Central Idea

Individuals have made contributions to society through language,


science, and the arts.

Task
You will be researching one person of your choice who has been an Agent of
Change in a language, science, or arts field. You will be writing a first-person
report about that person and presenting it as a speech.
This is an individual project, not a group project.

Criteria
Two different rubrics will be used to grade your report and your speech.
You will also do a peer-review and a self-review.

DUE DATES
Note check: Friday, December 17
Rough Draft and Notes Due: Wednesday, January 5
Final Report Due: Monday, January 10
Presentations Start: Tuesday, January 11

SPEECH

You will be giving a speech to the class and share what you have learned about
your Agent of Change. Please use the following as a guideline for your speech.

___ Use an outline or note cards. Do NOT just read your report!!

___ Include appropriate props or costume pieces.

___ Include examples of the person’s work (if possible).

___ Stay on topic.

___ Speak clearly and fluently.

___ Make eye contact.

___ Speak at an appropriate volume.

___ Be prepared!! Practice or rehearse your speech/presentation.
