Students Hurt During this Epidemic

This huge epidemic with cases of COVID-19 has left many students distraught.
Elementary, highschool, and college students have all had an interruption in their education from
the epidemic. Several Universities have pushed back spring breaks, and upon return enforced
online classes for the rest of the semester. Elementary and highschool students have their
curriculum taught to them online until further notice. For college students Spring semester is
such an exciting time. The anticipation of school is almost out for graduating seniors, Greek
accomplishments and much more during this semester. The second term for highschool students
is also important. They have prom and graduation which are huge events in highschool. This
epidemic has nearly discouraged and hurt many students worldwide.

Jabria Pearson a student at Jackson State University whose a senior Political Science
major from Freeport,Illinois is discouraged by the epidemic. “ My first year of college was a bit
much at JSU. I would have never imagined my last year of undergrad ending this way. I’ve
always dreamed of walking across the stage, and I would never get that experience. My college
years molded me into becoming the young woman I am today. These are the years I would
cherish for the rest of my life, and to know I can’t end it with making my family proud and
walking across the stage is very hurtful. “

This epidemic has shaken up the whole world. Nobody would have expected this virus to
take over in such a drastic way in nearly a week. Many students would have never thought
leaving school for spring break that they will never return.
London Wagner who's also a student at Jackson State University that’s a senior industrial
technology major says she went out of town for vacation for spring break, and would have never
thought she wouldn’t be returning back. “ I had a fun-time on my vacation. I knew the
coronavirus was out, but I didn’t know the huge outbreak was coming so fast which canceled the
rest of my senior year. Being a senior I couldn't wait for the day to graduate college. College is
hard and not everyone can endure the long nights, early mornings, with having a tough major. I
always knew I would walk across the stage. To come back to school from spring break hearing
this news is very discouraging. I believe some decisions were made too early on as far as
cancelling huge events like graduation, however I am a firm believer things will get better. “

During this epidemic students have been really affected by the changes implemented.
With online schooling being a huge factor, major events being cancelled and not postponed has
affected students. The primary focus during this epidemic should be everyone. During this time
students should feel loved, and appreciated and to know that there will always be a shining light
at the end of the tunnel.
