Write a report on the scrap file on the following topics of disaster management. The report
should not be more than 10 -15 pages.

PREPAREDNESS FOR DISASTERS:


1. What are the suggested ways by which you can enhance life skills?
2. What are your suggestions to the meteorology department and also the Ministry of
Information and Broadcasting in order to organize warning system for flood / cyclone?
3. How can the vulnerability map help in warning?
4. How can SMS be a tool to help people at the time of disaster?
5. How the naked electric wires exposed to the rainwater in places like Mumbai can be the
disaster.
6. What kind of infrastructural and structural facilities are required in rural/urban communities
living in coastal areas or flood-prone areas or earthquake-prone areas?
7. What could be the early warning system that could be best used in that given area for that
community?
8 How can students play a vital role in creating physically and economically healthier India?
9. Write a manual of instructions and make Pocket Guide on First Aid use by teachers to
manage

Laboratory, classroom, corridors and school building security, buses etc. .


10. Prepare instructions to deal with any accidents in school or in the bus.

CH. CONSUMER AWARENESS.

1. Visit a market and record your observations in regard to consumer exploitation by : Sellers of
electrical goods. , Grocery sellers, garment sellers, Halwais etc.

2. Prepare posters with catchy slogans like: -- Beware of your might, Consumer be cautious etc.

3. Interview 4-5 persons in your neighbourhood and collect varied experiences regarding how
they have been victims of such exploitation and their responses.

NUMERICAL ASSIGNMENT

1. A wire of length 3 m and area of cross-section 1.7X10-6 m2 has a resistance 3X10-2 ohm.
a) What is the formula for resistivity of the wire and what is the unit of it?
b) Calculate the resistivity of the wire.

2. An electric bulb draws a current of 0.8A and works on 250V on the average 8 hours a
day.
a) Find the power consumed by the bulb
b) If the electric distribution company changes Rs 5 for 6 KWH, what is the monthly bill
for 60 days.

3. You have two electric lamps having rating 40 W; 220 V and 60 W; 220 V. Which of the
two has a higher resistance? Give reason for your answer. If these two lamps are
connected to a source of 220 V, which will glow brighter?

4. Three resistors 5Ω, 10Ω and 30Ω are connected in parallel with the battery of
Voltage 6V.

Calculate:-

(a) The value of current across each resistor

(b) The value of Potential difference across each resistor

(c) Total current in the circuit

(d) Effective resistance of the circuit
