Based on the interviews with two of the teachers at school regarding on teacher

professionalism, it can be summarized that professional teachers need to be knowledgeable,


skilled in pedagogical knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge in teaching and learning.
In addition, teachers' professional needs to have a good attitude and be exemplary to the
students. Aligned as professional teachers, characteristics of an effective teacher which are as
follows encouragement and passionate, positive and true and also teacher as leader. Effective
teachers were driven by a mission, as if it is a call to teach in addition has a passion for helping
students learn and develop. (Burden, 2014) They have a high commitment and willingness to
accept additional tasks. As for positive and true, this type of teacher displays qualities such as
respect, compassion, empathy and fair in their relationship with students, parents and friends.
They are more democratic, easy to connect with students, more open and adaptable to
changes. The teacher is a leader who can influence students to change, learn, and develop in
doing something differently, independent, responsible and achieving purpose. As a leader,
teacher is the role model to the students, lead parents through active partnership and lead their
colleagues through mentoring, collaboration and sharing new ideas in teaching.

Business certainly has a space anywhere in the workplace or in the staff room. Staff
room is commonly observed in the business. The teacher should perform his duties as an
educator in the classroom instead of doing business in school. Mohammad Sani (2002) stated
that sometimes there are teachers who do business from car boot and the situation actually
violated the ethics of public service and teachers are bound by the General Orders which will
oversee the conduct and ethical behavior of employees in the public service. Therefore, the
authorities should play a role by providing comments and take appropriate action against such
teachers who tarnish the image of the teaching profession.

The educators classified as educational services officer and an integral part of


government officials. But they are subject to the rules and laws of the civil service. As
government officials, we are subject to the General Orders of the Government and conduct.
Approval will only be given if the part-time job that does not conflict with regulations such as
part-time work is not done in working hours and does not affect their work. (Mc Laughlin and
Talbert, 2013) Some teachers, including part-time jobs provide tuition classes or online classes
to help students overcome difficulties in a variety of subjects using the expertise of outside work
hours without affecting their performance. For example, the teachers held classes and lectures
to give a speech or working part-time in private institutions to supplement their income.
However, the government should take to monitor their performance will not be affected
productivity while performing the task as public servants.

Here are five roles that a teacher often has to fill in order to be the best educator they
can be. One of the top roles a teacher must fill is that of a resource specialist. There will be
many people who will come to the teacher seeking information. Even if the person is only
seeking a source of information, the teacher is the one who must know how to find what the
student is looking for. Once the teacher has given the information to the student or coworker, he
or she will often have to instruct the student on how to use the information. Students are the
ones who need support when learning a new skill or piece of information. Hargreaves (2015)
mentioned that a teacher must act as the support person when the student needs this help.
Support can come in many forms such as a coach, leader and even a counselor. In professional
circles, a teacher may even have to support other teachers leading a particular subject matter.
One of the biggest roles a teacher may have is that of a mentor. Students look up to teachers
and may pattern their own behavior and work ethic to match the instructor. An older teacher can
even be a mentor to a younger teacher who is just starting out in the profession. A leader in a
school is a person who takes on extra tasks such as leading the PTA meetings and even
helping set up for a big event. Teachers who are active in the school will often have more jobs
than just the one they were hired to perform. Often, the goals of the teacher will match the
direction that the school is taking. One last important role a teacher must fill is that of a learner.
Anyone who has been involved in a profession long enough knows that there is always
something new to learn. A learner is a person who is always growing in life and will never claim
that they know it all. Elaine (2012) A teacher will be challenged every day with a new task that
will help them grow into a better person.

A teacher is a person who will have to fill many roles. They are people with educational
leadership skills and they must continue to grow and develop as professionals. Anyone seeking
to be a teacher should take advantage of any chance they get to grow as a person and as a
teacher.
