diagonally, vertically or horizontally.

Compare and Contrast
Research two artworks and
write a two-page, double
space essay, comparing and
contrasting the artworks.
One must be a
contemporary artist (living
and working today) and the
other must be an abstract
expressionist (1940-1950)
Music Poster
Choose a song and create a
poster that visually
represents the song. You
can use any medium you
like to create this poste.
Collage, Watercolor,
Acrylic, Crayon, etc. Feel
free to combine mediums.
Your poster must be the
size of a standard sheet of
paper or larger.
Instruction Drawing
Create a drawing of an
object. Now on the back of
your drawing create
detailed instructions on
how to draw your drawing.
Partner with someone and
have them try to follow
your instructions without
looking at your drawing.
If you were an Artist…
Time to get creative! You
are an artist! Write a full
one-page paper on your life
as an artist. What kind of
artwork do you create?
What is your art
movement? What time
period are you from?
Remember to be creative
this can all be made up.

Performance Art
Use the link provided in the
‘Further Instructions’
section. Read the article
about Performance art and
write a two paragraph (10
sentences minimum)
summary/reflection about
the article. What do you
think about performance
art?
Journal Entry
Create a personal journal
entry with an artwork that
illustrates your journal
entry on a second piece of
paper. Your artwork can be
done in any medium.
3D Line Drawing
Create a 3D sculpture of
your name or nickname.
Use different types of lines
to create your sculpture.
Horizontal, Vertical,
Psychic, thick, curved, etc.
Color and decorate your
sculpture in a way that
describes you.
Gesture Drawings
Compose a series of 10
gesture drawings. Do not
spend more than 5 minutes
on each of the drawings.
Feel free to use the front
and back of a blank sheet
of paper. Please label each
drawing at the bottom of
the drawing and staple your
Gesture Drawings together
in a small packet.

Instruction Drawing: You must turn in your drawing, the directions for your drawing, and
your partners attempt at the drawing in order to get full credit for this option.

Journal Entry: Your artwork can be as realistic or as abstract as you desire. Though I am
allowing you freedom on this artwork make it believable to your journal. A black square of
paint will not represent your trip to Disneyland.

Essays: All essays about an artwork must have a picture of the artwork or artworks on a
separate page attached to the essay. Under the picture write the name of the artist, title of
artwork, and year it was painted. Please also incorporate a little excerpt about the artist in
your essays.
