PROJECT SUMMARY

ESTABLISHMENT
OF A
MUSHROOM PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING PROJECT

I. NAME OF THE BUSINESS

Mushroom Garden

The name of the business pertains to the proponent’s main produce,


fresh organic mushroom. We believed that mushroom is a very good
source of fiber that helps us in releasing the toxins out of our body.
Mushroom can be added to different kind of dishes and it can be
processed into specialty food like burger, tempura and sisig.
Nowadays, most people wanted something organic because it’s good
to our health and is easy to cook.

II. LOCATION OF THE BUSINESS

The growing and processing of mushroom will be located at Viloria


Farm, Bgry. Pangatian, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. The said farm
has a lot area of approximately 3 hectares. The farm has sufficient
space and available facilities to house the project. The existing
facilities are as follows:

- 2 nipa hut (enclosed)


- 2 vacant building structure that measures around 20
sq.m.
- 1 8 sq.m. kitchen

These facilities can be used for free by the owners because it is owned
by one of the business partners. So the business partners can save a
lot of resources to start the business.

III. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

3.1 General Objective

To harness the renewable resources in the province through integrated


mushroom production and processing and be able to provide additional
employment and investments in the province through the substantial
income that will be generated from the business.

3.2 Specific Objectives

A. To provide employment opportunities to at least 5 people


for its first year of operation with an increase of additional
2 jobs per year.

B. To promote the consumption of healthy and organic food


for the consumers.

C. To contribute to the preservation of the environment


through waste recycling initiatives.
D. To produce quality and competitive high value processed
products out of organic mushroom.

E. To improve the marketability of the products through the


promotion of highly nutritious and medicinal food products
like mushroom in its raw and processed form.

F. To expand the market of fresh and processed mushroom


within and outside the Philippines.

IV. NATURE OF THE BUSINESS

The project involves the production of fresh and processed


organic mushroom.

- Pleurotus Florida
- Pleurotus Sajor-caju

Processed Mushroom

- Tempura Mushroom
- Burger Mushroom
- Mushroom Sisig

Demand and Supply


The mushroom industry is one of the oldest industries within and
outside the country. Many people know about the medicinal and
nutritional benefits of the product. It is a well known product and need
not much promotion since it is a kind of food that all levels of the
society consume.

In the supermarkets, you can only buy mushroom in the morning


because very few people could sell it but a lot of buyers demand for
the product. In the afternoon, there will be no available mushroom in
the market. The demand for the product is very high because it is a
healthy alternative for meat products.

In the province, there are only 3 mushroom producers in the province.


The biggest producer is Nagano’s Farm locate in San Leonardo. He will
be the source of fruiting bags for our business.

The potential buyers for the products are the following:

- Restaurants
- Hotels
- Fast foods
- Supermarkets
- School canteens

Participation to trade fairs and exhibits will be adopted to promote the


products in the domestic market. Pricing and costing will be properly
executed to become competitive in the local and domestic market.
Taste test will be undertaken to support the promotion of processed
mushroom products.

V. MODE OF FINANCING
The project funds will come from the members of the group. Each will
contribute P50,000.00 with a total of P300,000.00. The money are
personal contribution of the members.

No borrowings will be undertaken.


FORM OF BUSINESS ORGANIZATION

The members/owners choose “SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP” as its


form of business organization. Since it is easier to form and a very
small amount of capital needed, it is also very easy to wind up the
business. It is the owners’ decision to form or wind up the business at
any time. The owners’ have limited liability and the owners’ profits are
taxed as personal income.
MUSHROOM GARDEN will be put up by six (6) members/owners
that will run and finance the business entity in equal sharing of each,
as their capital.

BUSINESS POLICY

“NO WORK NO PAY” is intended to be the policy of this


enterprise. Incentives will be given to those exerting extra effort and
hard work. A means of motivating workers to be more productive and
efficient.
TRAINING/SEMINAR

The workers will be given a brief orientation about the business


and the proper growing of mushroom.
We will also sponsor seminars about mushroom production and
farming, and new techniques and technology in growing of
mushrooms.

RECRUITMENT POLICY

To find and employ the right person for the job, the recruitment
is assigned to one of the owners since she owns the farm where the
mushroom garden is to be put up. She knows who is suitable for the
job.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Manager
He is the person responsible in the operation of the business. He
should be able to keep up amidst-changing world of business

Gardener
He is the person in charge of watering the fruiting bags, making sure
that the fruiting bags are scraped when needed (when it turns black),
harvesting of mushrooms and making sure that no pests get inside the
mushroom house. He maintains the cleanliness of the mushroom
house.

Processor/Cook
He is the one in charge of converting fresh mushrooms into processed
food like mushroom burger, tempura mushroom and mushroom sisig to
be sold in the market.

Bagger
He is the person in charge of the packaging of mushrooms and
assuring that every piece of mushroom is in good condition and not
rotten.

Driver
He is in charge of the delivery of fresh mushrooms to every client. He
will be accompanying the manager in purchasing of fruiting bags
