership plans. In 1984, Grace purchased the
stock of Pacific Concrete & Rock Co. from Baker International and, in so doing, secured the lease
to the present rock quarry at Makakilo. Grace then merged the two companies and their names,
creating Grace Pacific Corporation.

With the synergy of the paving and quarry operations, the company grew and diversified product
lines beyond highway paving and reconstruction to include the manufacture of asphaltic concrete
and crushed basalt, limestone, and sand aggregates. The breadth of our business continued with
establishment of asphaltic concrete and paving operations on the islands of Molokai, Maui, and the
Big Island, and purchase of a quarry on the island of Molokai.

With the acquisition of Hawaiian Bitumuls & Paving Company in 2001, Grace Pacific is
recognized as the custodian of Hawaii‟s roads. This opportunity, along with the acquisitions of
Niu Construction in 2002 and SUN Industries in 2003, and the joint venture formation of GP/RM
Prestress, Maui Paving, and GLP Asphalt continues the legacy of the company‟s commitment to
the state‟s economy. Today with 590 employees dedicated to meet our customers‟ needs and
expectations every day, Grace Pacific continually focuses on being a supplier exceeded by no
other, wherever Grace Pacific operates.
