SCREENPLAY: INSIDE THE MIND

Audio and Visual Neuro-Transmitted Projections.

Recording the information that is created in the mind by neurons, synapses, and receptors, and
that are only really tangible to the person whose mind is generating the information.

This idea came about when I was laying in bed with thoughts and images running wild
inside of my head, and making it impossible for me to go to sleep. I was seeing extremely
intricate geometric patterns that seems to wind and warp into inter-relating dimensions of space.
The colors also changed in time with the pattern, and it seemed like I had only a little bit of
control over each change that was made to the projection in my mind, but once I tried to focus
my attention on purposefully controlling the images in my mind it seemed like things fell apart
and almost did the exact opposite of what I had intended on happening, as if my subconscious
mind was in conflict with my conscious mind.
The idea that I became obsessed with was not only the depth and sporadic nature of
images that became visual in the human mind, but the fact alone that the images were actually
somewhat visible, as though I was seeing a ghost image of what I was projecting inside of my
own mind. I began to try and rationalize how these images could actually become tangible to my
senses. Were they actually being seen with my eyes or were they just being realized by signals in
my brain that created the illusion of actual sight? Could these images and sounds somehow be
recorded through some kind of device that reads the activity of the connecting synapses in the
brain and translates the information into an audio or video signal? What would this device look
like, and how would it connect to the brain in order to precisely detect all of the interconnecting
signals?

PLOT:

A research institute for biological technology is developing a device that allows the thoughts in
people’s minds to be read, translated, and projected out of the mind and on to a screen. This
breakthrough seems, at first, to be nothing but an invasive form of entertainment, but the
limitless potential of this device becomes more evident with each new experiment. The story
basically develops along with the possibilities of this mind-reading technology. It would start out
in the science lab, then to the press-conferences and release parties, then to alternate testing
scenarios (dream-monitoring, lie-detectors, courtroom tools, psychologists
offices, animal testing,...), then artists and musicians would use the technology to generate
works of art in the form of; videos, snapshots, musical compositions, and live demonstrations,
then to the possible evil uses (weapon development, brainwashing/mind-control,...),
then maybe mind-reading for security purposes. Then the creators would have to ask themselves
if their discovery was actually as beneficial to the human race as they thought it would be, by
weighing the positive effects with the negatives and deciding whether or not they should
continue to develop the technology.

HIGHLIGHTS of the story:

- The initial development, which would include many failed trial-runs that call for tweaks in the
hardware and software being developed.
- The first successful human trial, when the developers finally realize the intense nature of the
project that they have all been working on. The subjects thoughts would be recorded onto a
computer screen the exact way that they appear in his head, with depth, emotion, layers, and
colors. The other scientists may be shocked by the projections, since they would basically blur all
boundaries of privacy and really some of the subjects deepest and darkest secrets.
- different methods of testing, including: animal testing (an owner wants to know what
his dog is thinking.), Therapeutic treatment (“I’m going to say a word and we will
see what kind of images that word provokes in your mind. Fear.”), Artistic
experimentation (A breakthrough artist uses the device during an exhibition and
shocks the audience with the intricate patterns and images that he is able to
create and control using his mind and body.)
