Indiana Grassroots Series

Week 2 Information
What is it?
• A 20 member, and growing, virtual meet
o Austin, Avon, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Cathedral, Columbus North, Crown Point, Decatur
Central, Gibson Southern, LaPorte, Lawrence Central, Morgan Township, New Albany,
Northview, Pike Central, Seeger, Tell City, Warren Central, Winamac, Zion-Benton (IL)
• Weekly series that races during a ~48 hour window on Friday/Saturday
• Race types and scoring can change from week to week (agreed upon by participating coaches)
• Focuses on building mental toughness by encouraging solo efforts/social distancing while also
allowing athletes to take care of their mental state with daily exercise during Covid-19
• Depends on honesty/integrity from athletes and coaches
• A way for coaches to make connections/grow professionally during this time via weekly Google
Hangouts
Week 2 Races: 3200, 1000, 4x4
• 2 event maximum
• 15 minute maximum time between a double attempt
• Races must be completed on Friday, March 27, or Saturday, March 28
Week 2 Scoring: Modified Invitational Scoring
• Individual Events-15, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
• Relay-20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2
• 3 athlete maximum from same school can score in any Individual Event
• Only 1 Relay from same school can score
Entries: Enter as many runners as you want
• Relays need to be entered by Thursday night
o Enter the four runners for your A squad, B squad, and so forth (this adds a little strategy
compared to just entering your 4 fastest after reporting)
Reporting: Times verified by direct coach
• Please have times entered in the spreadsheet by Saturday, March 28, at 9 pm (EST), so we can
get results out by Sunday morning
• Times on the track don’t need verification
• Times with GPS watches should be verified by direct coach with a picture of distance and time
(don’t need to be turned in to spreadsheet)
• Times on a flat non track surface should be verified by direct coach with a link to the mapping
website used to verify distance (don’t need to be turned in to spreadsheet)
