river of kisses [2020] SEAN X. QUINN [b.

2000]

installation

In an outdoor space with a river/body of channelled water running through it; a Zen/Sand garden or any sort of garden will suffice, as long as
there is a channel of water long enough for many people to stand beside it.

Audience members are encouraged to bring small origami-paper water-balloons; either pre-made, sight-made or brought from home.

Using these, one at a time, they stand at the top of the channel of water, kiss the top of the balloon – in lieu of their beloved, either present,
imagined or desired – and set the balloon free into the water.

Allow it to float away, in hope that your kiss travels to your beloved.

This may be performed as a solo work also in a performer’s own time, as a pair of hopeful lovebirds or friends looking for love, or as an
ensemble exercise involving bachelor/ettes, couples or a mixture of both. The balloons in these cases should be made in the time of the
performers and not pre-made by an organising party.
