THE USE OF INQUIRY INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL TO INCREASE

WRITING ABILITY OF NEWS TEXT

ABSTRACT

This research aims to know whether the use of inquiry instructional model can
increase student’s writing ability of news text. This research used quantitative
descriptive approach. The method used was quasi-experiment method. The
instrument used to collect data was test instrument of writing ability of news
text. The technique of data analysis was comparational technique using pre-
test and post test one group design. The result showed three points. Firstly, the
ability of student in writing news text before using inquiry instructional model
was categorized very low. Secondly, the ability of student in writing news text
after using inquiry instructional model was categorized very good. Thirdly,
the use of inquiry instructional model can increase student’s writing ability of
news text.

AND INTENTION IN POETRY

ABSTRACT

This research aims to know whether the use of bamboo dance instructional model
can increase the ability of student to identify theme, tone and intention in
poetry. This research used descriptive quantitative approach. The method used
was quasi experiment method. The instrument used to collect data was test
instrument ability to identify theme, tone and intention in poetry. Data
analysis technique used was comparational technique using pre-test and
post-test one group design. The result showed three points. Firstly, the ability
of student to identify theme, tone and intention in poetry before using
bamboo dance instructional model was categorized failed. Secondly, the ability
of student to identify theme, tone and intention in poetry after using bamboo
dance instructional model was categorized very good. Thirdly, the use of
bamboo dance instructional model can increase the ability of student to
identify theme, tone and intention in poetry.

It can be concluded that the students having high creativity


have better writing ability than those who have low creativity.
(Disimpulkan bahwa mahasiswa yang memiliki kreativitas
tinggi memiliki kemampuan menulis yang lebih baik daripada
mahasiswa dengan kreativitas rendah.

Grainger, at al (2005:13) state that creativity will influence of


writing process in making choices about how to create ideas,
choose vocabulary, arrange structure, and language. Creativity
becomes important for the writers to organize their ideas in good
manner. However, the writers can solve the problem in the difficult of
writing. Thus, creativity is a process that involves in writing process to
have good writing.

(Grainger, dkk (2005 : 13) menyatakan bahwa kreativitas akan


mempengaruhi proses penulisan dalam hal membuat pilihan
untuk menciptakan gagasan, memilih kosa kata, menyusun
struktur dan bahasa. Kreativitas menjadi penting bagi penulis
untuk menyusun gagasan mereka dengan cara yang baik.
Namun, penulis mampu memecahkan masalah yang sulit dalam
penulisan. Dengan demikian, kreativitas merupakan proses yang
ada dalam penulisan untuk memperoleh tulisan yang baik.

IQ or intelligence Quotient indeed has positive correlation to students‟ reading


and writing achievement. However, the correlation coefficient of IQ to writing
(r=.401) is lower than the correlation coefficient of reading comprehension to
students‟ writing achievement (r=.587).

(IQ memiliki korelasi positif terhadap kemampun membaca dan menulis


mahasiswa. Namun, koefisien korelasi IQ terhadap menulis (r=.401) lebih
rendah daripada koefisien korelasi kemampuan membaca mahasiswa ((r=.587).
