1 Amanda, Bob and Candice went to an Amusement Park. There are three types of rides: “Timid”,
“Adventurous”, and “Thrill Seekers”. They each paid $8 for the admission and bought tickets for
the rides separately.

Amanda rode on five “Timid”, three “Adventurous”, and two “Thrill Seekers” for a cost of
$13.50. Bob rode on five “Timid”, five “Adventurous”, and none “Thrill Seekers” for a cost
of $12.50. Candice rode on two “Timid”, three “Adventurous”, and five “Thrill Seekers” for
a cost of $16.50.

(i) Find the cost of each ride. [2]

After they have completed their rides, they discovered that they can purchase a 15-rides ticket
book each that includes the admission fee and five tickets for each type of ride for the price of
just the tickets.

(ii) Find the cost of the 15-rides ticket book. [1]

(iii) Did Amanda, Bob or Candice pay more for the admission and the rides separately?
Justify your answer. [2]
